GARN!!! THEY'VE RUINED AW!!!

On a lighter note, I just came back from a painballing session... with 39 other people. We were told we'd get padding. What me GOT were a pair of .5 mm thick camo overalls. And I wore a cricket box(or cup. Whatever you call it).

I now have huge welts on my pecs on either side of my body, one on my right leg, one(I think) on my shoulder and my right ring finger now has a seriously hurt knuckle. And someone tried to shoot me in the "special place". Luckily, the box stopped it.

And I was one of the luckier ones! One guy got hammered on his left cheek from about 2.5 feet! And a friend of mine had about 13 wounds in him!

To anyone going paintballing: Bring a box, and watch out.

I took this personality test.

Here are the results.

They're startlingly accurate. Really.

Type: ISFP
Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Percieving
"It's the thought that counts."
Approximately 6% of the American population.

The psychic part...

ISFPs are gentle, caring and sensitive people, who keep much of their intensely personal ideas and values to themselves. They more often express their deeply felt passions through actions rather than through words.

Modest and reserved, ISFPs are really tremendously warm and enthusiastic people but tend not to show that side of themselves except with people they know well and trust fully. ISFPs tend to be misunderstood because of their tendency not to express themselves directly.

ISFPs are patient, flexible and easy to get along with and have little need to dominate or control others. They are nonjudgmental and accepting of others' behavior in a rather matter-of-fact way. They are observant of people around them and do not seek to find motives or meanings.

Because ISFPs live completely in the present moment, they do not tend to prepare or plan more than necessary. Good short range planners, they are relaxed about getting things done because they are fully engaged in the here and now and like to enjoy the current experience without rushing onto the next.

Interested in what they learn and sense directly from their experiences and senses, they are often artistic and aesthetic, and seek to create beautiful and personal environments for themselves.

Without the need to lead, ISFPs are often loyal followers and good team members. Because they use their personal values to judge everything in life, they like other people who take the time to get to know them and understand their inner loyalties.

A few minor flaws...

The highly sensitive nature of ISFPs allows them to clearly see the needs that they neglect themselves in the process. This can result in their becoming physically ill from exhaustion and overwork. They need to take time out from caring for others and take care of themselves.

Because the focus is so compltely on their experience in the moment, they tend not to look beyond the present, and miss the broader view. They sometimes have difficulty understanding things in a more complex context. Because they don't exist at the present time, they don't tend to prepare in advance. They often have trouble organizing their time and resources. They may have to work hard to curb their impulse to go off and enjoy a quiet moment, or participate in a favorite activity.

ISFPs are vulnerable to the criticism of others because they tend to take feedback personally and become offended and discouraged. They may be seen as gullible and too trusting because they accept people and things they are and don't expect a malicious motive or read anything else into them. They need to become more assertive about their own needs and consider the implications of another's behavior. By applying some objectivity and skepticism to their analysis, they can become better judges of character.

SomePerson

I took that once, and I'm an ISFJ. And yes, it's a scarily accurate test...

ISFJs are characterized above all by their desire to serve others, their "need to be needed." In extreme cases, this need is so strong that standard give-and-take relationships are deeply unsatisfying to them; however, most ISFJs find more than enough with which to occupy themselves within the framework of a normal life. (Since ISFJs, like all SJs, are very much bound by the prevailing social conventions, their form of "service" is likely to exclude any elements of moral or political controversy; they specialize in the local, the personal, and the practical.)

ISFJs are often unappreciated, at work, home, and play. Ironically, because they prove over and over that they can be relied on for their loyalty and unstinting, high-quality work, those around them often take them for granted--even take advantage of them. Admittedly, the problem is sometimes aggravated by the ISFJs themselves; for instance, they are notoriously bad at delegating ("If you want it done right, do it yourself"). And although they're hurt by being treated like doormats, they are often unwilling to toot their own horns about their accomplishments because they feel that although they deserve more credit than they're getting, it's somehow wrong to want any sort of reward for doing work (which is supposed to be a virtue in itself). (And as low-profile Is, their actions don't call attention to themselves as with charismatic Es.) Because of all of this, ISFJs are often overworked, and as a result may suffer from psychosomatic illnesses.

In the workplace, ISFJs are methodical and accurate workers, often with very good memories and unexpected analytic abilities; they are also good with people in small-group or one-on-one situations because of their patient and genuinely sympathetic approach to dealing with others. ISFJs make pleasant and reliable co-workers and exemplary employees, but tend to be harried and uncomfortable in supervisory roles. They are capable of forming strong loyalties, but these are personal rather than institutional loyalties; if someone they've bonded with in this way leaves the company, the ISFJ will leave with them, if given the option. Traditional careers for an ISFJ include: teaching, social work, most religious work, nursing, medicine (general practice only), clerical and and secretarial work of any kind, and some kinds of administrative careers.

While their work ethic is high on the ISFJ priority list, their families are the centers of their lives. ISFJs are extremely warm and demonstrative within the family circle--and often possessive of their loved ones, as well. When these include Es who want to socialize with the rest of the world, or self-contained ITs, the ISFJ must learn to adjust to these behaviors and not interpret them as rejection. Being SJs, they place a strong emphasis on conventional behavior (although, unlike STJs, they are usually as concerned with being "nice" as with strict propriety); if any of their nearest and dearest depart from the straight-and-narrow, it causes the ISFJ major embarrassment: the closer the relationship and the more public the act, the more intense the embarrassment (a fact which many of their teenage children take gleeful advantage of). Over time, however, ISFJs usually mellow, and learn to regard the culprits as harmless eccentrics :-). Needless to say, ISFJs take infinite trouble over meals, gifts, celebrations, etc., for their loved ones--although strong Js may tend to focus more on what the recipient should want rather than what they do want.

Like most Is, ISFJs have a few, close friends. They are extremely loyal to these, and are ready to provide emotional and practical support at a moment's notice. (However, like most Fs they hate confrontation; if you get into a fight, don't expect them to jump in after you. You can count on them, however, run and get the nearest authority figure.) Unlike with EPs, the older the friendship is, the more an ISFJ will value it. One ISFJ trait that is easily misunderstood by those who haven't known them long is that they are often unable to either hide or articulate any distress they may be feeling. For instance, an ISFJ child may be reproved for "sulking," the actual cause of which is a combination of physical illness plus misguided "good manners." An adult ISFJ may drive a (later ashamed) friend or SO into a fit of temper over the ISFJ's unexplained moodiness, only afterwards to explain about a death in the family they "didn't want to burden anyone with." Those close to ISFJs should learn to watch for the warning signs in these situations and take the initiative themselves to uncover the problem.

Not his 5 kills? O...kaaay...?

Come on newcomers, we need you all to post in here. Everybody with access to OD needs to post at least once in here so we can just check here later if necessary to see if y'all are in instead of searching on your name and all that crap.Indeed, it's a rather useful indexing tool.

Aside from the chance to talk about marmalade. I mean, c'mon, how often do get the chance to talk about lamp-posts?

OMG how long is this thread?!? It's amazing how much random crap people can post...not that I'm against random crap or anything :p4103 posts. Yes, it is. I'm glad of that :).

It is my observation that the most off-topic threads are also the longest. This because you will always hit the boundaries of on-topic eventually, but off-topic is boundless.

UnKnown X
28 May 2004, 10:23
Not everything on-topic has boundaries. This thread for example. Most of the posts have been on-topic, or off-topic which makes it on-topic since this is an off-topic thread that you have to write off-topic stuff in, which makes it on-topic. So this is on-topic.

Oh no we're going off topic by sticking to a topic now! Quick, uhh, are you a bunny?

If you are trying to eat Frosted Flakes, or something similar with Rice Crispies, put the Frosted Flakes into the bowl first, because Rice Crispies float like crazy, and if they are on the bottom, they will push the Frosted Flakes out of the bowl when you put the milk in.

Okay...sorry I was just told of the hell funniest thing the other day: One of my friends was in the park sitting on the bench, with all these other kids around, when suddenly this spastic/demented guy comes walking/stumbling towards them. All the other kids ran away, but my friend just sat there. Then suddenly the spastic guy latches onto my friend's leg (he was like, my age) and started biting her, and digging his claws into her leg...some other people came to help her and eventually pryed him off, and she was bleeding from his teeth marks. OMG I cracked up so much when she told me this. She didn't even try to defend herself...omg if some freak attacked me like that I'd punch him in the head, even if he was demented.

Managed to get someone out of my room by going to CricInfo. Incidentally, Eng. are in a strong position to go for a win tomorrow:

New Zealand 409 & 102/5
England 526

Eng's first innings featured 132 for Tresco, 100 for G. Jones, 94 for Flintoff and 62 for Strauss.

Well, I just got Sonic Adventure DX for the PC, which has an incredibly bizarre security feature. It says in the manual you need Disc 2 to play, but upon insertion of Disc 2, it tells you to insert Disc 1. Upon insertion of Disc 1, it tells you to insert Disc 2. Then it starts, accompanied by a symphony of error boxes.

I mean, I'm all for security measures in games, but that's just plain whacko.

No, it stands for "Mortal Kombat: Drunk and Disorderly", a new fighting game set in Portugal after England lose to Croatia and the hooligans are more than slightly miffed. Featuring such characters as Brad, Jason, and Scary Drunk Guy, the game is scheduled for release on the 17th.

I just got Soul Caliber 2. The Gamecube version, of course.

It's kinda hard to focus on the combat with the female characters' anatomy flopping in all directions.

Not that that's really a bad thing.

More seriously, the game's graphics are stunning and the action is wonderfully brutal without gratuitous gore spewing everywhere. Excellent stuff. If you like fighters at all, check it out. And even if you don't, give it a look.
