Bush's biggest high of his presidency was catching a big fish: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4982338.stmIn fairness, it's probably accurate.

Although if I were him, playing cricket in Pakistan would be top.

EDIT: Total non-sequiter, but that's the point of this thread. It's always ****ed me off when people say that Mario has better music than Sonic because "it has more variety". There seems to be this enduring image that all Sonic music is generic rock. That's just not true. Take the first two Sonic games:

Green Hill: Pop
Marble: Classical
Spring Yard: Jazz
Labyrinth: Classical
Starlight: Jazz
Scrap Brain: Pop

Emerald Hill: Rock
Chemical Plant: Rock
Aquatic Ruins: Classical
Casino Night: Jazz
Hill Top: Hillbilly music, ffs.
Mystic Caves: Spooky movie music
Oil Ocean: Arabian
Metropolis: Rock
Sky Chase: ... I'm not sure, but it's certainly not rock
Wing Fortress: Military
Death Egg: Military

So, in conclusion... what?

FutureWorm

Emerald Hill is more pop than rock, and I think it's a stretch to call Aquatic Ruin "classical." Sky Chase might be best classified as elevator music. Also, I'd call Mystic Caves rock.

For my Chemistry class
For my final exams back in gymnasium I made a cannon out of a large syringe filled with dinitrogen oxide and octane.
It could fire the piston of the syringe 3 stories high and still damage it from the impact on the ceiling.

Unfortunately, during my presentation, the gas mix diffused out of the bag I had prepared it in, and all i got was a slight plop, with the piston still in the syringe.
Or probably fortunately, because some people in the room would be deaf now (primarely me).

Also I complete messed up the kinetic calculations.
Still I go away with the best grade...

I was riding the bus to work as usual. I happened to look up at the advertisements that line the corners of the roof, and noticed a cautionary one saying, "Car crashes are the largest cause of death for youth." Directly next to it was a PSP ad plainly proclaiming, "Play in traffic."

I almost burst out laughing on a freaking bus.

Pretty good overall. Might've just been my computer, but it probably would've done better with a faster framerate. If you don't learn to work at about a 24 FPS minimum, it'll only lead to major aggravation later on. I personally started at 12, went to 16, and then jumped to 24, and that worked pretty well.

There are also some places where the timing needs work -- i.e. the main character takes an abnormally long amount of time to raise his hand. It can be hard to get the timing right; not so fast that the viewer doesn't really absorb it, or drawn out enough to make them gradually lose interest.

Plot is wonderfully ludicrous. And Mars looks like one of those planets from the Commander Keen games because of the polar caps, lol.

In all sincerity, I think it would be very worth it for you to invest in a tablet. Even something like a Wacom Graphire3 4x5 (good brand, but pretty low-end) will work wonders with a couple months of practice on it.

Funny and ironic that you posted all that.:p See yesterday night...well accually 1 am this morning, I was up talking to Error404 about flash and stuff. Long story short, I bought a wacom 4x5 for about $57 on E-bay. ( this one to be exact (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSAA:US:11&Item=9727691922) )Before reading this post of course. And the framerate is 17. Trust me when I say that Im not happy with the frame rate. On my computer, since it runs at 17 fps, the music and everything fits all together perfectly. On the web....well thats another story. It never works for me.>:/
Thanks for the feedback.

Same happens here during elections. Though personally, I wish everyday was elections. Because it's only during elections that the politicians actually pay attention to people's requests and the country actually moves on. The rest of the year, nothing really happens besides blaming the other parties for the piece of crap that our country is in.

Didn't vote in the local elections, mind, on account of nobody telling me there were going to be any until I saw an advert for them on a bus in a different city and vaguely wondered if Leeds would be having any, by which time I'd already made plans to spend the entire day in Birmingham. And as such we've wound up with a BNP councillor.

Exactly what he can do to combat all these dirty immigrants coming over and stealing out jobs/houses/wives/car radios I'm not sure, because you can't really immigrate to a suburb, but he seems very pleased with himself.

I particularly liked this:
Instead of adopting the solo developers' pioneering mojo, the risk-averse major studios stick with proven formulas. Can't wait to fire up Final Fantasy 13? It'll be out soon. So will the 19th iteration of EA's Madden football game, complete with updated player names and numbers. EA, the industry's leading publisher, had a nasty case of sequelitis last year. I've looked at nearly 50 games that EA released last year, and I've yet to find one that isn't a rehash like NBA Live 06 or a movie tie-in like Batman Begins.

I seem to recall making tie-dye at one point, and for the most part it was pretty easy. Also pretty easy to screw up, but not what I'd call overly difficult.
Let me rephrase.
Making tie-die japanese (Or chinese. Or something) style, in which the shirt has to be wrapped around a pole, when there's only one pole in the classroom, and you've wrapped in on way too tight, and you waste 3/4ths of the class time trying to get it off before it uncrumples and you have to start over, in a classroom full of students with limited desk space, with ink that had spilled on the table and is making some nasty yellow spots on your shirt is really hard.

HA. Yes. Go replying to really old posts.
Maybe I'm back. Maybe not. Either way, the art forum is annoying.

(My reasoning: "It's in the wrong part of the sky to be Mercury or Venus, it's too bright to be Saturn, it's way too bright to be Uranus, Neptune or Pluto. So it must be Mars or Jupiter, and it's the wrong colour to be Mars. Plus we saw Mars quite recently anyway")

||) //-\ ||\|| -- "Dan".

eRe -- "Here". British slang. It essentially means nothing.

big bruvrs great -- "Big Brother is great". The television programme, presumably, although this is factually incorrect.

nikkis fit -- Apparently, one of the Big Brother housemates is called Nikki and is sexually attractive.

las nite was mint -- "Last night, Big Brother was particularly good televisual entertainment". I suspect "mint" is rhyming slang, but I don't know what for.

pete -- As one might say "man" or "dude". It also means nothing.

That's the last time I download anything from Apple then. I decided I'd download iTunes and buy some music, which I did. iTunes doesn't work, I can't play the music and it's in a protected format that I can't change. Other people seem to have the same problem. So I've bought music from iTunes, that I cannot listen to. My computer doesn't recognise my dvd drive anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if that was due to Apple too. Microsoft > Apple any day of the week. At least they can make stuff that works. Apple have done that for a perfectly good reason, to reduce the illegal music distributing that goes on. There is a way around it though: rip the music to CD and then reimport it.

My computer doesn't recognise my dvd drive anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if that was due to Apple too.

I installed Windows Media Player on my old iMac once - it totally screwed things up. Guess who I blamed. Microsoft.

Microsoft > Apple any day of the week. At least they can make stuff that works.

My copy of iTunes works fine, and so do a few million others, I imagine. I often reverse the inequality sign :) ;)

I have experienced very little stuff from Microsoft that works flawlessly on a regular basis (much less than I have from Apple) - and that goes for WinXP systems too.

Note: I'll probably regret saying this sometime in the future but it's how I feel at the moment. I might not get an ipod nano afterall.

Too right!! :D

Note:

Hope you don't get upset by any of my comments above - they were just meant as lighthearted jokes

That is a rather irrational post.
I make irrational posts when I'm ****ed off, incase you haven't noticed.

Anywho, I have sound back, I did a system restore to a couple of days ago and it also recognises my dvd drive. Now, dare I touch iTunes? I think I'll create a system restore point now...

Well iTunes won't work, and I'm not even going to try to get it to work. Looks like I'll have to go back to getting music illegally:p

My iTunes works fine, though it's really outdated and I just use it as a media library player.
In any case, I gotta give props to Microsoft for my Windows XP installation still working after a partial SP2 installation basically wrecked its whole infrastructure so that many system things don't work properly but luckily I don't use them. :p

Not very clearly defined though as, working in a shop that sells computer-related stuff amongst other things, people often wonder why I stand there and glare at them when they have so many problems as if it's the norm. Fault tolerance is a little too high for advanced computer users. Well, advanced Windows users. Or should that be applicants? Perfect execution in Windows is far less likely than with a serial killer with a neatness disorder.

I never said it was, did I?

I make the effort. Most of the deviations from the standard are just characters that ought really be HTML entities. I don't use Frontpage extentions, I don't use IE-only code, and I don't use tables for all my layout. I reckon I'm more than compatible enough. And more to the point, if I'm given the choice between something that only works in IE and something that works in every browser except IE, I'll go for the latter. Hence the warning message in IE.

I have better things to do with my time than code a website for a standard that not one browser fully supports anyway. Seriously. Even FireFox isn't prefect.

No, but it's got a nice development network and people make open-source plugins for it, so compared to Windows Media Player it's practically communist.

I've heard that theory, but the person espousing it linked me to a Wikipedia article that seemed to argue against it, so I've not seen what you'd call "evidence" of this theory.

I think there's disagreement in the old Greek scripts, and 666 won out like VHS over Betamax. I might be wrong, though.

Well, of course, M/D/Y is a particularly stupid way of writing it, so it must be last January, one way or the other (D/M/Y or Y/M/D).

Although as the number isn't 6, 6, 6 but six hundred and sixty six, you might as well say it was ten minutes and six seconds after Thursday, January 1st 1970, (GMT).

But sine the number of the beast is the number of a man and not the date, it's a stupid argument anyway.

Edit: I'm done picking your post apart now ;)

It doesn't matter either way, though. The original text is simply Hebrew script, written as numbers, referring in code to the famously oppressive Roman emperor Nero. They had to keep it under wraps in case the manuscripts were found by the poh-leece. Or so many scholars think.

By the way, UX, your current avatar is endlessly fascinating to watch.

Thought Jack Thompson had finally faded into obscurity? Think again.

Police seize violent games in shooting investigation
Acting on advice of Jack Thompson, sheriff's deputies search home of suspected Louisiana killer and confiscate M-rated games.
By Brendan Sinclair, GameSpot
Posted Jun 5, 2006 10:06 am PT

Last week, sheriff's deputies conducting an investigation into the murder of a 55-year-old Louisiana man seized a number of games rated M for Mature from the home of a 16-year-old suspect, according to a report in the Baton Rouge paper The Advocate. The action was taken at the suggestion of controversial Florida attorney Jack Thompson.

Thompson told The Advocate that he suggested the sheriffs look for violent games in the youth's house because he felt the killings mirrored a scenario from Grand Theft Auto. The original reports indicated that the victim was beaten to death and shot in the face by the 16-year-old and a 17-year-old accomplice.

"Nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you're a hit man or a video gamer," Thompson told the paper.

While the police did seize the games, it's unclear exactly what role they will play in the investigation. West Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Captain Spence Dilworth told the paper, "I think it goes beyond video games, but who's to say?"
It's been done to death, which is why I haven't given this its own topic, but wow. Just wow. How is it that anyone is actually able to take this guy seriously?

HURRR I PLAY M-RATED GAMES OH GOD I AM SUDDENLY OVERCOME WITH THE INEXPLICABLE URGE TO GO SHOOT SOMEONE IN THE FACE AND URINATE ON THEIR CORPSE, DON'T BLAME ME I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACTIONS
