Having been told many times to "get back on topic", I felt it was time to react :). So presenting the Forums' first, totally off topic thread!

Post about anything and everything. The only caveat I make is that every so often someone goes off at a tangent, to maintain the thread's random, spontaneous nature.

To start the ball rolling, I'll talk about hamsters. Anyone else got one? What type/sex? Do they do silly things? My hamster Sparky has a tendency to try and jump off settees. nah i remember something on btp where they searched and found the images or something, so i searched for "team17 avatars", not much came up, so i tried "team17 avatars", nothing at all came up so for the hell of it i searched for "avatars" obviously, nothing conclusive came up, then i searched for "team17", also for the hell of it.

today i went to the beach. obviously forced to, i don't like going to the beach. i'm not young and have fun making sand castles or pools or just going splashing in the water. i mean, i can't even swim, what the hell am i gonna do in the water?!?
and no, the beach isn't a good place to "pick up chicks" (Johnny Bravo quote :p) or even look at them. usually the beach is filled with fat-ass moms with their 5-year old kids which are just plain annoying, all going "WEEEEE WATER!" or "WEEEEE I'M RUNNING AROUND NAKED". seriously, that was one spooky image i don't want to remember.
most of the time all i did was lie down on my towel, sunbathing, and of course playing GBA. i had to take it. although it didn't really have much fun, games are getting boring, even AW2 :eek: (i'm thinking of buying WarioWare Inc, found it on stores). so most of the time i just slept.
i didn't even touch the water. well, that is until my mom decided to be a smartass and poured some chilling water on me while i was sleeping and made me almost freeze to death. the b****. no, i don't care she's my mom, that only makes matters worse since i can't get back at her.
anyways, all and all, it was boring as hell. now that i'm home i seem to be randomly sunburnt. as in, random areas of my back seem to be sunburnt. doesn't hurt of anything, just looks silly. probably has to do with the fact i couldn't stay in one position while sleeping :p

That's WHY games are boring - UT2070 will be the same as UT2K3 (or whatever year it was) which was the same as UT, which in turn was the same as Unreal but with bits taken out to make it the same as Quake III Arena, which in turn was the same as Quake II but with bits taken out, before which it was the same as Quake I, which was the same as Unreal.

I agree with you that games seem to be the same a lot but different games do pop up. And you can't deny games like Half-Life 2. As for UT, I'm probably not going to get UT2k5 because I don't expect much of a difference from UT2k4.

Big - A's need to be gotten on all levels

First of all, the first sentence is gibberish. The second sentence is a ridiculous assumption because 1 in 3 people would be 2,000,000,000 people and there isn't room on the roads for that many bodies. The third sentence displays a lack of understanding about averages, and the last two sentences claim victory based on all the above nonsense.

Try harder next time you want to prove something.

I had trouble on Whispering Cliffs or whatever it is...it's wierd because it said I had to have a park value of at least $17,000 - does that mean if I sold everything to have at least $17,000 worth of stuff, or to have at least $17,000? I had $30,000 something and when october of year three came, it said I had failed! What? :confused:

It has to do with how much the park is worth, so the more money you put into it the better. And the value slowly decreases over time. In park stats or something you can find the value.

Sim Ant, anyone?I never played that one., although I've played most of the others. The great thing about the early Maxis games were the manuals, which were just sheer class. Even up to the likes of SimCopter, the manuals were still excellent. Some of the newer manuals have lost that charm a bit, though.

The demo doesn't get you a real feel for the game. You should really check it out. Plus, if you get it off someone else, it runs without the CD, with all the effects enabled.

But, iirc, my copy had a bug that nothing above the 150th floor would be occupied (all buildings stayed empty and not even elevator went to floor above, nor stairs were used), thus stopping my tower from going on :(
