I'm not. I'm asking for me.

The "was he really" quip was because I though his post was to me, explaining why replying to K's post would be useless. That seemed odd to me; it didn't occur to me that he might just be posting in a general "negative event" way.

remember my best positive event ever? well, no positive event is complete without a whole batch of negative events to completely kick it off the face of the earth:
- my girlfriend's school year finished, so no more contacting me from school. so until she gets a new computer, i won't be able to talk to her for an indefinite* amount of time.
- i've been banned from my** computer for an indefinite* amount of time. and it's summer holidays. fun.
- "end of school" exams will be coming on the next week. more fun.
- insomnia attack! without computer, there's no longer anything that wears me out or puts me in a "cant wait for tomorrow!" status. so i just can't sleep. and if i do, i get the worst nightmares ever so that i prefer to not sleep. because my brain is evil like that.

*an unknown amount of time, but probably very long.
**fed up with BIOS passwords being reset, locked cases being picklocked and mouse/keyboard being replaced, they decided to just take the whole damn tower away. i can still go online through any other computer in the house, but i don't get to access all my games, tools, trilian, etc. so if anyone wants to contact me just leave something in my email.

I imagine Further Pure 1 / P4 / whatever they call it now will be easier than Physics 6 - AND I haven't revised for FP1 (which is tomorrow).

I am also dreading this exam, and I will probably be returning to this thread later (rather than +ve occurances) to talk about it.

I hope the text they give us is something to do with Einstein, seeing as this year is the centenury anniversary of his Miracle Year

I have a Dodgey Hip. This means that simple thing such as standing, walking, and sitting, are surprisingly painful. I'm going to have to see a Doctor - if my sister's spinal condition and my late Grandfather's hip problems (which first developed when he was my age) are anything to go by, my family don't have the best of luck with our bones.

Star Worms

My family doesn't go well with heart disease/HDL cholesterol. My grandmother was diabetic and died from a heart attack, my grandad who died before I was born died of something like that (I forget what) when he was 57, a few of his brothers died around that age too. My dad died of high cholesterol aged 52 and my uncle is on tablets or something because he has high cholesterol. Put that with the fact that I'm quite a pessimist, I'm expecting to die in my 50s. Also as my mum has been doing family history research she has found out that many of her ancestors died of heart disease, one as young as 32.

I'm starting to worry about being diagnosed with diabetes. I'm overweight for my height and I've been still eating chocolate, candy, and any other sugar packed stuff. Right before my father died he was diagnosed with diabetes due to his weight, and this scares me. I'll like to lead a healthy life without any problems, sure something happened in the past to me, but I'm staring to worry of getting problems to prevent me for having a healthy life.

I was worried about that too, until I was told by my Mother that she became diabetic as a result of her pregnancy with my sister (not sure how that works, I'll have to look into it) so my sister is at risk but I'm not, apparently.

Simple solution: Only eat a small amount of sweets in the weekend, no candy the rest of the week. That goes for soda too! And get some excerise! Then you'll be safe!;)

It's not uncommon for people to deal with problems using Humour. You have instead, Kjatte, opted for Blind Anger. Andrew was just trying to lighten the mood.

For example: My home is very close the Luton Train Station which, earlier this week, was very nearly blown up. That put my home at risk. But you know how I deal with the possibility of all of our personal possessions being erradicated? I laugh it off.

18 Jul 2005, 01:39
I don't think there's anything funny about personal tragedy. I think people should try and move on, after traumatic experiences but they're certainly nothing to laugh at. And believe me, I speak from experience.

And what MonkeyforaHead says is true. Laughing at your own problems is one thing, laughing at someone else's is a completely different matter. I always found it sick when I heard people at school making jokes about someone being run over by a train and such like. There's nothing funny about death (real death, I mean... not the character of the grim reaper as he's pretty funny) and people who think there is, should seek psychiatric help.

Anyway, Kjatte, I'm glad you and your family are okay. I can understand what a horrible experience you must have been through. I hope you feel better soon.

Hurricane Emily seems to be passing over my city sometime between tonight and tomorrow morning. Some 19 years ago a similar hurricane passed over and caused a lot of damage. So this time round everyone is taking a LOT of precautions. We had to put everything that we store outside, inside. And that's like, a LOT of stuff, so my house is crowded with boxes full of mouse **** -.-.
We also put some duck tape on the windows(heavy duty ducktape :p)
And tomorrow morning at 4 AM I have to go to work with my aunt, who doesn't seem to be going to close the buissness because of the hurricane (And civil protection has already suggested closing all buissness and schools as precaution)
The area I live in is usually unnafected, but you never know. I quite like this hurricane comming here mind you(I love heavy rain) but unfortunately a lot of people here get affected even with the slightest rains...

Worms 4 PC was released today, so off I went to the website of the only store in portugal which gets games when they are released in Europe, and not weeks/months later.
Unfortunately, it's marked as "Unavailable". The PS2 and XBOX versions are, too. I mailed them about what that's all about. Apparently, there is currently no stock available and they have no idea when they'll be restocked again. The keyword here being "again", which means it was stocked but it got sold out.
So, either the store had a ridiculous amount of stock (not bloody likely), or the game had a ridiculous amount of portuguese fans (again, not bloody likely, since this forum has a ridiculous amount of portuguese users, and pretty much any portuguese kid with a computer has broadband). Whichever, it's ridiculous.

So I've finally found this nice new computer I might be able to talk my mom into buying. 250 GB HD, 512 MB RAM, 2.4 GHz Athlon 64 processor, etc. Only 650 bucks (probably about $450-500 USD). Now, a deal like this floated under my nose some months back because the CPU was too "noisy" for my mom's liking. Fair enough, I guess.

So, now the sale only lasts until the 25th. Yes, 2 days from now. It was actually about the 19th or so when I heard about the sale. Now, get this -- my mom has been trying, for probably nearly a year now, to get her hands on an electric bicycle called the Suede (with the increased gas prices, among other factors, we're finally going to ditch the car, one way or the other). The shop she's been trying to get it from, the only one she CAN get it from, had been expecting a shipment of them since back in April, but, lo and behold, they suddenly get them in on the 20th. Yes, the very day after I hear about this marvelous computer sale.

But! They're sold out! So my mom e-mails them asking if they expect to get another shipment in, and still has received no response. So she's leaning towards giving up on the Suede and getting me the computer. Victory seems within my grasp. (If you haven't picked up on the general conflict here, it's that we can't afford both, as we're a little pressed for cash.)

Then, suddenly, just yesterday, one of our dogs suddenly starts acting very strange. She's had small cancerous growths for a while now that would have cost us an arm and a leg to remove, and even then the operation might have revealed more growths that simply could not be reached. So we decided to just let it be until she seemed to be in pain, and then have her put down.

Well, now the thing is, this depression or whatever the dog seems to be in just came on instantaneously and has lasted more than 24 hours, so it might not even be related to the cancer. So we're going to be arranging an appointment with the vet, which will likely wind up being on the 26th or thereabouts, and that's either going to be the last time I see this childhood pet of mine, or we're going to wind up without cash for computer or bike simply from having a series of tests run to find out what's the matter, and then we likely wouldn't even be able to do a damn thing about it, whatever it turns out to be.

...If my typing seems calm right now, let me assure you that I am not. I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown here. If I didn't know any better, I'd say my faith was being tested, but the only problem with that is I don't really have one.

If anyone needs me, I'll be curled up in the fetal position crying into my pillow for probably the next few hours.

It's sorted now anyway. I'm just annoyed that when installing things, a lot of the time it doesn't work as it says it should.

Now broadband is installed, we're getting wireless and then finally I'll be able to go on the internet on my computer:).

My mum insists on wireless for one thing, and since she's the one paying for it then it's not up to me, all I want is broadband, although wireless is a bonus.

In any case, I don't have a phone socket in my room so it would be better to get wireless so we won't have to pay to get one put in. My brother's going to uni and will need a computer and when he comes back, he's going to want the internet on his computer, but again, there's no phone socket in his room.

We have to have wireless to bridge a 35m gap between the router (in a barn - don't ask why) and the house. There are a few roofs and walls in between me and the router, and quite a lot of outside.

It would be impossible to run CAT5 from the router to the house, because it would actually take more than 100m of cable to do so. And, there are unshielded overhead powerlines (240V) where we'd want to string the cable - heavily shielded ethernet cable (and lots of if) would cost an awful lot of money. Also, we can't really dig the yard up to put the cable there, because there's too many other things running close to the surface that would get in the way, and the yard's been dug up enough already!! So, wireless was the only way to go.

Ouchy. 8 stitches? That must've been a HELL of a bang.

I, myself, have come to this thread to advertize that I have become the host for some crazy hateful bad-luck demon thingy, or so it seems.

It all started 3 weeks ago or so. For some reason, I was getting depressed a lot more about the whole 5/31/04 thing, and my inability to completely recover for it, so that was bad enough on its own even though everything else was going reasonably well. Then, the guy who had been training me -- henceforth to be called Skip -- to run our area at work -- henceforth to be called the SLS -- was suddenly out for the next 2 weeks with a bum knee. And THAT VERY FIRST DAY ALONE on the normally-two-man job, the entire SLS just completely goes absolutely to hell on a rocket-propelled handcart. I had no idea things around there could possibly go that badly, and I had half the manpower to deal with it. The next two weeks are mostly more of the same. I had about 2 or 3 good days out of the two weeks at the absolute most. I am put very much through the wringer, which does very little to compliment my already-floundering mental health. I consistently go home with a sore throat and a headache and reach the point where I seriously fear a complete nervous breakdown. Ok, 2 weeks are up finally and my head's still attached, so that's good, I can relax over the weekend and Skip will be back on Monday and everything will be back to normal and at least I kept everything running alright and OH LOOK MY HARD DRIVE COMPLETELY AND PERMANENTLY CROAKED AND I HAVEN'T MADE A BACKUP IN MONTHS BETTER GO SPEND 100 BUCKS ON A NEW ONE THEN LOL. Ok, got that installed, fine. Later I'll take the dead hard drive to a computer shop to see if they can recover all of my important stuff. Ok, it's Monday, I have to go back to work, aw crap. Oh well, Skip's here. And it looks like it's even gonna be an easy day here at the SLS, which is good, and HEY ZERO WHY DON'T WE SEND YOU OVER TO THE OTHER ROOM SO YOU CAN THROW AROUND THESE 30-POUND BOXES OF CRACKERS ALL DAY INSTEAD oh gee thanks fine swell whatever I'll do that and live, theoretically. Ok, next day, hopefully they won't OOP THEY TOOK SKIP INSTEAD LOOK YOU'RE ALONE AT THE SLS AGAIN!!1!1!1111 Ah well, I guess the day isn't going that badly, and OH WE'RE KEEPING HIM ALL THIS WEEK AND NEXT TOO great. Awesome. Ok, heading into work the next day with a brave face on, actually got up at a decent hour and am feeling reasonably good and OH WOW I BLEW MY OTHER BRAKE LINE IN MY FREAKING CAR AND MY BRAKE PEDAL HAS GONE TO THE FLOOR ON THE WAY INTO THE DRIVEWAY AWESOME. I still have some brake, but that line's shot and I'm leaking fluid everywhere and my car is really not safe to drive so I better get a ride. Oh whee, guess what I get to do on Saturday. Everybody loves rolling around on a cold cement floor and getting neck cramps while trying to replace a busted brake line! And everybody loves spending money on his car! Oh yes! Well, ok, next day, my mom gets home in time to let me borrow her car, okay that's good, at least I can get to what the hell am I saying? Oh well. Wow, today's running really smoothly. I haven't had any major probHEY ZERO GUESS WHAT?! FRIDAY, WHICH IS SUPPOSED TO BE PART OF YOUR WEEKEND, IS NOW A MANDANTORY WORK DAY, BECAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVEN'T BUSTED YOUR BALLS ENOUGH LATELY! Ok, Zero. Don't kill anything. That would be a bad thing to have on your record, killing a coworker and all. Especially unprovoked.

EB also lacks any of the games I want to buy that they're supposed to have, which is less important than a broken brake line but still crummy luck.

Ok, I just needed that out of my system.

That happened to me on the same day, curiously enough.

I didn't need stitches, though. Last time it happenned (way back in '96 or so) I had my head glued back together.

Edit: Reading that back, it could be interpreted that they used some kind of radioactive hyperglue that geve my head X-Men style regenerative powers. They didn't. It was regular medical PVA glue, and it stung like buggerry.

Edit 2: I do not know how much buggerry in fact stings.

I'm hoping it's mendable. The long and the short of it is that there are aspects of our relationship I'm not happy with and that I want to work together with Amy to change for the better. I was just in a play called "The Gifted Program" The play was a success.

But Katie wasn't able to go. And, well, she was the reason I did the play. I did it because I knew it would make her happy. (and it did) And she, the one who got me to do the play, the one I wanted to have see it above all other people combined...was unable to go.

It wasn't her fault, no, but it's still sad. She came to the place before the play though and told me she couldn't make it and wished me luck and hugged me, which was nice of her. But hey, there's a reason I love her.

**A post in NE&O that doesn't involve girls, or "love" relationships in any way**

I'm currently at University, and am living in a block in halls of residence on campus. There are 14 people on my floor (including me) - all male. I am not the type of person who likes to go out to clubs and return totally hammered, and I like to go to bed quite early (about midnight - i have to wake up before 8am to get to breakfast, as I'm in catered halls and most days, I have 9am lectures)

A small group (4 or 5) of people on the floor take great pleasure in going out, getting hammered and then returning at 1 - 2am and intentionally waking me up with loud singing, shouting, screaming, running up and down the corridor, etc, etc. This annoys me greatly, as it wakes me up (obviously) and I then find it hard to get back to sleep, since they usually carry on for at least half an hour, by which time, I'm fully awake. I'm not the only one in this position - it annoys other "early sleepers" on my floor.

Recently, they've taken to targeting me directly, including obstructing my doorway with large plastic crates (4ft by 3ft rectangular thingies). I woke up one morning to find a crate tied to my automatic door closer thing, so when I opened the door, it swung towards me. I have warned them many times about this behaviour - if it continues I said I would either call security or inform the warden/subwardens of their behaviour.

Anyway, two nights ago, things came to a head.

The four came back at about 1:15am after another heavy drinking session. They came equipped with many plastic crates and loud, screaming voices, thus waking me up. One of the subwardens saw them bring the crates back and removed the crates that he saw, and told them not to mess about with crates since piling them up in the corridor is a health and safety issue. He removed four of them. After he left, they continued to shout and scream and wake everyone up. One person down the end of the corridor got very, very angry with them and shouted at them, which seemed to shut them up. About an hour later, I finally went to sleep......

On waking up, I found that four crates had been stacked outside my door, totally blocking it (I could still open the door). It was quite awkward to remove them, and they obviously posed a fire risk - I did not have easy exit from my room, and once I'd moved the crates, the corridor would have been blocked. After breakfast, I informed the subwarden that the crates he saw the people take had been used to block my door. He said that he had removed four crates, and he assumed that they had then returned to get more, thus ignoring him. I didn't know any different, so I accepted this. It turned out that they had initially brought 8 crates back with them, and he hadn't noticed the four stacked against my door. He realised that this was a breach of fire safety regs, and said that the group would be fined. When he came into the block during the night, he told them he wanted to see them the following day.

I thought the fine would just be a small "slap on the wrist" type fine...

It turns out that they have been fined £75 each.

And, what's worse, they are making it very apparent to me that I am responsible for it. Yet, I'm just the victim in all this. All I did was inform the subwarden that the crates got piled up against my door.

At lunchtime today, they also had a meeting with the warden. I don't know what happened, but none of them seem willing to talk about it, or even talk to me. Not much change from last night, so I can't tell if it was a good meeting or a bad meeting...

**SUMMARY**

So, my "negative event" is:

I now have four people who are doing an incredibly good job of making me feel responsible for relieving them of a total of £300 between them.

I can't explain my side of things to them, because none of them want to talk to me - about anything.

There is now quite a negative atmosphere in the hall, especially since the five of us all live at the same end of the corridor. I've got a couple of supporters, but most people are staying well clear.

I'm not sure what to do - I can't talk to them to apologise for being a victim, and why should I apologise - they were the ones who were drunk and have been waking me up many times and they were the ones who stacked crates up in front of my door, after being made aware of the fire risks.

I had told them that if any more interruptions to my sleep happened, I would be informing either security or the wardens, so it's not like they didn't know it was coming.

How can I get things back to the way they were, with everyone getting along with each other??

On the plus side, I got a good night's sleep tonight, and overslept by an hour :D Just got down to breakfast in time to get off to my lectures.

Unless you are a character in a sitcom, you can't. If you could, there wouldn't be a half-a-trillion-dollar-a-year divorce industry in America.

If you're lucky, they'll eventually start talking again, so you should try and remain approachable. If they talk to you about the... fine incident, then your best bet is probably to take the "What Else Was I Supposed To Do?" line -- it implies you don't feel good about it without implying that in retrospect it was a mistake or that you wouldn't do it again if they keep up the pranks.

I'm kind of hoping the fine has to be paid sooner rather than later, so as once it's paid (and, perhaps, the next student loan comes through), it's all forgotten about.

Mind you, Christmas is around the corner, so a couple of weeks away from each other would probably do some good :) I'm also going back home this weekend ('tis my birthday, and was arranged before this kicked off), so it might give them a bit of breathing space...

Well, things up here have gone from bad to absolutely awful.

The warden has come down ridiculously hard on these four lads, basically saying if they do anything else bad again, they're out of halls and will have a £200 fine.

So, I'm now being held personally responsible for ruining these four people's university life, since they won't be able to go out and do anything stupid.

Great.

I'm now beginning to wish that I'd never spoken to the subwarden in the first place. But, if I hadn't, what would have been their enxt step? Setting fire extinguishers off under my door, then using them to barricade my door?

Yesterday I went to a restaurant with a group of friends. We were celebrating 3 out of the 8 people who had birthdays. While we were waiting for our food, my friend Vito tells me to talk. Now, about me is I'm not really talkative in real life, maybe if it was 1 or 2 other people around that would be okay. This is a group here, also keep in mind I did not get any sleep that previous night and was tired from shoveling my driveway. So when he told me this, I felt embarrassed, told everyone I had to go to the washroom. I've started to cry a bit, due to what has happened, I'm an emotional guy so yeah I wanted to just go home via taxi. When I came back to the table, he asked me if he embarrassed me and I told him yeah. He apologized, but I felt bit sad due to what happened. The rest of the night went fine, 4 people and other 4 went to see two separate movies(things were better, I kept on harassing in a joke way my friend brian's girlfriend). What has happened was I took what he has said the wrong way which caused me to become sad and overwhelmed. Was just glad that the day was over, though.

What bothers me about friday is,

I've come to attend the party not to be pressured, picked on, and laughed at, came to have a good time but obviously it wasn't. I like these people but they annoy me when forcing me to talk and such. One time I was going to meet some girl of my friends and she told her "The thing with Ev is, you have to force him to talk" the hell? (I said to myself when she told me this on the phone) I'll talk whenever I damn well please. Sorry to seem like an ass, but I'm just not really that much talkative. I'm more of a ask questions kind of guy towards others than a conversationalist.

Another thing about me is, people I've known and don't know have said I'm funny, what makes me funny? my comedic facial expressions, hey least I'm funny, right? :P

One funny short chat I had with some girl went like this,

Her: *speaking of herself for a bit*
Me: "Yeah" *kept nodding my head*
Her: "Well? you going to add in something?"
Me: *started to think for a bit* "so uh, you brush your teeth?" (mind you I accidently said this)
Her: *looked at me oddly* *cracked up*
Me: *felt embarrassed* *walked away slowly*

So yeah, things like that (funny chats) make me feel better and it kind of cancels out the negative of myself.

I'm confused now. She obviously knew how I felt. (I.E. she told me she was sorry for not telling me that she got a boyfriend) And yet she had continued to lead me on. She's not the kind to play mean games with peoples' hearts, so why did she lead me on if she didn't feel the same way about me?

Luckily I've been able to discuss this with Katie's best friend. I need to ask her this aforementioned question; she would know. If Katie ever felt something for me, her friend could tell me.

My best guess is that she was as confused then as you are now. If that's the case, then she was simply trying not to close any doors she might want to go through later -- it was selfish not telling you up front, but I've learned the hard way that if you're not selfish in these things then you will get trampled all over and very possibly end up alone. Of course, that may be all wrong; what do I know? I've never met either of you.

You'll get over her, though. That much I do know.

Thank you Andrew.

I don't think she meant to tell me, actually. I was just there, and she happened to mention him amongst some of her friends, and I heard. Maybe she was trying to let me know without having to tell me? I don't think so, because after that she took me aside and told me and apologized for not telling me earlier. I'd have thought she'd have just done that instead if she'd intended to say something. And then she went and hugged me. (which was painful - a reminder of what could have been, but never will be)

And so if that's right and she didn't mean to tell me, does that mean that she was still trying to keep my "door" open? And she accidentally closed it by mentioning him, and tried to keep it as open as possible by apologizing? I don't know, but what I do know is that my door is still, and will be for a long time, open to her and I'd be perfectly willing to forgive her for breaking my heart.
Personally, I'd update you on my situation, but as there is no "Decidedly Ambiguous Events & Occurences" thread I can't.Well, I wish you the best.

My mood has been seriously dropping lately. Reasons:

1. Contact with my girlfriend is on a very thin line. Currently the only way she can contact is when she gets the chance to use one of the computers at school during breaks. And they pratically block everything, though luckily they don't block a forum we're both signed up on. BUT, school ends this week (for both of us), so that won't last long :(

2. My test grades are really, really crappy. I keep my working my ass of and it simply doesn't pay off. No idea what my dad's gonna do to me when he finds out. I doubt he'll just keep me banned from my computer, but worse... *shivers*

3. As if my grades weren't bad enough. Today me and other students had to present a home-made "battery" for Chemistry class. We had one week to do it. Whenever I talked to the other group members, they said to just get some stuff and they'd take care of the rest, not to worry... today, none of them came to school. I ended up with a big fat zero, doing absolutely nothing for 90 minutes besides watching the others work on their batteries

Ooh, first post in this thread for 2006 :D I feel special...

Just had (well, at 9 - 11am this morning) the worst exam I've ever done in my life, and that's saying something when you consider that I got 33% for P3 on my first attempt and 41% and 43% for P4 and D1 respectively (Maths units for those who don't know).

This exam was a 'Mechanics of Materials' exam and is the second exam I've done at university - the first didn't go all that well either. Basically, this exam was nothing like any of the past papers (all of which have had more or less the same questions in them) and the questions were worded in a ridiculously vague way that made it impossible to tell which one of five potential answers were correct.

Plus, there was one question that seemed to consist of a wide variety of numbers and letters randomly thrown on a page with a totally useless hint at the bottom.

Despite the fact that this exam is only worth 70% of the module (the other 30% being coursework and a mid-semester test in which I got 67% - don't know the coursework marks yet), things aren't looking good :(

I can resit failed modules in September, but I don't want that kind of hassle

Got back, and the sodding internet on my computer won't work. It works on this computer so it's obviously a problem with my USB wireless internet thingymagiggy. I seem to remember I had trouble setting it up too and had to phone the helpline because it wouldn't work.

I wish someday someone out there will invent something computer related WHICH ACTUALLY WORKS! So here's me extremely frustrated as I have Biology coursework and maths homework due in tomorrow, which certainly won't be done. I feel like phoning BT and screaming down their phoneline for several hours. I'm fed up with so many things I get for the computer which take ages to get working. The TV thing I got for my computer took several months because the CD which was with the product didn't contain all the files.

Why can't everything just be simple to set up? And I really can't understand how going away for a week can stop it from working.

I never had the confidence (and still don't really...) to go very far with girls at school. I had crushes on a few of the girls in my year, but never had the confidence to ask them out or anything.

So, here I am, at uni, 19 years old and have had so many girlfriends you don't need any fingers to count them on :D And, I stupidly chose a uni with a 5:1 boy:girl ratio, and a course with a 10:1 boy:girl ratio.

But, then again, I'm an engineer, and if you've ever read a Dilbert sketch, stereotypical engineers aren't exactly good at getting girls :) As proved by these two "jokes" below:
Two engineering students were walking across a university campus when one said, " Where did you get such a great bike?"

The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike, threw it to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."

The first engineer nodded approvingly and said, "Good choice; the
clothes probably wouldn't have fitted you anyway"
An engineer was crossing a road one day, when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess."

He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.

The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me I'll turn back into a beautiful princess and stay with you for one week."

The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.

The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you for one week and do ANYTHING you want."

Again, the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, and that I'll stay with you for one week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?"

The engineer said, "Look, I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool."

Don't worry, Star Worms, I'm sure you'll find the perfect girl soon - I sure hope I do

Wow. Exact same thing, exact same time.

Katie broke up with her boyfriend a while ago.

Now she's with my good friend, John.

It's been 92 days since she broke my heart with Aaron. I've been counting. Every single day. I just don't know what to do, and I'm definately NOT over her to ANY degree WHATSOEVER.

Well they've been going out for a few months now but they've really been bugging me lately as they are acting far more sexually towards eachother than before. I'm just hoping their relationship blows over soon.

Girls really weren't made for us computery folks, apparently...You obviously never met my girlfriend.

Well, neither have I, but that's besides the point :p

Most girls weren't, no, but there are some out there who think rationally. Most of the time, anyway.

I know, I was as shocked as you. But I promise they do exist.

I wonder if I could get K^2 to clone mine.

The geekier you act, the more she clinges to you. It's so... unorthodox.

Beyond unorthodox. I'd say more to the extent of reality-defying.

I think I was very fortunate in that Amy is just as geeky as I am. She loves videogames, and books, and she loves Sci-Fi and Comedy (and both!) just as much as I do.

I think the main difference is that geeky girls are less overt about it. They can still function in normal society. This makes them difficult to identify, which is a problem, but if they stayed in their rooms all the time like so many male geeks do we'd never find them.

Here's something really bizarre to keep the negative events thread interesting -- I desperately need to use the restroom, but the only way to it is through my dad's room, and I really hate to disturb sleeping people. It's actually a sort of tough decision for me.

...Or it was for a while. Nature wins. *zoink*

Edit: Seems he was sleeping pretty soundly, and I feel four pounds lighter. Happy ending!

Why did I choose to share this, you ask? Probably because I'm trying to show that I try to be considerate of others, in an attempt to reassure myself of my own worth. Yay!
