Don't mind me, just testing the brand spankin' new hotlinking protection.

Hmm, it does seem to work. Personally, though, I don't think you should do hotlinking protection because it is annoying and makes the internet sad.

It's only annoying to people who steal your bandwidth and perople who trash their referrer strings, though, and those people deserve it.

And I think it should be turned on, I don't see why anyone would directly link to a file on Dream17 instead of going to the site.

Am I the only one with an intense dislike for Farazpararar or whatever his name is?I hadn't read that thread in GD before... I really dislike how Plasma and Faraparza automatically jump on a game programming thread (or just programming for Plasma) and dismiss their work as inferior to theirs, therefore making it crap.

Plasma and Faraz have to be the most annoying guys around, nowadays.

Let's not go crazy with flaming like we did a while ago, though. I feel like "the resistance" has given up because we just haven't done anything for a while.

Holy crap. Is this coming out backwards? This is insane. I can't tell. It looks backwards here.
This? I don't even know. This is crazy.

Edit: Nope, it's not backwards when I post! Wow, Unicode Magic! :D

I was able to add a few commas here and there to the first text, but attempting to correct all the grammar didn't work because sometimes, the text would burst into flames and singe the very soul of the monkey.

I feel like writing something crazy in this backwards text, so I will.

One day, in the dark eye of mayhem, there was a tiny child with a lot of money. Undulating from his corpse were three small giraffes who couldn't tell a lemon from a statue of an elephant if they were given too many peanuts to ingest. The child, being only thrity microseconds old and shrinking, had no hams for his poor, unshaven feet. He wasn't about to give up. There was still hope that the giraffes had 60MB of hard drive space to suck on with plungers and vaccuums set to rewind.

"Too many ****ing sausages!" belched the old woman with her eyes bulging crackishly. She ripped her chainsaw and split all the hairs of those supermodels with perfect anuses. "Never again will I stab the hearts of wandering artichokes," smashed her face.

My old avatar was the biohazard sign, because I replaced the radioactive logo in W:A's icon with the biohazard one (similar yet different meaning):

So I decided to stick with that logo for a while.

The current one is Haunter (from an old ROM of a Pokémon game), repalletized for these forums. He looks a bit like a shadow, no? :)

I'm too lazy and uncreative to make a permanent, awesome avatar that would represent my personality. So I guess I'll cycle mediocre ones for now.

People seem to be really split on this one. Personally, I can't help but hear "some", but others say that it isn't there. Shmorky's description includes "some", and the sentence doesn't really make sense without it.

People seem to be really split on this one. Personally, I can't help but hear "some", but others say that it isn't there. Shmorky's description includes "some", and the sentence doesn't really make sense without it.There are 8 syllables in the sentence in total. You may have heard syllable 6, 7, and 8 as "some dongos".

1 "I"
2 "can't"
3 "wait"
4 "to"

5 "bomb"
6 "do" / "some"
7 "don"
8 "gos."

If you think he's saying "some" on syllable 6, then you read "dodongos" incorrectly. There are 3 syllables in "do-don-gos". You read it incorrectly as "don-gos". The creatures in the Zelda games are "dodongos", not "dongos".

Zero72

...I thought it was pretty obvious that he's saying "I can't wait to bomb the dodongos."

Lex
11 Sep 2006, 12:02
That would still be more than 8 syllables, which would obviously be wrong. How could you possibly be hearing 9 syllables?

Zero72
11 Sep 2006, 12:25
I'm telling you, I'm hearing a "the" in there. If we're not certain of what words are being used at all, how are we certain of how many syllables there are?

If what I'm hearing isn't "the," then the first syllable of "dodongo" is repeated in the remixing for some reason. But I'm very certain I'm hearing "the."

I am definitely not hearing anything like "some," either way.

Lex
11 Sep 2006, 12:32
"We" are certain about the number of syllables by being percussively-inclined. It is quite obvious to me, who has a self-proclaimed good sense of rhythm, that there are 8 beats there, and one syllable per beat. Do you count 9 beats, or do you count 8 beats with one of the beats having more than one syllable? Either way, that would throw off the extreme catchiness of the line, which is obviously there. You may be subconsciously injecting that syllable without really listening intently. Are you doing that?

Zero72
11 Sep 2006, 12:34
No, I'm definitely listening intently.

Seriously. Just think the phrase "I can't wait to bomb the dodongos" in your head. Get a good grasp on it. Load up that animation and listen very closely.

The "the" is very quick, which is probably why you're not picking it up as a syllable. This is so it fits.

Splapp
11 Sep 2006, 12:39
He definately says "the". You can tell by Link's lip sync, if you look.

Lex
11 Sep 2006, 13:19
I have just recorded the sound and sliced it into 8 parts, each clearly depicting one syllable, each lasting exactly 0.25 seconds; the entire sample lasting exactly 2 seconds. The sample is played at exactly 128 beats per minute, and I loaded up Fruity Loops Slicer and made a fun loop out of it, at exactly 128 beats per minute, with eight (8) slices total, each slice containing one (1) syllable. I have saved the sliced sample in a folder and rendered my fun loop to wav and saved it on my computer. There are exactly 8 beats in the sample, each containing 1 syllable. There is no "the" or "some" or any other word said than "I", "can't", "wait", "to", "bomb", or "dodongos".

Shmorky did not record the sample, nor did he create the song. He is wrong in his description, and is possibly wrong in his attempt at lip synchronization.

You may find the sliced 8-beat sample here: http://lex.clansfx.co.uk/Media/Requested/Dodongo%20Bombing/8%20syllables.wav
You may find my loop created from the sliced 8-beat sample here: http://lex.clansfx.co.uk/Media/Requested/Dodongo%20Bombing/Dodongo%20Loop.wav

Edit: After listening to my sliced wav in Adobe Audition several times over and watching the volume meter very closely as well as looking at the height of the waves during playback of slice 6, I have noticed a very slight volume decrease in the middle of slice 6, which could, possibly, make slice 6 be interpreted as "the do" said extremely quickly. I doubt, however, that the original voice actor said that so quickly, as voice actors which such a percussive tendancy (the syllables are each exactly 0.25 seconds, perfectly!) tend to avoid slurring words at such a magnitude.

You'll be randomly paired with a partner who's online and using the feature. Over a 90-second period, you and your partner will be shown the same set of images and asked to provide as many labels as possible to describe each image you see. When your label matches your partner's label, you'll earn some points and move on to the next image until time runs out. After time expires, you can explore the images you've seen and the websites where those images were found. And we'll show you the points you've earned throughout the session.

Despite the description on that page, the episode wasn't actually banned because of bloodthirsty Scientologists -- it was because it had a very blunt "coming out of the closet" joke aimed at Tom Cruise, who is apparently well known for defending his image. Apparently he sent in a legal threat or something of the sort, and that was that.

Regular. I still have no clue how to get to Hell.
It's really obscure. I don't know how people genuinely got it, really.
You have to skip talking to Booster. (Jump over the pit by jumping right at the red line in the ground.)
Then you have to save Curly brace by getting the tow cable in the core room before you fight the core. It's in the bottom right.

Then you have to attach Curly to yourself and make it into the secret cabin in the waterway. Then, make sure you don't leave until she's drained of water and you have her attached again.

Then talk to Chtultu and Curly in the Plantation to get the bond thing, which I think signifies that you will definately get the secret ending. (Make sure to enter the door when you're running back with Sue after the Undead Core.)

Also, while we're on the subject, I recently learned where Quote( " ) and Curly Brace( { )'s names came from.
That means that Bracket( [ ) is out there somewhere.

Because a smart fox knows that this one could be rigged with a stick of dynamite (the reason whyit is shunned by the rest of the sheep).

Starworms, do you mean the small 40x40mm fan on your motherboards northbridge?

If so, immediately turn off your computer, go to the next computer hardware shop and buy a 40x40mm aluminium heatsink (which normally includes some heat sink paste) and remove that damn fan.

Such small fans have an extremely high rotation to get enough air flow (~6,000 per minute), which produces much more noise than a larger fan with a lower rotation.
These makes them much more error prone.

My northbridge fan died last spring, which resulted in a complete hardware failure with a nasty 48GB of data loss.

PCGamer UK reviewed these.

It has a range of approximately 5 metres, and requires 3xAA batteries.

It's also available from Aria (http://www.aria.co.uk).

The article itself was very funny, since it constantly used army terminology, amongst other missile references.

The launcher got 83%. They said that, if you're in a "war zone", it's a vital purchase, despite, if "your gaming nation is invaded by a human-powered Nerf Gun-wielding strike force", you'll run out of battery power, and that, "in the event that your desk is set upon by airborne ninjas from all sides", it won't be able to rearm, reaim and refire in time.

By the way, sorry I haven't been around. My 19th came and went, and I had to game until my eyes popped out of my head through tiredness.

Or at least I always do, since I don't think it's possible to remove the motherboard (or it's a whole lot of trouble). Plus by the time I upgrade the motherboard, there's no way the new one will fit properly on the old case.

Also, I'm not quite sure if it was left in the right hands tough, when I asked him about the graphics card, he just said "Oh, there's no need for that, the motherboard has one built in"...
