I need to stop responding to Worm_PRO and that ilk, lest we end up with a repeat of... what was his name? HaK? I don't know. Anyway, that whole thing was ridiculous and this is entering very similar territory. No thank you.

Doesn't the game count that as a loss for the quitter though? If worms had a statistics page for your profile it wouldn't feel like much of a problem. So what if they ragequit on the last turn? I still get a win.

I think you don't get a win, or nobody gets anything, since a disconnect makes it look like the other one dropped from either end (if it's anything like WA anyways) so the server can't accurately determine the winner/loser.

IIRC the first Street Fighter game (or was it Tekken?) on console that allowed internet multiplayer had that problem, people would just yank the network cable when they lost because it didn't count as a loss on their stats page.
They eventually fixed that in a patch..

Edit: Actually I think a nice solution to that would be to have trophies you can win multiple times, like Battlefield 3's ribbons. Either instead or in addition to steam/console achievements. Whenever your opponent disconnects you get a Rage badge.

To win, you need to be in the game and be declared the winner.
Losing connection to the server/host, no matter for what reason, should always count as a loss.

That way, people are deterred to just drop out to avoid losing and also keep their connection in a proper condition, which generally makes network play a better experience for everyone.

If anything, you'd need a system where your opponent can approve your game abandonment to save you from a loss.

That's good in theory, in practice you get everyone *****ing that everytime the game/computer/internet/world glitches they get a loss and it's so ****ing unfair and totally not their fault and the developers are terrible and argh blargh!!!!111

Well in theory I see no reason why the game couldn't be saved, seeing as how it's turned based. So in the lobby you'd see games in progress, and if the other person is not online you can go in and do your one turn. Or you can press resign, which most people will do if they rage-quitted in the first place.

Now, I don't think it's actually a big issue. It's not worth spending time and energy on trying to implement such a system. People should just learn to deal with online rudeness.
