Might be worth pointing out: I know several women who are actually very good at Worms but refuse to participate in the online community because it's too "blokish".

Perhaps it wouldn't be so blokish if they did participate in it. How do we make the community more girly?

I'm strongly considering running its contents through the paper shredder and mailing them back.

I stuffed all of their correspondence into one of their pre-paid envelopes and stuck it in the mail. I stuck some bonus stuff from Churchill in there too. The envelope burst but I just taped it shut.

Also I did the same thing to Mint, only I cut one corner off the envelope so it matched their card.

I honestly don't know Paul. :p

Also, our new floor manager called me to his office today, because he listened to one of my calls and I didn't MAXimize(try to sell something to a customer).
The call he listened to was my last call before going to lunch, and this particular time I didn't try to sell because I wanted the call to end because I was f**king hungry. So I told him that, not with those words obviously.
So he told me how he does not tolerate this kind of behaviour, and how he has worked hard for my particular group to push us into being better, and how he is dissapointed at this.
Now he says he will "prioritize" me and doesn't want this to happen again.
That means he'll keep me under watch, and he'll probably have me suspended if he catches me not MAXimizing during a call again.
At which point I'm seriously considering telling him to stuff it up his ass.
I am suposed to try to sell in every call I resolve, so I'm technically not doing what I'm suposed to do, but last time I checked I'm ranking A, and the only one in my group ranking A at the momment. I woud be ranking AA, if it wasn't because last month I skipped work twice :p. And that's because I'm doing great in all other aspects. I'm guessing if this was such a bad thing, I wouln't be ranking that high at all. He's just trying to act all big boss with all his intolerance and threatening, and I'm just so tempted to knock him off from his high horse.
That'll probably get me kicked, or at least kill any opportunity of getting anywhere higher in my job tho...

This one time she and someone else were calling us row per row to log off for a communicate about a change in the schedule back in february.
So after being told to log off some dude asked "Are they gonna kick us out or what?", in a jokingly manner, and she heard. And she was like "So that's what your conscience must be like, huh?" and some people laughed... then she was like "No, seriously. I'm gonna check your files and I want you in my office in 1 hour..."

I've just bought myself Mega Man: Powered Up, and having only just started playing it, I'm loving it. :p If you allow yourself to enjoy the overly cartoony graphics and sounds, they're extremely well done and immensely charming. Best of all, playing the classic style game (which has the exact original stages and no added crap, etc.) even uses the classic NES music. It's good stuff. And to think, I haven't even touched the level editor yet. Oh yeah, and I think you get to play as Protoman later on. Squee, etc.

...Doesn't make those damn lift platforms in Guts Man's stage any easier, of course.

Edit: Haha, I'm really loving this. The little wiggle the enemies make before they blow up, Mega Man's weary expression when he's down on health... A lot of love was put into this, I think. That's the thing about the Mega Man team. They can do really incredible stuff when they really feel like it, but a lot of times they just don't bother.

Sorry to hear about your trouble, Angel. Your work place bosses sound like idiots, to me. I don't understand why some managers think the best way to motivate a team is to threaten them, while other managers encourage and positively reinforce their team members and achieve the same results (less the irritation).

Work's been a bit **** to me too, recently.

God, I remember those days.

Back when all the boys used to come running all the way across the town to get a taste of memma's old-fashioned salted pork rinds and me and the boys used to walk along the river, eating those rinds and catching frogs and then we'd let them go in the school and all the girls would raise a terrible ruckus, which made my grandmomma used to say that we were all tangled up in the devils hair, rest her soul but I remember when she used to sit out on the back porch, smoking her corncob pipe and telling the kids stories about the war and the smoke smelled like it came right out of the ol' fire and brimstone and my little brother didn't like it, but it sure made me feel good deep down inside and when she finished me and the other boys would run down to the blackwalk and play Skitter Ball and Dum-Dum Charlie and my little brother would always be Charlie, even though he hated it so and he always said that he'd get back at us someday even though we all knew that as he grew up we'd all keep going just as quick and then we'd hear the ringing of the ol' church bell and we all knew it was time to go home and then we'd rush back home and we'd make gingerbread cookies with the mom and I swear our daddy said they were the best darn cookies he ever done tasted and we'd all laugh but then it would be late and we'd have to go to bed but when we woke up we had to get going on our morning chores like pluckin' hens and washing the floors and when we were done we'd get awarded with 6 pennies 'cause our daddy always says that a man ought to be rewarded for doing good work and we'd run down to Jebediah's corner store and buy 6 pennies worth of chewing gum and ol' Jebediah would usually give us a popsicle or two on the house and we'd run along chewing our gum and licking those ice-sticks all the way to devil's canyon and there was this giant rock wall that was full o' holes and was just perfect for playing robbers-n-cobblers, though we all said that the canyon was haunted because once some kids found an Indian skeleton in one of the caves so we never stay too long after dark because then all of the ghosts would come out but guess what this one time me and my brother and the boys were playing gold-in-the-socket out on devil's canyon and my brother got lost out in one of the caves and we looked for him all day and when we finally found I swear there was a ghost right behind him and we all screamed and ran away and as soon as we got home our parents knew what we had been doing for sure and we knew what was coming and we got a whipping like we never got before and I know I learned my lesson I aint never going out to devil's canyon again but this one time out on Turtle-bone creek I found a real Indian moccasin and I was the envy of all the boys around when I showed it around in school but then I bet it against Peter's real baseball glove and I lost the bet and he got it and I certainly learned my lesson and I'll never bet again but then when it was Christmas time I bet again and I won my moccasin back and I'll bet a whole lot now but I remember christmas time when my memma my daddy my brother and me would go out and chop down a christmas tree sometimes my daddy let my brother give the last chop to bring the tree down and you ought to see how his eyes lit up so and then we'd take that tree back home and decorate it with all of our ol' family ornaments and we'd all get presents and one time I got a real Indian headdress and I was the envy of every kid in town and then my memma would make a big bowl of her old fashioned christmas pudding and we'd all sit for hours licking those spoons but that was all over when the town burnt down.

I have a small scar on my forehead from this one time I fell when I was like 3 or 4 years old, I was carrying a glass coke bottle, and I think maybe the broken glass cut my forehead or something. They had to use stitches to close it.
But so far only my little cousing has made a Harry Potter reference.

I still remember when I was in kindergarden, I had this bandage on my head and all the kids were like "C'mon lift it!" so I lifted it up and everyone was like "Ooooooooooooooooooooh". Classic. :p

I don't think I've mentioned this yet, so...

There's a game called Braid in development that is a simple platformer, run-n-jump type stuff.
Except in each level, time acts in a different way.

This isn't weenie time travel like in Blinx or POP, either. The time travel is fully integrated into the world, it's not a limited power. It's more of a puzzle game, really.

In one level you can rewind time, so if you fall in a pit and die, you could just rewind until you're alive again.
In another level time is based on space, so as you move right, time goes forward, and as you move left, it goes backward.
Stuff like that.

There's a video of it in action in the middle of this 45 minute lecture about prototyping he gives, which is interesting, but the actual gameplay video begins at 14:30.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3727092195323329487&q=Braid+Jonathan+Blow&total=1&start=0&num=100&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

Who is it? (It's not much of a spoiler if you just say his name)Digi-Boy with the Cosmic Dolphin. And then PJ with the seriously awesome Groovy Taxi. :DI was actually able to unlock all of them, believe it or not.
It was one of the most difficult video game challenges I've ever overcome.I was thinking the same thing. This is like almost Nethack hard. Times I've attempted the F-Zero Grand Prix one? Far, far too many to count. Times I've beaten it? On Normal, no less? Once. That's the only one I haven't even beaten on Hard yet.See, that game gives awesome rewards for completing really hard challenges, which seems proper but it's kind of annoying because you want that extra racer NOW. :mad:How utterly true. :-/ I want to complete my stable, dammit.

The only one I've unlocked besides those two is the Silver Rat, which I find completely useless for its morbidly pitiful top speed. I've tried to win with it. It just can't be done.

Spark Moon is alright to drive, but, I dunno, something about it kinda puts me off. Its grip seems flawed to me at such a point where I have a hard time predicting how hard I can push it or something. Or maybe I was just a little off my game when I tried it out earlier. The Rolling Turtle is pretty good, I find.

Also: You know the short movies that you unlock by beating the Grand Prix on the Master difficulty with whatever character? Most of them are pretty dumb, but PJ's is the best so far by a long shot.

I have a PlayStation 3 now.

Yeah.

My Dad and I had been talking about splitting the cost between us and buying one at some point, purely as a Blu-ray Player. Sure enough we bought the console, two movies (Corpse Bride, which is much more accessible than The Nightmare Before Christmas and also appears to make more sense despite a rather niggling plothole; and The Fountain, which... well, it's an emotional journey that hits very close to home for me right now...) and a remote control. I also picked up a remote for my 360, because we've been using it to stream DivX videos.

I knew Lemmings and Super Stardust HD were available to buy online, so I bought them. I'm very impressed with both - Lemmings PS3 is very quickly becoming my favourite game in the series, while Super Stardust HD is... just... awesome encarnate. I also tried the Heavenly Sword demo, and where I had previously held no interest in the game whatsoever, I now know that I must own that game.

That being said, that's only three games. I would not recommend buying the PS3 now if you're looking for a games console. If you're looking for a Blu-ray Player, then it's the best one on the market at half the price.

what's your thoughts on paramount cancelling all blu ray releases and nbc universal releasing their tv shows on hd dvd

Squirminator2k
4 Sep 2007, 19:54
You mean Paramount and DreamWorks shifting to HD-DVD exclusively for an eighteen-month period? From the murmers I've heard (and this is hardly concrete or conclusive) it sounds like Paramount received a financial kickback from the DVD Forum to shift exclusively to the format. Remember it's only for an eigtheen-month period, and all market indications suggest that they'll be likely to shift to Blu-ray at the end of that time.

I can't comment on the NCB Universal matter, though. It is worth pointing out that while HD-DVD is perhaps easier to author (which makes it ideal for television show releases) there are more benefits to the Blu-ray medium.

Apparently, the CD is the diameter it is because at its original diameter (which game 60mins of music), you could not fit Beethoven's 9th Symphony on it, in its entirety. Sony demanded this be changed, so we now have a 74min 12cm dia. disc.

As I said over at RealVG a while back, optical storage seems to be heading into a law-of-diminishing-returns situation. CD and DVD had a clear, definite purpose that the average person can understand: random-access audio and random-access video. Blu-ray and DVD don't have that so much.

Well that heavy machine thing they are using to construct the elevated metro system apaprently broke down and part of it fell, injuring five of the construction workers. I heard the thing cost him $15,000 mexican pesos. That's around $1,300 US. He's going to charge cover, around $8 US / person tho. So far around 150 people have been confirmed to go.

I would go but I have work the day after, and I can't skip work because I already got suspended once last week for being late, and a second skip will affect my ranking. :p

http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/augustnpd2.jpg

HO DAMN SONY IS TOTALLY BEATING EVERYONE ELS...

What's that you say? That column on the left is for the entire Sony family, which means that if the Wii and DS sales were combined into a column representing the Nintendo family, it would be nearly twice as big? Well I'll be.

[EDIT]
THEY KEEP DOING IT AGH.
The Sony Family showed very strong July sales with a total of 595,000 pieces of hardware sold. In comparison only 170,000 Xbox 360s were sold and the Sony platform even managed to outsell the much hyped Nintendo Wii which only reached a total of 425,000 sold. Here is the complete breakdown of U.S. game sales in July:

PlayStation Platforms - 595k
Wii - 425k
Nintendo DS - 405k
Xbox 360 -170k
Game Boy Advance - 87k

Looks like the gaming world still belongs to Sony.
Yep. Sony totally owns it, even though Nintendo has sold 322k more than Sony according to that data. Woo.

Why can't they just take pride in their preferred console rather than manipulating data to make themselves appear to be on top?
