It does look incredibly fun. The art style is cracking. I don't think I'd be able to run it though (I'd certainly have trouble storing it on my hard drive).

Interesting song, that Mew one.
The article, or Thompson's letter, doesn't put the in-game lawyer's comments in context with the situation. Why is Niko there? Maybe he's been hired by a games developer to remove a lawyer getting in their way? I'm sure Thompson isn't the only lawyer on the planet to oppose violent videogames.

I now live in Los Angeles.
UCLA is funny and makes you install this program before you can connect to the internet, and the program checks to make sure you have a proper antivirus. So you can't go online unless your antivirus is up to date. But then you can't update your antivirus because you can't go online. It also makes you disable your wireless card, which is dumb, because it took me a while to figure out how to disable my wireless ethernet without disabling my bluetooth mouse.

what if you have a mac
also, no wi-fi?
I don't know what happens if you have a Mac, but I assume you can make it work because enough people have them. My roommate is getting a MacBook, so I'll find out soon enough how that works out.
There's wi-fi, but for some reason I can't seem to connect to the internet anywhere. Windows reports it connected successfully, but I'm only ever connected locally and can never access the internet. They say you can't and are not allowed to access wi-fi from the rooms, which makes little to no sense, but I was actually online in the room for about 10 minutes, but then haven't been able to go online with wifi since, even in the lounges where you're supposed to be able to. I'm in the Ghetto old dorm building, so I tried this other building where I used the wifi during orientation, but the same thing. I connected but only "locally".
I also managed to connect to some random airport network like down the street or something, but I was only locally connected there too. I'm starting to think it might have to do with my computer.
SupSuper
23 Sep 2007, 05:15
Offhand, I'd say check if your computer is configured to receive wi-fi internet off others (as opposed to host or whatever), that the workgroup/domain/whatever are properly set, that it isn't picking up too many connections and confusing itself, that it's not privatizing the network, or whatever other wacky thing it tends to do. Or just keep doing Repair and hope something magical happens.

Cool. What kind of fish are you getting?
Are you going for a setup with live rock, or are you going to leave it with just fish?
I'm gonna get some live rock in there. My dad has a little tank with a bunch of live rock in it, and there's all sorts of sponges and/or anemones... anemonae? I think. And stuff. And apparently some sort of little crustacian critter in there that keeps darting out of sight whenever he turns the light on. A tank of my size would make a really killer setup. Once I get it established with the live rock and all, preferably with anemonae, I'll put some clownfish in. I like clownfish.

ANSWER: It was on Fox.
Honestly, if I made a show and Fox was where it was going to be, I would just give up right there and then.
In case you aren't aware of Fox's sucktastrophes, the timeslots for new shows can totally change from week to week, and usually they're given the worst timeslot possible. Plus, they have premieres on Sunday, and football is on Sunday, so if your show has the timeslot right after the game, you're screwed.

Seriously, it originally linked to the posters of this thread and how many posts each had... :-/
Also, the first pages of this thread are incredibly amusing.
Edit: You know, this thread is a damn good place to keep track of the happenings of my life. You know, the things that I can never remember in which year happened. :p

Yes but why does it send me specifically to the smilie list is what intrigues me. Maybe a "link doesn't work" or "invalid link" page, or redirect to the main forum or something, but the smilie list? That's quite random.
edit: Ah well apparently that's what misc.php contains. and given that the rest of the url is no longer valid, it sends you directly to misc.php.
But I'd never seen that smilie list link before, is there actually other way to access it? :p

Is that the unused laser sprite in Bonz' avatar?
It is.
And don't touch it! It's mine, only mine!
I did add the red laser beam animation though.
Also, Deadcode promised me to give a a short animated version of it, so I can make the worm burn a big black B.
Maybe if you nag him long enough, he'll give you an exclusive SOAR sprite. ;)

Google SketchUp (not "Google's Ketchup") is pretty good for 3D stuff, I think. I've been using OpenOffice.org Draw lately -- that's worked nicely and it can output to PDF as well, should you want it to. Depends what you want to do, though. I haven't done any proper technical drawing for about six years, and none of it on computer.

Photoshop can't handle it. In fact I don't understand why it's seen as such a great program because it lacks the most basic things. For example: I want to curve some text. It can't do it. It can curve and stretch one side of it, but not curve it. Even Microsoft Word can curve text.

mind the wide bar at the top, hover the buttons, one will say "wrap text" or "warp teext", im not sure. you can do a whole lot more in photoshop than you can in word when it comes to typography.

Does the name of the software not give you some clue as to what it's for? You wouldn't criticise Firefox for not being able to create MIDI files. The ability to make text appear curved is not a basic feature of a photo-editing suite. You want a drawing programme, vector-based by the sounds, like CorelDraw or something. There are free ones available but I only know of OpenOffice's one. As I recall, Serif do a pretty good one called DrawPlus, there might be an old version for free somewhere.

I was in #worms yesterday, speaking to a chap who spoke both English and German. His problem, though, was that his spelling was terrible in both. I called him out on it, and suddenly he accuses me of being a racist. Apparently I was berating him for not speaking English, which wasn't what I doing at all - I was berating him for not being able to type properly in either language. This apparently makes me racist. He then proceeded to take a page out of "Irony for Dummies" and proceeded to call English people, the English language and the British isles a slew of offensive terms in both English and German.
I told him, several times in fact, that I wasn't making fun of him for his inability to speak English. I was merely pointing out that he has all the typing skills of a blind babboon with only one working figure jabbing wildly at the computer keyboard. He didn't back down, so I started to call him a small-minded person. He then took that to mean "all Germans are small-minded", and proceeded to throw more racist remarks at me.
Lovely chap. Can't remember his name but he had all the brains of a jug of School Dinner custard.

I think Chem is one of my better lectures. Although then again I have a really cool professor who explains things really well. Math is turning out to be the horrible one, what with a professor who barely speaks English, speaks quietly and without a microphone to a class of 150+, writes both messily and small, and doesn't explain things well. He explains everything in these complicated math terms and stuff, and it makes it really confusing until you realize that everything he's saying is review and I heard it far better explained last year.

Super Paper Mario's use of the flipping mechanic was rather shallow. Rather than flip along the different "sides" of the 2D plane, it just switched from 2D to 3D. Not only that, but it was treated like a powerup. That meant they didn't have a whole lot of puzzles to choose from. It was a gimmick. (The presentation was damn good, though).
Fez, though, makes the flipping a mechanic. It's built into the game, and it's going to be AWESOME. :D

It will be for computers, both Mac & Windows, I believe.
If you mean for what reason... why not?

They're keeping it rather secretive at the moment. I've been waiting for this video for a while.
And yes, it's made by an independent company. The guy is awesome, too, so that's nice.

Fez, though, makes the flipping a mechanic. It's built into the game, and it's going to be AWESOME. :D
So did Crush (http://psp.ign.com/objects/879/879262.html). And that Escher game (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5156.html) that I think came up earlier in this thread. Not to say it's going to suck or anything, but there seems to be a recent flood of these dimension-flipping games, now three of which are going to use the mechanic to change the physical layout of the world. :p

that game used its flip damn well, I thought, and it looked about a million times less confusing than Crush, Fez or Echochrome (which looks very interesting, but I'd be wary about how many different puzzles that game can have).

No, but it does mean that other games can't pull it off as well as said game can. I mean Frets on Fire is not bad, but it's not as good as Guitar Hero (which isn't as good as Rock Band, but I'm not supposed to talk about that).

BLARG I hate American keyboards. I've tried three times to type this psot and each time I seem to accidentally hit the Tab key, or something, and when I think I'm typing, I'm not. Then I think I've made a mistake and I hit backspace and naturally the page skips back and, because I'm using Quick Reply, I lose my post. I also seem to hit enter when I go to hit the '
key. It's most infuriating. I've have a mind to buy a UK keyboard when I'm in England in November and bring it back with me.
Anyway.
As you may be aware, I'm planning on getting a Space Invader tattoo. I recently restated my plans to do so on my blog, and my "friend" Alan apparently [objects (http://www.benpaddon.co.uk/2007/10/09/because-im-a-very-sad-man/)] - see the comments there. I can't really take the guy seriously, since he's taken to giving me advice about my Love Life on [three (http://www.benpaddon.co.uk/2005/07/16/blargh/)] [separate (http://www.benpaddon.co.uk/2005/07/18/poorly-thought-out-relationship-advice/)] [occasions (url=http://www.benpaddon.co.uk/2007/08/29/a-debt-to-repay/)], when he hasn't ever had a girlfriend of his own.

Some keys on US keyboard are actually different shapes, so I effectively have to retrain myself to use some of the keys. I'm doing okay so far, but I occasionally hit Enter instead of '. The \| key is also in the wrong place - it's where the top of the Return key should be.

I take it you mean smaller as in area, because it seems that the American keyboard has an even wider enter key than the British layout, which I would take to mean it's more conveniently located because it's closer. And I can't imagine ever wanting to hit Enter on the top half.:p
Actually my Enter Key is bigger than my shift key, but that might be because I have a laptop, and a small one at that. The shift key is cut short on the right side to make room for a pair of half-sized Page Up and Down keys. Which I never noticed until you made me look at them, actually... And also my `~ key is right to the left of spacebar, as opposed to above tab where it's be on a normal keyboard. I kinda like it there actually...
I never thought I'd be arguing about keyboards.....

Heh, just found Hell of Sand (http://ishi.blog2.fc2.com/blog-entry-165.html) in my bookmarks again. That half-hour never knew what hit it.
Large return keys are a must.
Here at work we have a RT-PCR machine which was shipped with an Dell computer with a US keyboard.
Whenever I try to login there I hit the \| above the stupid, small enter key when typing my password.
Blargh!
