Ham and Pineapple for me.

I've tried ham and pineapple, it's not bad - although the savoury taste of the cheese and the sweet taste of the pineapple make for an unusual combination.

Something with bits of chicken, peppers, and ideally sweetcorn for me. Ham and pineapple is good also.

That said, I can quite understand why people don't like pineapple or sweetcorn on pizza.

I'm used to Voldo.

I never use him, though, excepting when I get his discipline as Olcadan. I always manage to *** hell with him even though I barely know him. :p

Maxi, Mitsurugi and maybe Yoshimitsu and Kilik/Mina are my best characters. I also enjoy playing as Nightmare or Raphael, but I'd hesitate to call them my best characters. Contrary to popular belief, I thought Raph was MUCH better in SC2. He has some nice moves in 3, but I find him overall harder to use.

Edit: Voldo isn't a bad guy, either. He's just a really creepy guy who wants to make his dead master happy, that's all.

But at least they added Zasalamel. He's rather badass. (Though he gets annoying when you have to fight him in that damn clocktower every single storyline. :p )

Zero72
10 Apr 2006, 08:55
Yes, I was pleased with Zasalamel as well. I can take or leave Tira (although she does sometimes really annoy me), and I hate the living snot out of Setsuka, but Zasalamel is quite cool, and good for power trips when you're feeling evil.

I was also happy to see that Kilik got a good treatment this time. I never liked him at all in SC2, in terms of character. Everything about him suggested "inbred" to me. He's quite cool now. Definitely gets the Zeor Stamp of Approval.

Also, another Zeor Stamp of Approval has been removed from Talim and given to Yun-Seong. I never use him, but I gotta admit that I think he's kinda cool.

Edit: While we're talking about SC3: http://s14.invisionfree.com/SC3_CaS_Forum/index.php?showtopic=309

I think every character has at least one move that always cheaps out the AI. Kilik's 4A+B is good, and his 6A+B tends to connect with the last poke, although it's not terribly effective.

Well, that's one of the worst studies of anything that I've seen in recent memory.

It doesn't matter whether or not the study is good or not. It is a piece of evidence, unsupported as it may be. Many people need a reason to bash video games further, and this is really the evidence that they are looking for. It is a study, shoddily done and practically worthless, but it is evidence. Even the Overprotective Parents who weren't anti-videogame before can be persueded by such studies.

I imagine that if a study were made where they interviewed 5 people from prison, and tried to find _any_ common link, select people would believe it. Like, if all the people happened to have posters in their rooms, I bet a few Soccer Moms would be ripping down a few posters and forwarding a few articles.

Garry’s Mod, the Source-powered physics sandbox famed across the games industry, is to be sold over Steam for $10 US, with profits split 50/50 between Garry and his team of contributors and Valve. What is currently known as version 9.1 will lose its number and become the initial paid release, while the current version (9.04) will remain as a free demo. The sanctioned selling of full, third-party mods is new territory for the games industry, and with no sign of Black Cat’s Alien Swarm: Infested it seems that Garry’s Mod will be the first to cross the line.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... oh well.

MonkeyforaHead

What may not be mentioned there is that Garry was actually losing interest in GMod entirely, and was about ready to give up on the whole thing after this final release. Now that he's actually going to be paid for it, things are different.

Now, while I am pretty ****ed off at not being able to pay for it because of lack of a credit card, I'm quite happy that he's finally going to make some profit off of it. He freaking deserves it. :p

Well, it depends. You can get both wine and beer in quite a range of different forms, from strong stuff that hurts to stuff you'd swear had no alcohol in at all.

I think very few people like either on their first try.

FutureWorm
16 Apr 2006, 18:47
Then why keep going? Is it something like coffee, where you just get used to it after a while?

The only alcohol I've had I actually tried and wanted more of was a bit of Mike's Hard Lemonade. Most of those pre-blended cocktail drinks in bottles are decent too. However, I think that champagne tastes rather like dish soap, and beer and wine are worse yet.

By the way, MFAH, if you need to buy something online (Garry's Mod), pre-paid Visa giftcards are your friend. How'd you manage an SA account without a credit card?

Personally, first time I tried beer I'd ordered a pint and I was damned if I wasn't going to finish it. Halfway through the pint I decided I liked it.

Peer pressure is a large part of it, I think. That and almost all alcoholic drinks have something of a kick to them, so you may as well get used to it.

It's kinda like Firefox for the Mac, but it boasts better integration with the OS than Firefox. The lack of extensions is unfortunate, but it just feels like a Mac browser, unlike Firefox, which is rather unwieldy. It's a lot snappier too.

Anyone know of a hard disk cooling utility? Everytime I do something CPU-intensive, like playing a game or zipping something huge, it overheats, causes a blue screen and messes stuff up. Buying more fans or a disk cooler isn't an option.
For example, last night it damaged my disk when this happened. Though it damaged it to a point that Windows couldn't start to run CHKDSK so I had to run it from a Windows installation CD, which took all night to fix the damage.

worMatty
20 Apr 2006, 20:02
Nothing I know of. I don't think you can get anything that reduces spindle speed. Problem is if you slow down data transfer it'll just make it last longer. A hard disk enclosure or cooler is the best bet. Or you could unmount the hard disk and run it outside of the machine.

He mustn't have much RAM.512MB aren't enough? I got a 0.75GB page file, maybe if I reduce it it'll reduce disk usage?
Small point, kind of following on from what AT said...

Could it be that the heat from the CPU is overheating the hard drive? Try underclocking the CPU and see if that helps.

Any strange noises coming from the disk when it's in use (bar the usual ones)I've tried underclocking it to a piece of crap and no deal.

Nope, no weird noises. Unless you count the "halting sound" a weird sound. It only halts for a few seconds due to the heat, but sometimes it does this a lot of times in a row (eg. Summer) so the computer is either unusable or it leads to a blue screen since Windows can't get a response from the hard disk. A little trick of mine is to unplug and plug it back when it does that (I keep the case open), it kinda "refreshes" it. Though only temporarily.

This is a report from a disk monitor:
27273

I suspect I'll have to spend money to fix this, and I hate spending money.

I'd appreciate people's thoughts on this quandary:

Now I can't say for certain, but I think some people at least would like to see my cartoons available as prints. There's one dirty great snag, of course, and that is that the source files (in the case of most of them, the same thing as the final image ) simply aren't at a high enough resolution for dA to accept them.

However, I could get around this problem by creating a "compilation" deviation, which would be of a large enough resolution to have a print accepted. As an example, I could make a compilation of my four Lemmings deviations. I'm still pushing it a bit (it's quite likely that the text would be rather small), but I should be able to work something out. How would you guys feel about this?

Of course, there's still another minefield: that of copyright. Unless I sold them at cost, it would suddenly be a "profit"-making venture, and I don't know if Team 17 would give me permission to do that as they have when I've done stuff without any thought of profit. I certainly don't know if Sony would in the case of Lemmings. I suppose one could argue that it's parody and therefore fair use, but I'm no expert on copyright law and I'd obviously like to err on the side of caution. Thoughts?

Have you seen who else is in our group? That's probably reasonable odds.

Edit: well, it was until we lost all our players to injury and they announced we don't have a manager.

That Pirate Baby thing is quite awesome. I downloaded it as some 100-meg file that was extremley crisp (can't remember where I found it, though).

But I was able to download it from Google Video.

Does not. It's just mildly disturbing, is all.
Yeah, you're right. I wonder which part would be better for the kids -- the smashing babys' skulls into pulp with a baseball bat, or the giant beast with the naked ladies in its tentacles that vomit giant maggots? Edit: And hell, I managed to forget about that monster's other noteworthy trait, and I don't even think I'll say it here for those who opt not to watch the video.

I would also have mentioned the naked midwives with the babies exploding out of them, but Philby beat me to that.

Perhaps the eruption of gore from its head and every other orafice when you beat it, I'm not sure. For those of us hardened by years of use of the internet (and Metal Slug, and 4chan), it's not too horrible. It'd be a lot worse in colour.

Here's a good topic derail: I just found out, via some Polish guy in my mom's dance class, that my last name (Jasinski) apparently translates roughly to "son of John" in Polish. :p

I could have told you that.:p Do you know you're polish? Because that could also mean the same in Russian, and probably many other Slavic languages.

-in and -ov both mean "son" ('-ин' and '-ов' in the Russian alphabet [which Polish doesn't use])
-ski simply turns it into an adjective - it doesn't change the meaning. ('-ский' again in Russian)

My last name, Kentosh, is from Czech "Kentoš" which means "son of Kent". (š is pronounced "sh" in Czech)

I don't know exactly how far back my family tree goes, but I'm unaware of having any Polish or Russian roots.

It goes all the way back. Your family didn't just spontaneously appear one day out of thin air.

So... instead of actually getting technical about a problem, they explain it in really ridiculous silly terms. I'm sorry, but either Microsoft has a very very dim view of MSN users, or they just have really weird staff.

That happens a lot on another vB3.5.x forum I visit, which is having problems with its PHP accelerator, or something like that.
