You currently have zero active infractions, zero expired infractions and zero warnings. That might be why you can't find them :p

They should show up here: http://forum.team17.co.uk/member.php?u=4196 (only viewable by mods and the member in question)

If you want some infractions, then please let either me or AT know :D

Also, you should get a PM when you get a warning or infraction.

Not a Team17 Forum thing, but still relevent.

Over at GameFAQs, in the contest forum, there was a thread asking "What's the age of people voting L-Block?" with a choice of four options:

1) Under 13
2) 13 to 17
3) 17 to 20
4) Over 20

I replied, saying "4." Because, y'know, I didn't need to say anything else (I know this doesn't stop me normally, but anyway)

I then got modded for trolling, resulting in the knocking off of ten Karma and a two-day posting restriction. Hang on...

So I contested this.

Message From PaulPower at 2007-11-05 09:20:22
The thread gave a multiple-choice question asking the age of people who had voted L-Block, with age ranges 1) Less than 13 2) 13 to 17 3) 17 to 20 4) 20 or more I was answering the question by saying that I was in category 4. I was not stating that my *age* was 4, which is highly unlikely. The moderator should have taken the thread's initial post into account when moderating the thread. Alternatively, you may feel it is the topic creator's fault for using entrapment.

Aside from missing out a full stop between "more" and "I", I felt this was reasonable.

This was the reply:

Message From GameFAQs Moderation Staff at 2007-11-05 21:06:41
if you feel the topic creator is trapping people, mark him and explain how. Your post appears to be underage, but it was treated as a moderator troll, hence the warning and not a suspension. Feel blessed.

I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. Aside from anything else, the posting restriction means that I can't visit the Contest board to find the post, and even if I could that thread would have disappeared by now into the massive turnover that board is generating due to the whole L-Block thing. And then there's the fact that, frankly, whoever moderated that is as thick as pig**** for not understanding the context of the post. "Moderator troll?" What? There was a question, and I answered it honestly by saying that I was in category 4 of the poll. If you aren't going to take context into account, then you're a lousy moderator, simple as that.

I know a lot of people consider GameFAQs posters to be the dregs of the gaming community. I didn't realise this extended to their mods as well.

EDIT: Sod this, I'm taking this up with the Lead Mod (leaving out the bit about pig****, obviously):

Message From PaulPower at 2007-11-06 00:02:16
I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. Aside from anything else, the posting restriction means that I can't visit the Contest board to find the relevent thread and mark it. Even if I could visit the Contest board, that thread will by now have disappeared under the massive turnover said board is generating due to the whole L-Block saga. But this is a side issue anyway. I don't know whether that thread was entrapment or not; personally I am inclined to give it the benefit of the doubt. My major grievance is the way that the context of the thread was not taken into account when moderating my post. I stated the true fact that I belonged in Category 4 of the options offered: a cursory glance at the first post in the thread would have ascertained that the original poster was looking for age categories, not ages. Perhaps I could have been a bit more specific, and said something like "4) Over 20 (I'm 22)", but within the context set by the topic creator my post was a sincere, meaningful message that violates none of the rules quoted above, and 98% of readers would interpret it as such. I appreciate that GameFAQs is a large website, and that your moderation staff have a large amount of work on their hands, but context is everything when moderating. I could just shrug the issue off and "feel blessed" as it was condescendingly put, but this is a matter of principle for me.

We're specifically told to moderate anything that looks like a claim of being under 13, even if it's 1 or a fetus claim. It's not a matter of principle; it's a matter of complying with federal law. Look up COPPA sometime. So anyway, I'm not allowed any more appeals.

Of all the... well, words fail me.

why the hell are you posting on gamefaqsBecause a) it's simpler than having an account with a different fan-forum for every single game I like, b) not everyone there's an idiot and c) L-Block. Although it must be said, now I'm questioning why the hell I post at GameFAQs if the mods are going to be this silly.

more importantly why are you getting so worked up about itFirstly because it's bloody stupidity from people in a position of authority. Bloody stupidity on its own I can tolerate, but I was under the impression that moderators had to, well, think before they hit the moderate button. Maybe I've been spoilt by having people like Andrew and Thomas as mods.

Secondly because I wanted to join in the celebrations of L-Block's victory on the Contest board, which I've not been able to do. By the time I get off this status, it'll all have died down. I've also not been able to post anywhere else, because I'd already hit the "Warned" posts-per-day limit by the time I received the status (that was mildly amusing, though. "You can only post ten times a day on this status. Your current posts today is: 33 out of 10").

Well, I think we know what all Novembers Peripheralses will be about...

Now there's a thought. Last night, after typing this up, I was thinking, "dammit, if only I had some blog-like thing to vent my frustrations in!" Didn't think of RealVG. Although it wouldn't be all month. One article, maybe.

More's the point, I reckon I could actually infract him for piracy:

No seriously guys, it totally sucks to find dos games now-a-days. Yes you can get most from the illegal net sites... wont say which. but even at those sites most of the games are shareware versions. Ill give ya one hint, most full version dos games can be downloaded from a FRENCH site.

This forum takes a strict view on piracy, as I'm sure you're well aware. Stiff action is taken when people promote piracy of games, either through direct or indirect methods (although posting a direct link to a pirate version or a no-CD crack will result in a permaban, giving vague hints about where to down such a thing will result in a temp. ban)

Although it would be appreciated if people reported posts through the usual method ("Report post!" link) rather than posting in threads like this.

Well, given the crappy implementation job Microsoft did on the Start Menu, backsing the win+r cmd enter keys is much easier and faster. Especially since I for one use the run prompt for sod all else so I only need to press three keys most of the time.

In case you didn't follow the infamous "Make the Series Better!" thread, Shadowmoon was near constantly switching between liking the modding idea and hating it with a passion.
He doesn't even really know what modding is.

I swear that some of these people are trolls. It really does seem like they're doing ridiculous things on purpose.

All shadowmoon wants is for someone to agree with him, or tell him that his ideas are the bomb. He must never achieve this.

He said he hated modding, but now he says he loves it only because he has nothing to talk about because his thread was closed and his ideas were dick.

Make sure you all refer to him as Shadowmoron.

EDIT: How odd. Although he's most likely lying, his profile says he's a 27 year old Tesco Manager from Cardiff. I mean, if he is lying, then Tesco manager hardly seems like the sort of thing you'd make up.

That is fantastic, MtlAngelus.

Just for everyone's information, there actually ARE 2nd-Person parts in games, they're just rather rare.
The only one I can think of right now is in Metal Gear Solid 3. When fighting The End (a sniper), sometimes it will show Snake through The End's sniper scope. Seeing the player character through someone elses eyes = 2nd-Person.
Or as Yakuza would say, 1st-Person.

anyway, as I've said before, it was a nickname from a friend of mine that I'd recently been given when I registered. I was rather fond of the nickname back then. the 13 is known as an unlucky number, so I figured it went well with akuryou (which means evil spirit).

now I go by Xelioth if you haven't noticed from my recent accounts everywhere. that one comes from Eternal Darkness's Xellotath rune that I wanted to use as my name, but decided to use a variation of it to make the name less generic. ended up with Xelioth after sitting around thinking of other ways to spell a similar word.

Actually, Mtlangelus is ruining the whole thread. Mtlangelus worms is realistic enough, don't ya think? I think the worms look fine. By the way, this is about another X360 game, not realistic worms. Do you read the Title? Mtlangelus didn't add anything to that thread except for silliness.

What? I just made your thread more popular, show some appreciation! :(

No you didn't. Show some appreciation to you? and why would i want to do that? Anyway back to the topic. I think that the next X360 game should be a game and not be downloadable. What do u guys think?
And Mtlangelus wheres my appreciation? And this isn't really a bad thread. Its actually quite good in my opinion.

Your appreciation is in my additional pants pocket. Only, it doesn't make a bit of difference guys, the balls are inert. :o

Seriously, a full retail game on Xbox360 is not a good idea, not the right type of game for it I think, would be a lot better if they release another Xbox Live Arcade title, with plenty of upgrades (surely they could do something a lot better with the new size limit?). They could even port W:ASO there... maybe... probably. :-/

edit: Well only because I made it betterer.

It is a good idea. Maybe it could be a downloadable one. Fine, lets talk about a downloadable worms game instead of a normal game.

No dude a normal game would be a lot better. Seriously. They could make a 3d game and take advantage of the Xbox360 power to make the terrain a lot more detailed and the deformation a lot more smooth, with realistic physics.

I remember when Basti@n made his SpyWorm comic. I rofled at that. A lot. People, myself included, started making fun of him quite a bit, but I suddenly got hit with a bit of a guilt trip. I just suddenly felt people were being harsh. OK, so he needrd to learn, he really did, but I didn't think we were going about it the right way.

Actually, despite my Forum News, I do feel we've all been a little harsh on newcomer idiots lately. We still seem to be quite harsh to Plasma, and to be fair to him he hasn't done much wrong lately, he's certainly better than he used to be (I'm having to look back at old posts here, can't say I was around at the time). I haven't really been following this thread and I don't know what's happening with other posters like yauhui or tal05 but shadowmoon and poninja i think are the current two most annoying posters and I think we're helping them both, I haven't really been keeping up with the thread, but the latter seriously may be beyond it, besides simply needing to learn the english language better

Out in the open, in threads he's posted in? If his behaviour is tackled openly, in public then it's more likely to make him become defensive. Has anyone tried talking to him in private?

Instead of coaxing idiocy you should be challenging it and educating people, not making fun of them.

oh well that sounds more fun, i'll get right on it

He may have had a hot exchange or two with mtlangelus but I don't think anyone has messaged him with helpful tips

This is probably because, let's not kid ourselves here, teaching a 12 year old to not post stupid things on an internet forum is probably on the lowest priority level imaginable

All he tells me is that I think I'm cool but I'm not.

Has anyone tried talking to him in private?if the public statement is that you're doing something wrong and helpfully suggesting tips on how to improve, and the theme of that statement is friendly and the person still replies by yelling at everyone then the problem is not the way the help was delivered. if he doesn't want to listen to advice he's not going to. PMs aren't going to help the problem.
