So earlier today I randomly met Grant and Kel on Worms 2: Armageddon, on a ranked game no less(what are the odds?). They recognized me by my gamertag, which is the same as my username here. :p

Took me a while to realize who they were, they(he? not sure which of them was talking on the mic/playing) kept trying to reach me trough the mic but I couldn't really hear over the game's music volume. Then they kept trying to invite me to a chat but I usually ignore/decline those since I lost my headset. They had to send me an audio message before they finally got trough. :o

It was a bit of a messy match(It was a bit slow due to messaging trough the Xbox Live guide and I got some de-synch probably because of the same reason). I ended up loosing because my thumb slipped when I was trying to backflip so I jumped into the water instead. :p And I was about to win the match too. (wind was favorable, was going to
parachute over and shotgun their two remaining worms) T_T
It was a shame because I was so looking forward to beating them. :P

Does anybody know if there's any sort of website that can tell me if a certain product is available in shelf at any store? Probably far-fetched but it would be nice. This is just too cool. You can link up your Rock Band game data with the Rock Band website, and from there, you can take pictures of your band members in all sorts of poses and stuff (and your whole band in most cases, but my band doesn't work on the website probably because the name was already taken -- not surprising out of Severe Tire Damage, but disappointing nonetheless). You can then put your pictures on all manners of buyable merchandise like t-shirts and buttons and keychains and even bumper stickers -- but the real highlight of it all is the option to order a custom-made 6" figurine of any band member. Man, how I want this:

I try to question and analyze my beliefs as much as I can and just in doing that I find I really can't call myself christian anymore. I normally just have to settle for "sort of christian" or "raised christian" when asked.

I noticed that in Prototype This when they made the human air-bags. The polygonal look of the 3D models gave their prototype printouts a sort of homemade charm, though. I think if I owned one of them 3D printers gubbinses I'd quite like that about them.

If it looked exactly like it did in the game, then that'd kick the ass. The problem is more of a this sort of thing:

If they printed it with an extra .5-1 mm thickness you could just go over it with a small file and it should look good.

Oh it's just my drawing tablet. I had to update the driver because it was playing up on Windows 7 and this one comes with handwriting recognition (my driver version jumped from about 1.7 to 5.2 because I never bothered checking beofre :-/)

It's slower than typing and I'd never use it to get anything serious done, but it's still pretty fun :P

Gaming with my tablet can be awesome though, depending on the game (e.g. point+clicks or Torchlight) although it doesn't work properly with some games sadly.

Owning a tablet PC has made me very good at using a virtual keyboard.

It's a convertable laptop type of thing, so I've also gotten pretty good at using a touchpad mouse.

I never liked imaginary keypads on touchscreens, but after a week with my new iPhone it turns out you do in fact get pretty used to it. It's still not ideal, but my other phone has a full slide-out keypad and to be honest that's probably further from ideal.

So my primary laptop battery is losing capacity (I have a secondary battery too) and I tested it at lowest power possible and it went 28 minutes before it becasue critically low.

I let it charge again and this time benchmarked it using BatteryEater at 100% full throttle.

It lasted 45 seconds.

WTF I realize using a lot of juice from a battery can reduce performance, but by that much? I put it back in, now that I'm plugged back into the wall, and windows reports that it's at 12% charge. That's freaking ridiculous that it discharged in 45 seconds. It still takes like an hour to charge.

edit: I read somewhere that a deep discharge/recharge can give some life back, so I'm discharging it right now through 460 ohms and I'll leave it overnight and see what happens

I've heard it's best to charge your battery when it gets to 60%. That might be different depending on the battery, though. Dunno.

Any idea whether the deep discharge/recharge also gives life back to, say, a 2700mAh NiMH AA? The rechargables I use for my NXT seem to be getting weak in their old age.

Exams, movies, shows, conferences, etc. Vibrating phones can be louder than soft-talking, specially since a lot of people put them on their tables.

Yeah, I take it to class and discharge it most of the way every day, so I realize that's probably why it died. Mildly annoying though.

I was getting impatient with the 460 ohm resistor and swapped it with a 220 so that it dissipates about 600mW, and it gets quite hot. Left it overnight and now I'm at 11.76 volts instead of the 12.12 I left it at in the morning... The sticker says 10.8. It might hold a decent charge and the sensor thing isn't working I'm gonna see how long it takes to drain.

yeah i've had my macbook for a year and change and it's gone through 600+ cycles already

The battery has been delivering a constant 50 mA current for the past 20 hours or so, which is 1000mAh, which is a lot of current I've gotten out of the thing, given the battery is rated 4700mAh, and the computer said the battery was dead. It's also at 11.5v after these 20 hours, when the sticker says 10.8, so I feel like it should have charge left. I'm starting to wonder if it was just the controller going bad and not being accurate as to how much charge the battery has, hence the shorter charge lifespan.

This computer is I think slightly over 2 and a half years old. This is the battery than came with the used computer I bought to replace the one that was stolen, so I have no idea what the previous owner put it through, but I noticed right when I got it that the battery life wasn't as good as my old one, despite mine being only 6 months newer.

I wish I could think of something I could discharge my battery through that would be more practical than heating a resistor... Like a 12v fan or something.

Always felt pretty bad for not wearing it more, but now I am wearing it. Yay. I'm pretty giddy about it.

I had a watch. The strap broke, and then I used a black cord as a new strap because I was too lazy to get it fixed. Then it fell in the toilet and I decided it would be wise not to use it anymore.

I agree with Vader tho, I don't like knowing what hour it is. I'm always late for something and it's nice not knowing how late you are. Unfortunately I have my iPod with me all the time, so I still know what time it is. :(

edit: I also had one of those watches that work as universal remotes too, but it also fell in the toilet.

I often use the toilet tank to place stuff when I'm taking a shower(due to a lack of other surfaces to put stuff in), both of those watches were not water proof so I would place them on the toilet tank while taking a shower. Then it's just a case of neglecting to close the lid and a small bump and there you go. :p

I have a problem with how phones have replaced wrist watches. Pulling a phone out of your pocket to check the time is never as nice as always having it on your wrist. However, with phones so common now everyone just checks that because they figure it's good enough. Phones have essentially replaced watches, but watches are far superior as timepieces. You can be in the middle of practically anything and check a watch in half a second. If you're carrying something, or you're in the middle of an exam, or you're driving, who wants to pull a phone out of your pocket to know the time?!

It's like this: People invented pocket watches. Then people realized, "hey, if we strap it to our wrist we don't have to stop what we're doing and take it out of our pocket!" Now we've gone back and put it in our pocket again. It makes no sense to me.

I can understand pocket watches for nostalgia purposes, but a phone is a sorry excuse for a timepiece.

[/rant]I prefer not having a watch on my wrist, myself, so carrying one around in my pocket is far more convenient for me because otherwise I wouldn't have any way to tell time at all. personal choice, sure, but having the option for those of us who choose to use it is nice.

I've never found myself in the position where pulling out my iPod from my pocket to check the time is that big of an inconvenience. :p

It's a very simple motion. Maybe if I'm carrying heavy stuff, like supermarket bags full of goods, but I don't see why it would be so urgent to check the time that I couldn't just get them to their destination before checking the time. :p

Pocket to wrist isn't that much of a leap anyway. Call me when I can have the exact time embedded on my vision. Like with a dbz style scouter that also tells me the battle power of people. :cool:

I used to wear wrist watches all the time, until I noticed they mostly made my arm itchy and were uncomfortable, so now I don't. And I'm also enjoying not becoming obsessed with always knowing the time by checking my wrist every few minutes.

Sure I can still check the time on my phone when I really need it, but it's not as convenient so I don't do it as often.

I stopped wearing a watch not too long after starting university, which is when I first got a mobile phone. Naturally you're not allowed to have a phone on in an exam, but every room I sat an exam in had a clock on the front wall. I only lose track of time when I'm on an aeroplane.

It's so much better not having something on your wrist which gets in the way. Occasionally I wonder if I am feeling an effect of the mobile phone's radiation on my thigh, although I don't always have it in the same pocket. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but it feels like part of the muscle tightens a bit, or something like that anyway.

Well sunlight has far more radiation than microwaves... I think you're just paranoid :p

I don't wear a watch. Other people keep time for me. It's great.
