Okay, I'm fed up with all these individual threads about good things that have happened to people and bad things that have happened to people. It makes more sense to have two threads dedicated to anything that has happened (Pets, computer trouble, whatever) rather than filling the forum up with them. So, this thread is for anything bad that happens to you. Consequently, all discussion of everyday things that you feel negative about should be discussed here.

Same old mental and emotional problems from the same old event, off and on... on more than usual as of late for some reason.

Lots of places to put money, not enough money to put everywhere.

Starting to seriously doubt that I'll be able to make it to the OD get-together, despite how much I would love to be there.

More serious computer malfunctions than usual.

Just discovered that PayPal won't let me make any purchases without a credit card, even though I just spent about 3 weeks following the f**king procedures that apparently WOULD let me buy without one.

Start of a new school year. :p

Oh yes, and my only pair of headphones broke, and simultaneously the regular computer speakers decided to stop functioning...

If you read the fine print on PayPal where it asks for your credit/debit card number, it turns out that only debit cards with the Visa/Mastercard/American Express/etc. logo on them are accepted... which means I'm out. :(

ok, this is very off topic, sorry but I don't want to create a new thread for it.

Yesterday my mum went into the supermarket having taken me round Cribbs Causeway looking for new bed linen since my room is being done. She hadn't given me the keys to sit in the car so I waited outside (since if I went looking, she'd probably exit the shop when i didn't notice). While I was standing by the exit a man gave his daughter his credit card, she looked 10/11/12 and asked her to go and buy him some cigarettes.

I had another lousy day of work.I was pulled aside and warned that if my perfomance doesn't drastically improve within the next couple of days, I won't have a job by the end of the week. When I left work in the pouring rain, my car battery was dead because I had left my headlights on. An hour later, I got the car jump-started and came home. I turned the car on again after a while to let the battery charge a little more, and I forgot to turn it off for an hour and burned half a tank of gas. And so here I sit, slightly damp, quite nervous about the likelihood of keeping my job, and very dejected.

Power went out in the half of my house. The important half. The one with the computer and the bathroom. Anyways, I got a chain of Christmass lights to work as an extention cord from the other part of the house so that I can finish my AI assignment and make a few useless posts on the forums. The glow of the Christmass lights chears me up a bit, so it isn't all that bad.

Edit: This is just getting more and more interesting. I tried connecting the stereo center, and that knocked out the fuses in the Christmass lights. Fortunatly, I was able to find a replacement. At least, now I know that PC+Stereo Syste > 3 Amps.

I've already applied for a job at NTL in their Credit Control Department, which means if you fail to pay your NTL bill I might end up giving you a call. If I get the job I also get free digital cable, too. Sweet.

Buddy, I had to leave a workplace due to it being crap. Immature/annoying employees who treat me bad (I'm used to being treated bad so much I'm immune now to it.) IMO being home playing online games and chatting on msn messenger is by far friendlier to me than being out in a workplace. I'll probably get a job at home selling my used Music CD's though Amazon.ca/Ebay. Yes being at home or out with friends and not having a job made me happy, but it would be nice to have money though and to help/support my family with their bills.

On another note, one negative event happen at the fair yesterday, you see my friend got harassed by some immature idiotic girl who in the end made him upset and mad. Oh and someone lost a wallet.

This is not so much an event but it hurts me (cry sometimes over the emotion of not being able to see them), thus being a negative though.

You see, I miss two certain and good friends of mine, no they did not pass away. But rather I've not seen them in a while.

First off is a beautiful lass named Kristen Bell, we met each other back at Brother Andre (my High School) back in 11th grade cooking class, now her being pretty was a bit nervous of speaking to her, thinking a pretty girl like her would ever or actually speak to me. So one day in cooking class we got our yearbooks and I really wanted her to sign mine so gathering up courage and confidence I go to her "Kristen" "Yeah?" "Want to sign my book?" (I was scared of her rejecting me of saying no) but to my surprised she let out a "Sure" when I got the book back I read the enclosed signing "Hey Buddy, hope you are having a good time in this class, I'll speak with you more soon, later" next is what not only shocked but astonish me "Love, Kristen" I really felt warm and happy that day. So as the months turned to weeks we did not really speak to each other much, because me and her fell in with different crowds, you see she was part of the popular group while I was with the freaks and geeks. But having to add her on MSN Messenger there was one time where I ACTUALLY got the chance to finally speak with her, what a great day that was. But now she comes on so rarely I'm feeling sad about this, she truly is a great and nice girl, and hopefully we will speak again soon.

Lovely woman number 2. I was working for a retailed department at my local mall. First time I met this woman was when she came back to the store, she looked like someone whom I would hang out with in High School (a pretty lady) she me and her agreed to have lunch together on break. I thought she was in High School to me she looked around and about 20 or so but was actually 36! I was surprised that a woman of her age was so pretty and...I'll admit have a gorgeous body as well. And as usual I liked her, she had a great personality and such a pretty appearance, but found out she is married and has kids that did not stop me from being friends with her though. One time a fellow employee was telling me of how her husband is somewhat a controller, now you lot know me of being a hero/brave and noble, I wanted to do something about this and help and protect her but there was nothing I can do. Couple of weeks I finally ran into her at the retail shop, not exactly ran into her but noticed her, she gave me a hug and a warm welcome back (I quit the job) I honestly love her so much...in a good friend way, I'm hoping of us two getting a picture together. Her name is Najot which I found unique and interesting but I RESPECT fellow friends names whatever it may be.

I'm going to the mall, to the store where Najot works and hopefully I'll see her again.

This concludes my tale of my two pretty yet good personality girl/woman friends, I needed the story to be let out.

The last month has been one of the best months for me in the past...long long time, except that i'm getting a god damn C in chemistry cause my lazy ass decided not to do his homework for a while. but i can't complain cause it's completely my fault. ;) In fact, i don't even know why i'm complaining, 'cause it doesn't even bother me. Oh well. :p

I can't really think of any other bad things.

Oh yeah. i got a haircut (my second one since last christmas) and now i sorta look like a goof, but my girlfriend likes it, so it's all good. :D

Damn. I'm probably cheering this thread up way too much. I gotta think of something bad.

Oh yeah...my grandpa. He's got alzeimer's. He barely even remembers who my mom is sometimes. she has to tell him. It's making her and her sisters pretty depressed

I hate this time of the year:

Halloween and Bonfire Night. It's probably a bit late to complain now but who cares?...

On Halloween morons come round your house asking for food. Why can't they just bugger off and leave us alone? I thought children are taught not to talk to strangers, let alone go round to their house asking for food.

Secondly - Bonfire Night. What a crap excuse for a celebration. A foiled attempt to kill the king. People only celebrate it so they have an excuse to set off explosives. I wouldn't mind if it was just for one day but it's for several weeks now. People set them off weeks before and weeks after, and at night too. Someone should just ban fireworks in back gardens alltogether. All it does is cause trouble.

Anyway that's my rant over:p

In a similar story of pure stupidity, a friend of mine once tried to chat up a friend of my girlfriends. He asked her out and she said, "I'm sorry, I'm a Lesbian" - which was true. He then responded, "That's okay, I'm bisexual" - which may not be true,w e've not figured that out yet. Suffice to say if he was stupid enough to think that he could go out with a lesbian on the grounds that he's bisexual so it must be okay, then he shouldn't be allowed to breed.

And that's why every girl he's asked out since has become a Lesbian. True story.

No, it makes sence. After the operation he is now a she, and that is why AT couldn't take her seriously after that.

i am going insanely depressed! basically, i don't feel like doing anything, i don't know why i give a damn about anything, and as far as i care, i would just lie down and die. but of course i won't, i'm too much of a wuss to do anything to kill myself.
the thing is, i can't come up with a reason why i'm so hugely depressed. actually, i can come up with a million reasons, but they never effected me before. so why now? why the hell am i like this?!? everyone tells me it's just a phase, but if i keep being bummed out like this, i'm completely f***ed up. it's effecting my studies, my fun, my life!
basically, it's like everything is absolutely and completely boring. always doing the same things. always going to school, studying, playing games, eating, sleeping, etc. it's an endless spiral of boredom. hell, not even playing games makes me go all YAY anymore. nothing excites me. it's like overnight, all my happiness and fun is being taken away, disappearing, just like that. and more and more, i'm being like a zombie. i'm ending up with nothing.
and every single fantasy thing (comic strips, cartoons, movies, games, etc.) seems more and more MUCH BETTER than reality, and that reality is simply more and more something so insanely monotonous(sp?) that i just can't put it with it.
that's probably why i sleep a whole lot on weekends. because in dreams, fantasy come true. and that seems to be the only time i'm happy lately. as soon as i wake up, ZING, i'm depressed like hell.
it's like there's simply something missing in my life. i mean, i never, ever, was like this. hell, i couldn't ever write this much about me, i mean, it's starting to sound like some lame LiveJournal or something. and to top it all, this is only happening in 2004. Actualy, reality as you observe it is a direct result of the functions of your own mind, so in a way, it is almost like you create your own reality. It isn't exactly the same as it all being just in your head, but it is close.

When depressed, if you know why you are, try to change these things. If you don't, just try to focus on thigs that are of more interest to you. Not much else that you can do.

yes i have felt lonely many times, even with friends and all. problem is, usually you grow fond of people similiar to you in tastes and such. and... well, i doubt i'll find a girl similiar to me. specially in this country. i mean, a girl gamer (or even more doubtful, a girl that doesn't like RPGs!), in Portugal... nope i seriously doubt it. specially seeing the girls in my school, they're the sort of "OH MY GOD LOOK AT THAT REALLY CUTE GUY EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE". you know, lots of annoying screaming and running and such. bleh.

I've been a little bit depressed and angsty (yes, I know, a very rare thing from me) lately when I suddenly realised that at heart I've always been an all-rounder, and that all these layers of specialisation (first into the sciences, then the physical sciences, then maths) have stifled me a bit. Don't get me wrong, I still love maths and science... but I've also remembered recently that I used to love to do almost everything else as well. A few choices here and there, and I could have been specialising in anything from chemistry to history to writing to drama. I'm a bit worried at heart that all this may be the root of why I'm not doing so well at University, because maybe at heart I'm one of those people who's really a jack of all trades and a master of none.

*addressing SupSuper*

The only thing I can really recommend is that you try something different, something you don't normally do. Make an effort to do something or learn something new. I can really give specifics, because I don't really know everything you do already but for example:

Learn a sport (If you aren't in great shape, try and find one that isn't too physically demanding, such as Golf, Table Tennis or Cricket). Even if you're no good, it'll take your mind off things. Best of all is if you can find an analogue of Churchill College's Random Sports society, where we just play silly games with no keeping score and no competition (my demon Rounders pitching aside).

Look at a subject in which you aren't doing so well, and try and better yourself at it - see if you can get a grip on what's really going on. Or try and find two subjects that appear unrelated, but that you can find links between (I really loved it at comp. when we were doing Animal Farm in Eng. Lit. and the Russian Revolution in History - so many parallels).

Tradition demands a third example, but I can't really find one except the one that's already been stated about girlfriends.

If you only talk about things that you're interested in, and not pay attention to anything else, then yes, of course. Just try to pay more attention to what people are telling you. Even if you aren't particularly interested in it, try to see it from their perspective. That way you can easily carry on a good conversation even with someone very different from yourself. And if you can just sit and chat with someone for extended periods of time, you are allready half way there.

You remember I mentioned my friend the apiring lesbian? (For reference, she is without doubt the worst lesbian ever. Doesn't seem to have quite got the hang of it.) She is almost exactly the opposite of me. She's the kind of person you'd describe as "bubbly" had the word not been hijacked and bent until it meant "fat and irritating and impossible to shake off" (I seem to recall mentioning her as well).

I've often found that people I'm attracted to aren't like me. Frankly, few girls are (particularly since Daria is only a cartoon). But it does help if they have similar interests, as it gives you a good place to start talking from. If not, then discuss your respective opinions of popular cinematic experience Breakfast At Tiffany's and once the ice is broken you might be able to develop a common interest by introducing each other to new things until one of them sticks. If not, then good luck; it may still work. But I find having someone different than you with similar interests is good because you get a proper discussion about stuff, with different opinions in it. But then, different opinions lead to fights, so...

I give up. People are a problem.

Now that is a scarry thought.now you're finding out the magnitude of my problem :p
I have too many. You can have some of mine if you like.i already have a friend which seems to know half of the school's girl population (well at least the sane part of the school's girl population).

the main factor for me not having a friend girl (not the same as a 'girlfriend') is that 90% of the girls i've known (were in my class) were really annoying and mad girls which i didn't even want to be in the same room as them.
the other 10% were already taken :p
the other factor is, i hardly talk to girls. i simply can't find something to talk about with them. i never had a friend that was a girl (not the same as a 'girlfriend').
when i had girls in my class, i said "hi", "how are you doing?", you know, the typical. not much else to talk about.

ok, enough about girls. i had another negative events to report, hadn't i? yes i did. basically, it's school. this year (which i blame it sucking because it started in 2004) is being hell. why? because, for no apparent reason, i'm getting lousy grades in my tests. and since this is my last year of school and in the end of it i've got exams and stuff, it's REALLY gonna count. and if i understand the stuff, and study lots and such just like for all other school years, why are my grades SUCKING SO BAD?!?
to make matters weirder, i'm only getting bad grades on subjects i'm usually very good at. the subjects i suck at, i'm becoming good at them. so it's all twisted around. I'M DOING GOOD IN P.E!!! P.E. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

oh, and to show you how serious my grades are being, um... here's the ones from my latest tests (grades go from 0 to 20):
Physics: 4.0
Chemistry: 9.6
Maths: 7.0
Portuguese: 8.4 (ok, this one i usually suck at. still, not this much. but still, it's poetry poetry poetry this year, so that explains it).
Electronics*: 15
Drawing**: 18

*well this year we're learning Electronics. the subject is, translated literally, Lab Techniques of Physics. basically, it's like Physics except that you spend 90% actually experimenting what you learn in labs, instead of just learning the theory and doing exercises like in regular Physics.
**don't know how to translate it. it's got perspectives and crap like that. translated literally would give you Drawing and Descriptive Geometry

the main factor for me not having a friend girl (not the same as a 'girlfriend') is that 90% of the girls i've known (were in my class) were really annoying and mad girls which i didn't even want to be in the same room as them.
Well, yeah, you probably don't want any of mine, then.

Oh, remember my first post on this forum? Well I did something similar on the internal staff forum at work complaining about an aspect of my job that I did not enjoy. That was in the morning. By 3pm in the afternoon I was in front of two team leaders and the two people who trained me, being told that my jbo was in jeopardy. Which, I've been assured since by my Team Leader, it isn't. But I've learnt my lesson.

- i completed sucked at my 2nd Maths test. me and probably 90% of the class. i tell you that teacher dispises us.
- P.E. was interesting. playing soccer and rugby outside, in a muddy field, wearing t-shirt and the temperature was freezing, and of course and the ocasional rain.
- my parents keep ****ing me off. it seems they actually want me to become agressive and curse at them or something. seriously, sometimes i just want my mom to STFU!
- i finally found a flash tutorial website (http://www.cartoonsmart.com) which seemed perfect for me. it had everything i wanted to learn. and theeeeen... i found out i needed a credit card number. ho-hum.

oh, it seems my body's self-heating system is busted. so i'm freezing... *dies*

What's bothering you buddy?

What I've told you on MSN Messenger

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Forumers of the T17 board

I'm having a bit of a dilemma and I'm in big trouble

You see...

Me and three buddies planned a Christmas get-together on the 10th, and we were all excited to see each other, see what we got each other and basically have a good time. On the night of my leave, my depression took over enabling me to attend. I told one of my buds who was attending I had to be excused due to my "illness" and said all right, told him sorry to disappoint you three but will be going to the Dec 17th one. And now it being Saturday, been scared to go on MSN Messenger to talk with them let alone explain my depression, so to the girl bud that planned and organized this I wrote this email:

I'm truly sorry I was not able to attend the Christmas get-together
The illness I had, was depression I just did not want you three to see
The condition I was in, know I let you three down and feel like such a
******* for not being able to go
To make it up to you, I'm bringing something in which everyone
Can enjoy, just a way to make it up to you three
You must be mad/upset at me it's understandable
I'll definitely go to the 17th one though, don't worry
Hopefully you three don't hate me too much

It's 8:44PM and not an email from both the girls I've sent duplicate emails to. This situation has gotten to me and can't forget it, I really messed up.

well what can i say... there's nothing better to start holidays than windows breaking for the Nth time.
basically, it commited suicide. it forced me to install SP2 and, as usual, gave me an error in the middle since one of the files was in use. then it tried to undo its changes but that gave an error too so it left windows half-upgraded which, needless to say, broke it :p

and as it seems, my custom Windows XP SP2 cd no longer has the "repair" option (it can't even remove other installation), so now i'm stuck using a NEW windows installation while there's ANOTHER windows installation broke in the computer. also, this new installation doesn't like ATI's drivers, says they're incompatible, so i'm stuck at 640x480 16 color. ugly way to see things let me tell you.

so basically, i've had it! i'm switching to Linux and leaving a working Windows installation for whatever doesn't work with it. like games. and that's that, i've permanently had it!

Reminds me of how Amazon.co.uk wouldn't ship Worms 3D to the States.

Same thing I believe - Amazon.co.jp don't ship:

toys & hobbies
software
games
game consoles
electronics
home & kitchen items
adult products

Outside of Japan. Which is doom, as at some point I'm intending to get a Japanese PS2 and quite a few Japanese PS2 games. So I need to find someone trustworthy that lives in Japan. Hmm. Maybe Tetsuo will know someone... *will ask him*

Damned Amazon. Would it really do them that much harm?

I better friggin' have the 26th off.
Dunno exactly where Zeor's been over the past day and a half (and I'm not about to pry, since it is just winding down from Christmas), but I talked to him briefly before he vanished and yeah, he got today off... because he was laid off.
