I just want to mention that I am in no way responsible for Gingerneck, nor for his/her hilarious attack art against me.
http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=32350
I'm not sure if someone else is joking, though. The fact that his/her DA icon is an old woman makes me suspicious.
I honestly want to use one of those pictures as an avatar, but I also don't want them to think that I enjoy it, because then they'd stop.

It seems pretty evident that Gingerneck is a gimmick. The immense concentration of completely absurd things he's said, and the use of an online language translator which doesn't appear to actually exist, looks very suspicious.

I hate torrents. Hate'em hate'em hate'em. Yes I understand they free bandwidth from sites and what not, but I still hate them. They're like a p2p application packed into a file. With all the same downsides. Because nobody seeding the file has a connection comparable to a dedicated server. Heck, 99% of the seeders don't even seem to have broadband. And it's not like the torrent even figures out who has the best connection, it's a first-come-first-serve deal. And don't come telling me that "oh it's not the torrent that does stuff it's the client" because I couldn't give a rat's ass about the terminology. Yes torrents might seem nice in theory but they're not. Not until everyone has a T3 connection or something.
As a case in point, I've had a torrent-downloaded file at 99% for days now! Come on, that 1% is barely 10mb!

Sometimes I had torrents at 99.9% for weeks, until I found out that the client I used (Shareaza) has messed up and the download actually was complete.
I used some 3rd party tool that combined all the bits and everthing worked fine.
This might be the cause in your case.

That's your ISP, network or parent units sucking Sup - Both in England and in Sweden, my torrents (legal and illegal) race near my bandwidth cap, with a few exceptions (if I heavily limit the upload, if it's a really rare file, etc.).
Try murdering your parent units and then changing ISP. >_>

I used to have more success with torrents than I do these days. Obviously it has a lot to do with the popularity of the file. Game-related downloads have given me the best transfer rates but others like Autopatcher (a patching program for Windows XP) are less popular and take quite a bit longer.
I have noticed a general reduction in the transfer rates from the Gnutella 2 network over the past months, yet the program I use, Shareaza, seems to take up a lot of my downrate when open, even though the program only reports download speeds less than 2KB/s in total. Could any of this be related to the US' proposed national data communications bill? [link (http://www.savetheinternet.com)]

Perhaps I'm being a little too ambitious here, but I'm thinking about setting up an online shop. So I need to either have an account on one of those online shop places or do it myself, which I really don't have the time to do. So can anyone recommend a good online shop place, obviously preferably as cheap as possible.
I need it to easily add and edit all the stuff available on the site but also, I'd like it to be a site on it's own. Not an online shop website with my address being www.onlineshop.com/starworms ... or whatever. I want my own site design, universally... so not like the shop has a different design, I want to be able to change all of that. But I just need something to handle card transactions and stuff...

What's annoying to me is that it actually WAS entertaining at the beginning (Especially in the earlier thread of that game), and for some reason it just turned stupid eventually.
I think it has to do with people not trying to put any effort into it whatsoever.
Image macros can be hilarious or quite horrific.
On a new note, the current topic name is excellent.

CS2 (maybe CS1) has a feature where you can warp text - not sure where it is as I don't have CS2 (I've only got PS7).
You should be able to slant text using the Transform stuff in the Edit menu. Just do that before you flatten the image ;)

Now how do I go about getting my domain? I thought I understood it but now I'm not so sure after reading the info on nearlyfreespeech:
Domain Registration
* What is the difference between Domain Registration, DNS Service, and hosting?
This is a source of much confusion to people new to setting up websites as well as to many experienced webmasters. Each of these services has a different purpose and is billed differently. Together, these three components form the chain that links a domain name (like example.com) to a website (like example.cust.nearlyfreespeech.net).
Domain Registration is the process of reserving a domain name with a central authority (called a registry) so that no one but you can use it. Domain names are of the form example.com as opposed to www.example.com. Domain registrars act as intermediaries between you and the registry, and they charge a fixed annual fee for this service. We provide domain registration services for between $7.00 and $7.50 per year for most common top level domains.
DNS or Domain Name Service is used to tell the world what you want to do with your domain name. Most commonly, it is used to create a hostname. Most hostnames have another word attached to the domain name like www.example.com. Each hostname corresponds to a website. It is possible to have more than one hostname per website, but a hostname can only refer to a single site. DNS links this hostname to your website, so when people want to visit www.example.com, their web browser can find it. This is a little like calling directory assistance to have them find a phone number based on someone's name. We offer free DNS service that provides this functionality.
Note: You can use example.com as both a domain name and a hostname but doing so has certain hard-to-understand limitations, and we do not recommend it.
Hosting or Web Hosting refers to the storage and retrieval of your actual web pages. After a web browser has checked with the registrar to see that your domain name is valid, and checked with DNS to find out where to look for your website, it goes to your web host to retrieve your web pages. This is the simplest of the three, and the only one that can work by itself. If you don't have a domain name registered or DNS service, you can always still refer to your site as example.nfshost.com or example.cust.nearlyfreespeech.net.

Now how do I go about getting my domain? I thought I understood it but now I'm not so sure after reading the info on nearlyfreespeech:
Right. As I understand it:
You register your domain with the registrar. The registrar tells ISPs what server the DNS information is on. When someone visits your domain, they need the appropriate IP, so they look that up in DNS information. A DNS server is the server that stores the master copy of that information. NFS.net let you poke about in there pretty well all you like. Then the query is sent to the IP the DNS server gave you: the IP of the server that stores the site itself.
Most of the information above is cached, though, so this chain isn't repeated every time you load a page. The cache is generally refreshed daily-ish.
Most places that will sell you a domain will handle all of the above for you. NFS.net will do that, but they'll assume some level of technical competence on your part.

Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden
The Great B-Ball Purge of 2041, a day so painful to some that it is referred to only as the "B-Ballnacht". Thousands upon thousands of the world's greatest ballers were massacred in a swath of violence and sports bigotry as the game was outlawed worldwide. The reason: the Chaos Dunk, a jam so powerful its mere existence threatens the balance of chaos and order. Among the few ballers and fans that survived the basketball genocide was Charles Barkley, the man capable of performing the "Verboten Jam"...
Flash forward 12 years to the post-cyberpocalyptic ruins of Neo New York, 2053. A Chaos Dunk rocks the island of Manhattan, killing 15 million. When the finger is put on the aging Charles Barkley, he must evade the capture of the B-Ball Removal Department, led by former friend and baller Michael Jordan, and disappear into the dangerous underground of the post-cyberpocalypse to clear his name and find out the mysterious truth behind the Chaos Dunk. Joined by allies along the way, including his son Hoopz, Barkley must face the dangers of a life he thought he gave up a long time ago and discover the secrets behind the terrorist organization B.L.O.O.D.M.O.S.E.S.
A tale of zaubers, b-balls, and atonement; brave dangers unheard of, face spectacular challenges that even the greatest ballers could not overcome, and maybe... just maybe... redeem basketball once and for all in Tales of Game's Studios Presents Chef Boyardee's Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa.

Andy,
Without seeing the document or the rest of its source it's more difficult to help. First, get a doctype (http://www.w3schools.com/xhtml/xhtml_dtd.asp) (or HTML 4.0 (http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_whyusehtml4.asp)) if you haven't already. Then put the contents of the menu div in <p></p>, and add the following to your CSS under .menu:
.menu p { margin: 0; padding: 0 0 0 20px; }
Also, you can replace any four 0s in margin and padding with just the one. That's CSS shorthand. The four numbers in order relate to the top, right, bottom and left (clockwise). You can also use two numbers. That would relate to the top/bottom and the right/left.

Yeah, me, you, splapp, and a few others talked to him then. I haven't seen him online much since, but he seems to dislike me now. :p
And to be fair, he DID post something about his brother nearly being killed by a bear on DA like a week or ago or something. I'm not sure if he's just....weird, or what. : /
Can't someone with programming skills simply write a script that log's everybody's online-time on the forum? Then run it for several weeks until we figure out which Gingereck's other account is.
At least it will help us narrow down the suspect list.

From the xkcd FAQ.
Why can't I read the whole comic mouseover text in Firefox?
They can be read with extensions like Long Titles. This is a bug in Firefox, Mozilla Bug #45375. It has been outstanding for many years now. Both Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics) and I have contacted the developers to let them know how many of our readers it affects and to see if there's anything we can do to help with a fix (offering money or programmers). They repeatedly told us to go away and/or shut up, with some developers saying they'd withold a fix because we were complaining. I've of course learned to be way more cautious about offering to help out with an open-source project. You may want to check out Opera or Internet Explorer.
Note: It looks like this has been fixed in SeaMonkey. I suppose eventually the fix will migrate over to Firefox. (emphasis mine)
I think I've just gone off the open source movement a bit.

For some reason, one of my dad's MP3 players (he has two now: one for rock and pop, one for jazz and stuff) has stopped accepting WMAs. It took a few of them, but thereafter wouldn't allow any more to be copied on. Copying MP3s on still works, and copying WMAs onto the other MP3 player still works. The WMAs have copy-protection turned off, and don't seem to be corrupted.

The portrayal of the joke in that particular strip was not effective to me. I only got it when I read the explanation. A text hint should have been included or a graphical representation of him considering posing to help differentiate between his normal expression. He could have been just looking out of his side window at the camera, which would not have been funny.

Metahumour, Matty. Don't worry about it.
The last frame is generally just his face because it's not so much the character who's self obsessed but the author. The comic is deliberately nothing more than an exercise in narcissism.
