Spooky Ball is brilliant if you can clear all the pegs except for the two greens and an orange. Your ball still drops back into the top of the screen so you get 300,000+ for one shot.

Google have released some of their street view images for the UK. I saw one of their cars while I was driving along the A59 but they haven't made that available online yet. Yeah I don't see this being a big success.
I mean, the whole "remote playing" is easy. There's already plenty of software that allows you to indirectly control another computer, or watch someone else's games, etc.
But as everyone mentioned, lag. All these methods are known for being remarkably connection-intensive, and thus laggy. Not to mention if you wanna keep a reasonable 20fps or something. There's been plenty of claims before to "magically" make lagless gaming with funky rerouting and filtering and hardware and what not and none of them have ever made it past vaporware.

I got my 5-in-1 Geek Pen (http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/tools/b23c/), but I can't seem to make it work. I think I'm probably too dumb to figure out how the batteries are supposed to go in. :(
I've googled, and all the mentions I get are that there's supposedly a seperator between two of the three batteries -- I didn't find one -- and one site says only two of the batteries are actually needed. Blerk. There's nothing on the pen, and the packaging was about as useless as it could possibly have hoped to be.
Grunt.
Edit: There also exists a chance that I got a friggin' bum pen, of course.
Edit again, why do I always edit everything I post 4 times to add new thoughts: Actually I'd say the highest likelihood is probably that the absence of the seperator is actually my problem, and the three batteries simply spent themselves while stockpiled. I'll have to look for replacements, though they're obscure little things.

Games are to painting what movies are to paintings.
Therefore, game based movies will always suck.
Or, just maybe, I'm not seeing the bigger picture; a painting about painting might be quite phenomenal.

Yes and no.
Games are to painting (verb) what movies are to paintings (noun).
So, games are interactive, like when you paint something whereas movies are passive, like when you look at a painting.

Most games don't require or let the player to be creative..
So if watching a movie is like looking at a painting, then most games are more like picking up the canvas and running around with it. :p
Maybe.
The point I was making didn't take creatvity into account, only that you can directly affect the outcome (albeit far more restricted in a game). I don't want to get too caught up in comparing every facet of each activity, though, as it was just a passing thought.
Actually your analogy works just as well, since neither would translate well into each other, or something.
I dunno. Look, the REAL issue here is that film license games suck and game license films suck.
This does not include the Mega Man X anime as that is great.

Yes, but that's a special case. You know you're going to have difficulties of that sort when the man responsible named himself after a character from Final Fantasy VII. :p

No. Unless it was a painting designed to be watched being painted. The painting is a finished work, as is the film. And they're entirely passive (as far as anything is).
But gaming is more like watching a movie than painting a picture. It's interactive, appreciating someone else's work. It's not creative, unless it's one of those pretentious games that are creative, and that depends on the definition of 'game'.

Any game with UGC can be creative. Worms, for example, is made infinitely better thanks to the creativity behind speechbanks, graves, flags, teams, schemes and maps. LittleBigPlanet is another obvious example, as well as things like Guitar Hero World Tour with it's music studio.
I know what you're saying, though, and I counter it with modern art. It's about as creative as kicking a wall, though producing modern art is still an interactive process and looking at it is still a passive act. And it gets its own special galleries.
I think we all know what he meant. the purpose of language is to get a point across. he succeeded. quit being pedantic *******s :p
But it's fun! No, you're right. Everyone else is a pedantic *******. ;)
I think there comes a time when you should just admit it was a bad comparison to begin with instead of trying to find ways of making it work. Comparisons are used to explain something in a simpler way, so having to explain the comparison just seems counter intuitive..

Woo, internet access after five days of no internet access!
This week we closed up business for vacation, so we rented a nice small cabin in the mountains near the city of Durango, Mexico.
The place was lovely, it had solar powered lights, and a chimney for heat. Around 10 hours away from home tho, so it was a long ride Plus it was our first time coming here so it felt even longer. :p
Nights were cold and days were just about fine. It had a river crossing right next to it, and there was plenty of places to explore around. Took plenty of pictures but I have to sort them out first.
We only had it rented till today, because someone else already had booked it for today, so we came back to the city of Durango and were staying in a hotel here tonight and will head back home tomorrow.
All in all, it was a good vacation.

Due to my age, the vast majority of these I bought used. I have a mouse, but not a pad :(
Nice collection there, though! How many are boxed with a manual?
Not many, I care more about the games than the collection status. It's just a really cheap way to play some awesome games legally.

I've heard of that, I never got around to filling it in properly (due to the fact that I suck at most games and have only completed a few ;P)
And because I'm feeling quite decisively un-lazy, I've decided to catalogue the few not in that big catalogue. Most of these I bought with a MD II just because it had Worms with it and I wanted to see just how bad it was :p. The ones I will add (once I've finished editting this post) are:

That's the MIMP Mega Man X and Japanese Rockman X carts talking, isn't it? Thanks! :)
Actually I need a second one to house the rest of my stuff. I don't quite have Muzer's collection but what I have I like to display in a cabinet.
Maybe I should photograph my desk, too, since it's positively littered with geeky crap (Transformers, gashapons, mini-mates, LEGO, a Mega Man figure)... but then again it might just show me up for the childish geek I am. ;)
Paul, their system works as follows:
Null
Not counted in your backlog statistics.
Unfinished
No significant accomplishments.
Beaten
The main objective has been accomplished. Usually marked by the defeat of a final boss and/or viewing of credits.
Completed
For games which are 100% done. All extras and modes have been unlocked and finished. All significant items have been collected.
Mastered
A special rank for completed games in which a difficult, user-defined challenge or speed run has been successfully finished.
I'm marking Infected (PSP) as Mastered as I did QA on it and can get through it all in about 2 hours. Unfortunately I can't mark Mega Man X as Mastered until I do the "no upgrades" run through... I must get around to that at some point.
SupSuper

Zombie avatar maker! http://www.popcap.com/promos/pvz/
So how do they define "beaten", "completed" and "mastered", then?
Unfinished - No significant accomplishments. What injustice did these poor games commit to incur such neglect? No one knows for sure. They now spend their days sitting on shelves, silently crying out to be played. The most unfortunate are still encased in their shrink wrap tombs, having never even once been nestled in the warm embrace of a game system that has been powered on.
Beaten - The main objective has been accomplished. Usually marked by the defeat of a final boss and/or viewing of credits. You've stormed the castle, rescued the girl, and saved the universe from the clutches of an unspeakable evil. Consider yourself a hero! Some games don't have that obvious climactic victory, but chances are, you can find some goal to reach before considering it beaten.
Completed - For games which are 100% done. All extras and modes have been unlocked and finished. All significant items have been collected. Are you a completionist? Spent the extra time so you could say you did everything? Or maybe there just wasn't a whole lot to do outside of beating the final boss. Either way, nothing is more satisfying than a good ol' 100%.
Mastered is a special status for Completed games, marked by a crystal icon. Master crystals are earned by challenging yourself beyond a game's usual scope. For example, you could pass up health expansions to limit yourself to the least possible health throughout the game, or you could use the weakest equipment. Speed runs are also a great idea. Be creative and push your skills to the limit!
I have very little Handheld games, and I keep track of them all in my Mobygames profile (http://www.mobygames.com/user/sheet/view/havelist/userSheetId,65089/), so here's a copy-paste:
Game Boy (2 games total)

F-Zero: Maximum Velocity

Super Mario Advance

Brain Age Express: Math (Dsiware)

GameGear:
Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse
Although I don't have a GameGear. Never had it even. I don't know where this game came from...
Aww, I have a broken GameGear upstairs somewhere too. It's been that way ever since I lent it to a schoolmate's sister in 1999 or something silly like that. :(
Not that many games to go with it because I mostly borrowed them from my two cousins who had what appeared to be all of them, but there should be around a dozen, many of them Sonic games. Oh and Robocod, which was awesome. Also Ecco the Dolphin. And Devilish, a freaky flipper game that I remember being extremely hard. Good times!

Yes! Belt and buckle not included though.
On a completely unrelated note, this is rather awesome; http://binsybaby.livejournal.com/597341.html
Anyone up for attempting something like this? That was made by just two people, but I'm sure any number of participants will do fine. Comics and games are of certain popularity here, and many variations have been tried.. but I don't think this particular combination has been tried yet?

Yeah kinda, but not with sigworms. Just like the classic "write a paragraph of the story and send it on" game but with a comic. Perhaps 2-6 people so it doesn't take ages to get your turn again.
We'd need to some kind of standard for how to draw because everybody's style is so different. That or we let the comic change appearance completely every panel :p

I've realized that I'm in a sticky situation and I need some outside perspective, I think. I don't usually come to you guys for help, but I need someone who isn't biased and you guys also have a good track record for telling me if I'm being an idiot.
anyway, let's get this wall of text on the road.
I'm trying to figure out what I want in life, I think. As you all should know by this point, I'm married. I've been married for 2 years now and mostly without any hiccups. Unfortunately, I've grown bored. I've grown bored in general, honestly. I'm awaiting college later on in the year to help aid with this boredom because I've realized that I'm bored due to a complete lack of challenges in my life. The problem, though, is that I'm also feeling the same lack of challenge from my wife. We have a number of things in common but I'm starting to think it's all the peripheral things rather than the core things. Who I am is fairly well summed up in my main interests. I enjoy participating in sarcastic/witty conversation to challenge my thinking speed. I enjoy video games to test my coordination and regular thought processes. I enjoy art to challenge my creativity and I enjoy karate to challenge my body physically....my wife, however, enjoys none of these things.
we get along just fine. we make great friends and room mates if absolutely nothing else, my concern is that we aren't quite cut out to be married and that our relationship thus far has been more riding on how great we are as room mates.
however, there's a hitch in my thinking. I've got another friend who I've been best friends with since nearly as long as I've been with my wife. We get along great and she's rather attractive. She also possesses a flair for witty conversation, a love of video games and the culture surrounding such, and a skill in art. We've both had a mutual attraction going for....a good long while now. it's mostly been irrelevant (we accepted that we liked each other and just basically let it sit there, preferring to be good friends), but as things progress I realize more and more the missing qualities in my wife that I see in my friend. Things that are by no means exclusive to just this friend, but things that I'm finding it harder and harder to imagine being happy if my wife doesn't possess them.
I'm not sure how much of this confusion is caused simply by my attraction for this friend and how much of it is actual concern. I'm worried that my brain is harping on "SHINY! NEW! FUN!" rather than intelligent decision making leading to my ultimate happiness. either way, this leaves me with a number of bad choices to make. I still love my wife and have the utmost respect for her. my concern is simply that we aren't cut out for each other. Now, if I still feel for her, is it right to let her go because I'm not sure she's what I want? I'm sure I could be content staying how I am, but I'm not sure if I'd be actually happy. I'm worried that if I throw what I have to the side that I'll later look back and regret having done so because it's the best I can get and I'm just too young to realize it. However, by the same coin, I'm worried that if I DON'T leave I'll be stuck in mediocrity for the rest of my life, feeling bored and unchallenged. On top of everything is the constant nagging doubt that I'm even actually worried about making this decision rather than just worried about "getting some" from my attractive friend. I don't want to be that kind of guy, but don't trust myself completely enough to forego the idea completely. How much of this decision-making process is me and how much is me forcing my own desires onto myself so that I can still wear some arbitrary tag of righteousness? for that matter, how much of this is me and how much is my desire for something new?
I'm lost here and need a pointing in the right direction. I can elaborate further on anything that needs to be, and given my frazzled mind right now I fully expect I left a number of confusing points, so please forgive those.
what do you guys think I should do? even giving me something to consider in my trek for a final decision will be greatly appreciated, no matter how minor it seems.
In 10 years' time, which decision do you think you would regret making most?

Sounds like you need a bit of spice in your life. I think I read somewhere that 2 years is the point where the 'original spark' tends to wear off. I feel like an agony aunt in a women's magazine but maybe both of you should try a bit harder at having a relationship - go out to meals, do the things you used to do (including 'bedroom duties').
The stupid thing to do would be to make the decision too early, or too late. You need to take your time and decide. Either way, I think being closer to your wife by doing more things together might help that.
Or be a polygamist... you should at least bark up the threesome tree first.
I should feel bad suggesting that... but it's only a joke.
At first you should make sure that your wife doesn't read that post.
Otherwise you might not need to make a decision at all. :p
But anyway, you should try to switch away from your perspective.
What are her interests that don't interest you? You might want to do something with her.
I doubt that she doesn't have any interests at all.
Also, think back what you did when you met her. I don't think you were playing computer, drawing paintings and exchanging karate chops.
You could also do like I did and have unprotected sex and get a baby.
Will get you a lot of things in common and you'll have a common enemy that you can blame everything on. ;)

In all seriousness, you should do as bonz says and try to spend more time with your wife, find more things you have in common. You should look back and remember why you married her in the first place. Unless you were drunk in las vegas...
And as bonz says, you should explore the possibility of having a kid. At the very least it will keep you distracted for 20 or so years. :P

i can almost guarantee that this is a situation where the grass seems greener on the other side. instead of pursuing something rash, i think you need to have some serious frank conversations with your wife about the state of your marriage and see if she is feeling the same way. if so, some sort of counseling may be in order
You could also do like I did and have unprotected sex and get a baby.

In 10 years' time, which decision do you think you would regret making most?that's a question I've been asking myself and I can't think of an answer to, honestly.
The stupid thing to do would be to make the decision too early, or too late. You need to take your time and decide. Either way, I think being closer to your wife by doing more things together might help that.yeah, my plan thus far has been to try out going to college where I CAN feel challenged and my life will be interesting again and then see if I'm still bored with just her or if it was just the rest of everything being bored. my issue with this plan, though, is it doesn't feel quite fair. seems kinda wrong to drag her along with me, taking her away from everything and everyone just to later decide that it wasn't going to happen anyway.
Or be a polygamist... you should at least bark up the threesome tree first.
I should feel bad suggesting that... but it's only a joke.actually, my wife has said before that she's up for that sort of thing. I've also got free rein with the friend I've been talking about as well. my wife understands that we are rather young and my body's still screaming at me to go out and screw anything with boobs :p said friend is also up for the idea. the way things have been going I've got a fair chance of sleeping with her within the next week or two, and I've been making myself wait until after that as well to see if that helps out with any of my boredom.
But anyway, you should try to switch away from your perspective.
What are her interests that don't interest you? You might want to do something with her.
I doubt that she doesn't have any interests at all.actually been thinking of that as well. what she's interested in is her social life, really. she likes her family her friends and her pets. this is one reason I feel so worried about all this mess. if I stay with her I'll be taking her away from all of these things. I doubt her cats will be able to follow us off to college, and neither of us have any idea what we can do with them. she goes to her family for practically everything and again, they won't be able to follow us. she hates new places where she knows no one, so this is one reason why I'm trying to figure all this mess in my head out before going. I don't want to take her away from everything just to have her come back later on. doesn't seem fair. the only other real serious interest of hers is reading. which is something I do, but something we can't really share any form of interest in.
Also, think back what you did when you met her. I don't think you were playing computer, drawing paintings and exchanging karate chops.we met in high school, so we were just being friends there, and as I mentioned, we make great friends. all we used to do alone is watch movies. we still do that from time to time, but it kinda gets overly repetative over time. that's one of my issues here. I'd like to find something more for us to do given how our situation has changed, but she's not interested in any of the things I do with my friends.
You could also do like I did and have unprotected sex and get a baby.
Will get you a lot of things in common and you'll have a common enemy that you can blame everything on. ;)
I've read an article that couples who get a child earlier in their relationship have less problems than couples who have been together for quite some time and approach things more slowly.I'd rather like to wait until I have some vague chance of being able to afford a kid, thanks. college is gunna be hectic enough WITHOUT a kid.
and thanks in general for the wide array of opinions here. I'll definitely take everything you've said into consideration.

:PMtl, after a night spent thinking, you've hit the nail on the head here.
I spent the night thinking back to what made our relationship work in the first place...and I realized...it was school. our relationship is entirely based on how we were in school (hanging out with friends, seeing each other alone once in a while an watching a movie or two together then being apart again until the next day). after we graduated we spent our time in very similar circumstances up until the point where we moved in together and later got married. after that point and up until the present we've been basically just living like room mates. We've never bothered to stop and really work out what to do together, we just kinda ran with it. we spend enough time together to be happy and then leave each other to do what they will.
now that I've realized that I've talked to her about the matter and we realize that we don't have a damn common interest between us, really. the circumstances of our relationship are just so strange that it's actually never come up. now that we realize this, we're going to put forth an effort to find something we both enjoy doing. hopefully we find something, but if not then we'll have to see how things go at that point.
this is going to be interesting, lol.
I feel immeasurably stupid for never realizing any of this, btw, so you don't have to mock me for it, I promise. I don't understand, myself, how we got this far without running into this issue.
our relationship is entirely based on how we were in school
Well, wouldn't going to college be a solution of some sort then?
Assuming that you both go to college, you would both have no one that you know, so you could take it as new start.

It's good that you're open about this, but no matter how much both sides are in agreement and how much you're screaming for boobs, just don't. It won't fix anything, at most it'll just kill your curiosity. Plus if you really love each other, you will eventually regret what you did, no matter how open you all were about the whole thing.
I know a couple that went through the same, they were getting bored with each other and thought the solution was to bone other people. Nothing serious, they'd still love each other and stay together, but get to bone other people too. Guess what? It hasn't changed a thing. They're still bored with each other and their relationship is still on thin ice.
Nothing wrong with polygamy, mind. It is possible, but definitely not out of boredom.

NONSENSE!
While I agree that getting it on with different people, each person separately, could hardly help a marriage, I think a threesome is a very different scenario and can actually spice things up a bit. Just don't go crazy with them.
actually, my wife has said before that she's up for that sort of thing.
That's a once in a lifetime opportunity. Do that (as many times as you can) and then get a kitten with your wife. The rest will happen naturally, whatever the outcome.
Problem solved.
Heh, one of my friends first time was a threesome. Way to begin.

Nothing wrong with polygamy, mind. It is possible, but definitely not out of boredom.no, no, no. you've mistaken the whole concept. my wife is up for the idea of a threesome and for me sleeping with someone else if I ever decide that's something I want to try. this was decided between us a long time ago and is entirely unrelated to the current situation. if me and my friend DO decide to sleep with each other it will only be a solution to one extremely minor aspect of my boredom, I promise. it will most likely not effect this current problem in the slightest. after contemplating mtl's comment I can say with assurance that said friend is in no way responsible for the situation, despite my earlier concerns (and trust me, among everything I thought about, that was in the forefront).
as for the rest of the goings on, we've been talking about this whole thing and we really don't know anything that we're both interested in aside from the odd activity and such. we're re-evaluating our relationship and trying to decide one way or another about the whole mess now that we've realized what's happening. not sure if we just need to figure out something to do as a couple or if we just need to realize we've grown out of each other and that we've been nothing but room mates this whole time, but either way we're well on the road to figuring out where we think we should go.
again, thanks for the help, guys. good to know I have another outside source for help in these sorts of things. I'll keep you all updated once we finally come to a decision on what it is we feel is best for the both of us.
