Trip to the theme park was today. It was kind of a let down because a lot of them couldnt make it up there.:( However I did meet this one female actor named Rainen. She was alot of fun to hang out with. Along with the model Ian...bleh I forget, but we all just called her the Diva. She's quite...a hoot. Her Australlian accent was cute. But even though it was a smaller group than expected, we all had fun and went on all of the rides there. But now I am sunburnt and I feel sick from breathing in peoples B.O. all day.

Ouch! How fast were you going? I know someone who did slightly less damage to their Metro (not much though - bonnet was bent by more or less the same amount) in a 20mph collision (hit stationary vehicle)

Probably 30-40mph. I'd tell you about it but:

I've just realised - why is this in +ve events?

It was in reply to the driving banter :) I crashed over a year ago, now.

I crashed my beautiful MG Metro, 1.3, built in Abingdon, all because of a wrong turning. :( :(

http://vader.wurmz.net/images/misc/metrocrunch.jpg...worse than mine:p I wrote off my mum's car a month after passing my test. A friend beat that record by saving up around £2000 to get a really decent car and then rolled into a ditch the day after. Then not long after, with a new car, he was caught speeding 3 times in one day and had his licence revoked...

To be honest though, we got a better deal out of writing the car anyway. It was probably only worth about £1300 and we got shot of it for £2000 - £500 excess.

Didn't take a pic of my car:(

My car is back from being fixed, and it's running great now. New shocks, brakes, ect. And I even have it where my radio accually WORKS!
Of corse you gotta screw with it everytime you turn off the car. BUT STILL!:DMine too. The engine sounds different and the brakes are so much better now. It felt really weird when I went out in it.

You might remember the mention of the online entity Pi a good few pages ago in either of these infernal threads, or maybe a different one, but anyway, she's coming up again, because I can't get her out of my head for like the third time. Even though I barely ever talk to her. Ugh.

We actually had a rare chance to talk for a few hours last night and catch up on things and discuss life in general. I guess most of this part can be skipped, but towards the end, she said she considered me a strong person. This, somehow, is the single most encouraging and empowering thing I have been told in a very, very long time. I sat there with tears standing in my eyes because I couldn't believe somebody -- let alone she in specific -- thought that about me. And it's inspired me. I still don't feel like I'm very strong, but when I remember her saying that to me, it makes me want to be. It helps me try to become what I've always wanted to be. I've been trying harder to keep my chin up and my chest out, to put in that extra step, to smile more often... etc.

Why is this going in the negative events thread, you ask? Well, I just broke up with Avry because I was sick of the distance, and now I've gone head over heels for someone else with probably more distance. Damn it to HELL.

She'll be moving to Virginia (bordering Pennsylvania on the South, a drive of a good few hours, but nothing horrible) for college later this week, and she directly invited me to drop by and visit her for a weekend some time. Needless to say, the thought sends my head into the clouds, but there again, I'm conflicted because I always expected Avry to come see me.

But I suppose that boils down to that I just really didn't / don't feel much for Avry anymore.

Bleh. This kinda bites. Just when I thought I had everything straightened out.

Edit: Nitpicky stipulation: Now that I think of it, I guess Virginia doesn't directly border Pennsylvania, but almost. To get there, you'll have to hit a little of either Maryland or West Virginia, if I recall.Pi did what I didn't and made the first move, and we're pretty much offically back on.

I feel a mild buzz of sorts. My hands are shaking slightly.

She expressed that her primary concern is the whole Internet thing, and doesn't want to try a fully Internet relationship... So I'm going to have to take this one quite seriously. I've recieved her cellphone number and have Mapquested up directions to her location, which is a drive of around 7 hours (this sounds accurate, since I've driven there before.) This also means that I'm going to have to try like hell to disciplining myself into getting up at a decent hour in the afternoon so I can actually interact with her daily, at least. That's something I've needed to do for a long time anyway, for various reasons, and ties into the whole trying-to-be-strong-for-her bit I mentioned.

Uhh... Yeah, I guess I'm out for now.

We've done Cornwall to North Essex (near Cambridge, actually) in 11 hours before now - the journey should have taken 7 - 8 hours.

And I know people who take a day to go from "here" to Scotland - 12 - 14 hours of solid driving if they don't stop and go in the middle of the night.

edit:also, you do realize there was barely any evidence to support the adjustment being required?
I mention the need of one because the customer wanted it, what I did was basicly keep the customer happy and avoid giving unnecesary adjustments.
That doesn't justify me taking advantage of my abbility to confuse people enough to believe me, but still, I find it pretty amusing when I can pull it off.

I had a translation guide off of gamefaqs.
I can tell that the story would've been more powerful if the I wasn't reading off of a text file, but it was still pretty incredible.

For those who don't know about it much...
Earthbound 2 is the last game in the series, and it's for the GBA.
Unfortunately, there isn't any news about an English version. If there was, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but I just have to use a ROM for now.

However, there is a fan-made translation patch in progress that is due at the end of this month. SWEET SUGAR.

At least now we'll be spared of crappy avatars.

Edit: Doesn't she get one of those "BEING WATCHED FOR..." in her sig?
Yeah, that's a small "glitch" with the new vB infraction system.

When someone gets Being Watched, they are essentially moved into the "Being Watched" usergroup automatically, and lose their avatar, since they are not allowed to edit their avatar (for some reason, if you manually move a member, the av stays). As for the sig, that was a manual edit by Sel whenever he used to move a member into the Being Watched usergroup. I doubt we could get vBulletin to automatically change the sig.

Any "lost" avatars reappear once the status is automatically removed.

Oh fun. Must be pretty noisy without proper walls.

It was.

However, my dear brother moved the router into the hall. I now get a consistent signal.

I have a signal of -81dBm, and noise of -91dBm. The SNR is 10.

My signal cuts out once every... six or seven hours now. Very rarely, and not for long. I've updated all of my programs (AVG, X-Fire, Steam, Spybot and Adaware), as well as updated my jEdit plugins and connected to Spoon, my Netsoc's UNIX server.

This is very good again.

Oh, and if my connection goes down for too long, the connection next door is unsecured.

Just kidding.

But not really.

And I got the the monthly fee for free till the end of the year.
That makes 4x €49.- = €196.- which is more than the €70.- caution money for the modem and the €113.60 for installation!

Which surprised me a bit, because I was under the impression that there'd be at least two other guys. Still, not that it matters much.

In other news, Europe eventually won 18½ - 9½, equalling last time's record (for Europe) win.

Rather a demolition job in the end. We've got terrific strength in depth, now (sure the US have No 1, 2 and 3 in the world, but their fourth best player is ranked 18th or something, below quite a few Euros).

Uplink, Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate Tales of the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn, Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal and Dawn of War: Winter Assault.

Uplink is very very fun. However, I've killed five agents already. Oh well.

The problem is, in many of those cases, either bad reflexes or bad log management. Coupled in the latter case with pride.

The first is caused by me accidentally clicking in the login box with the password cracker open, while on a direct link. I was booted the last time from attempting to hack the Uplink Internal Services Server. Luckily, that happened before I was forced off the net due to being unable to pay my 1000cr fine.

The second has occured every time I've hacked a bank without the proper precautions in place. First, I just ran at it head-on, and got smacked down. The next time, I was prepared, and then deleted the logs from InterNIC.

But not the bank itself. Oh well.

Being 20?
Just so we're clear, I went out last night and saw probably sixty people over the age of 20 dressed up in daft costumes. In one pub.

Negative: McDonald's isn't too horrible to work at on a daily basis in general, but when stuff breaks down, or it's time for my GODDAMN PERFORMANCE REVIEW THREE WEEKS AGO THAT STILL HASN'T BEEN ATTENDED TO, its ugly side really begins to show. I am not impressed, and frankly I doubt I'd be much happier working at EB or Compusmart or whatever.

Positive(?): McD's sucks so much that it may have just tipped me over the edge to attending college for environmental studies.

Saw Ross Noble last night at the brixton academey.

He finished the show with an incredibly complicated mime that involved denouncing religion, playing keepy-uppy with an owl and selotaping cats to his legs.

Absolutely hillarious.

I think you could have just said that and we'd have assumed Ross Noble had been involved somewhere.

I finally just bought myself a damn pair of new shoes. I was spurred to do so by the discovery of some nasty callices on my heels and such.

I've been not-getting-around-to-this for way too long, and my life should be a lot easier with less trauma on everything below my chest.

Maybe it was the Dijon mustard souce that a friend once served me with them.

I have got used to putting my wireless mouse back into the charging station whenever I turn off or leave my computer.

Windows has a keyboard mouse feature somewhere, although you should be able to reach all objects in a webpage with the Tabulator and the cursor keys.

As for the mouse, it depends. Some charge when plugged into the USB, some charge on the receptor/charging station, and some are like mine and just eat batteries like crazy. :p

And Bonz you're not supposed to eat the avocado just like that, you use it to accompany other stuff, like when you have a meat taco you put avocado in it and it makes it better. Or make guacamole and makes it even better.

I might get a job at S.I.T. That's a company that makes guitar strings. You pretty much only do one thing all day, it's really a loose atmosphere, the job is easy, you can listen to music the whole time, I know like half the people who work there now, you can dress casual, the pay is more than I see on my two week paycheck that I would get EVERY week, they start you out more than what I am making, hours are pretty good (7 am - 3 pm), there is a very pretty- ( that is most likely single)- girl there who likes me that I would work with, the staff there are very nice, after you get used to everything there you can get paid more than what the pay is based on how many stings you make, good benifits, they are understandable when you need time off.

Yeah, WOW.
The only catch so far is that the work is repetitive, you have to stand the whole time, and I havent been hired yet. But if I do, I'm thinking this would rule.

:D

What is the repetitive work? Twisting wire into guitar strings?
The ability to play "Stairway to Heaven" blindfolded would be a worse catch. :)

Error404
16 Nov 2006, 21:14
Oh well... i find playing "Stairway to Heaven" blindfolded a much more enjoyable activity to stand doing for hours than to twist those little things. I'm pretty sure you'll somehow have REL at some point. :-/

But, hey, it sounds great... i mean... money is money... and it's not like you have to pledge your allegiance to the damn thing, so just hang there until you find a non repetitive job that pays more and have more than one hot chick that likes you working at. Well, second thinking, you better stick with this one... :p

Now, seriously, i hope you get it, mate... i'm cheering for ya... :)

Yeah I couldn't get funding for that, plus their terms and conditions were kinda creeping me out, and they were quite insistent on me making the initial payment, which was all I could pay by the time.

Well, we're 3 hours into my 21st birthday. I got a couple of gifts early -- three bottles of wine (21 is the legal drinking age in the US) and a PSP. No games for the latter, though. Or the former, for that matter.

Edit: And a Flash thingy from Munkee which is really cool.
