That's right yo. In a similar fashion to the "What song are you listening to right now?" thread (and by similar I mean exactly the same). It's the "What game are you playing right now?" thread.

I tend to play on my Wii or PS2 whilst searching the forums and right this second i am playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Yup old school huh?
Awaits hordes of SPORE whores

Your playing a game, a storybook, a war game, a racing game, and a DVD/Video, all at the same time, as well as possibly browsing this forum?

I must have owned a micro machines game once. It seems very surreal to race miniature cars around Dinner tables and Garden paths.

Yes. I am awesome.
Also, when I wrote the previous post I have been at work (and still am now).

So, obviously I have misread the title...
Who the hell except you browses an internet forum while simultaneously playing a computer game anyway? Likely on two different monitors.

BTW, those are all PC games.
Sam & Max Season 2 by Telltale Games is the second season of the new adventure game, sequel to Sam & Max Hit the Road.
And Telltale Texas Hold'Em is a poker game by the same company.
I must have owned a micro machines game once. It seems very surreal to race miniature cars around Dinner tables and Garden paths.
Not very surreal actually. More extremely funny in multi-player.
I had a lot of fun playing through the game with my girlfriend and many LOL occasions.

Duh, almost any game that has had 30~ patches is bound to be good... well back in the 90's at least >.>

Pokémon - GBA and DS games on a emulator, so far played leaf green (emulator aint letting me save, so im stuck at the final 4 in my savestate. Can't continue after beating them due to lack of a savegame! ) and a part of Emerald. I believe I got frustrated at Emerald at some point, I forget where, bleh there pretty awesome :P

The DS games I haven't played before and I only just started one, currently having issues with the emulator window not letting me resize it, but thats another story. It looks funnily very similar to the GBA games except for some decent English!

It's great fun just to go ZHIIING! And run about like madness.

Of course, plugging in Sonic 3 to get Sonic 3 & Knuckles was even better. 14 emeralds! The Super Emerals, which made sonic go Hyper, Knuckles go Hyper, and Tails actually go Super.

It rocked. Tails has these birds that fly around him and take out any enemies (including bosses), Knuckles can glide into walls and make earthquakes knocking out most enemies, and Sonic can double jump (and choose a direction, allowing for speed boosts) causing a giant flash that kills everything.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but there was something in RCT2 that i didn't find in RCT1, and that's the fact that you could put walls and doors on certain attractions, (ie.: Cheshire Cats, Tiny Helicopters, Ghost Train, Canoes,...) and that you could save the attraction design along with the decorations you put there.

Still Brawl. Still the last level. But I only have about 5 bosses left, so I'm close to the end!

I still think you should wait until you can at least name more than two games you want for it that you can't already get on a PC.

Rock Band, Halo 3, that fish game, that army game the Colin had. There's 4, 2 of which I can't remember the title to.

Rock Band,
Or a PS2.

...That doesn't exactly fill me with faith. Not because you can't remember the names themselves, but because the majority of the time when someone doesn't know the name of a game, it means they haven't been involved enough in it (ie: only playing it for five minutes), and it's rarely a good idea to buy a game without knowing properly about it.

Just noticed Rock Band has been released for the Wii!
The downside is no downloadable content...
I'm dwelling on whether it is worth buying... :-/
"As both the PlayStation 2 and Wii version lack downloadable content, Harmonix has announced that it will create a series of "Track Pack" expansions for these consoles that can be purchased, containing a number of the tracks already available as downloadable content on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The first Track Pack, consisting of twenty songs, will be released in North America on July 15, 2008, at a suggested retail value of $29.99. According to Harmonix, it will not require the Rock Band disc." -Wikipedia.

Also, it's worth noting that Rock Band 2 is coming out in a few months if you'd rather wait for that. It's coming out on the 360 in NA in September, but the release dates for all other consoles and regions is unannounced for now.

And by the way, I made all of that.:D (Except the game, thats made by EA)

I found it quite... average.

Even though, question: If you crash, it means it's race over, isn't it?

If so, the fun comes from... losing? :( I think that game could bore the heck out of me in seconds, considering it's the same thing over and over without almost no change.

EDIT: speaking of racing games... (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd_aUpOi2NY)

Yes, If you crash your rear wing, or any of your wheels, Your out. If you smash the front wing, it's replacable, but there is no downforce so you go real fast on the straights, but you can't turn into corners easy. However, If you crash with invincibility (adjustable setting) on, Then it's a lot more fun.:)

Lego Star Wars- the video game.
Nice game!
Make sure you also play the second one, the original trilogy!
Great new features, based on the better movies, no Jar-Jar Binks.

Also, you can use the save game from the first one to play with all the extra characters in free play mode.
Which unfortunately brings back Jar-Jar again (although no more silly high-jump, so he's rather useless :)).
The Spore Creature Creator.
Nice.

My friends let me borrow it, and i think i'm in love with it! i don't even think i'll give it back!

I love that if you die you come back to life, in the spot you died in! Also, i have never watched the films, but i borrowed it because the game looked good, i should watch the films. Also Jar-Jar is kinda useless. All it can do is jump high. If i don't complete this game, i'll get it, but if i do i'll buy the original triology.

...And nice creatures, I've already downloaded a few of them anyway. (Your Sporepedia page is in my favourites menu, along with several other people I've found who make good creatures)

Indeed!
It also has never before seen bonus characters to play with.

It's not available for PC though (only for XB360, PS3 and Wii), thus I was biased and forgot to mention it.
I'd really like to have it though.

My Lego Star Wars on PC didn't work very well back in the day I played it. When ever I tried to play a level there would be a 50/50 chance the game would crash. And one level (Defense of Kashyyk) crashed every time I tried to use the grappling hook with chewbacca and was hence impossible to complete.
Strangely, Lego Star Wars the Original Trilogy worked fine.

I've got a new PC since then, too. So hopefully if I ever want to play it again It'll work.

I think this is a useless conversation since both Quake-games and TF2 are pretty good and aren't really like each other so, you can't compare them.

We were comparing TFC to TF2.

My understanding was that Team Fortress was originally a Quake mod, and Valve picked it up.

Apples to apples.

I hope you've at least looked at TFC's mapping entities, if not, here. This one entity was used to create the ammo pickups, flags, and much more, in TFC. Just one entity.

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/285/tfgoalze3.png

The equivalent in TF2 is item_ammo_small, item_ammo_medium, item_ammo_large, and the same with item_health. Oh and item_flag. You can't even specify the models, sounds, or how much health/ammo these pickups give. Valve basically dumbed it down to help appeal to the masses. That was always TFC's weakpoint, it was kind of hard to grasp. But that's what CSS is for.

Well, everytime I hear a TF2er talk about how TFC is inferior it's either "grenade spam" or "I didn't know what to do".

Either adapt or don't play, but don't complain about it as an excuse as to why a game is bad.

"Grenade Spam" is a legitimate complaint, so far as I'm concerned. If adapting involves "Learn how to throw a hojillion grenades down a narrow corridor so as to accrue many kills and increase your score" then there's no difficulty curve - the winner is determined purely by how many grenades they've got, not by any sort of skill.

I spent some time giving TFC a chance and it didn't hold up, so far as I'm concerned. I very nearly didn't pick up TF2 as a result, but the art style of the new one intrigued me.

The "grenade spam" isn't that much of a problem in TFC. I don't remember a single time thinking "man, I wish there weren't grenades in the game". It was a part of the game that worked perfectly.

Squirminator2k

It's more of a problem when people over-do the grenade thing. People tend to do the same thing in Halo.

The only time it was a problem was in dustbowl, during the beginning.

But TF2 removed grenades and that has not solved the problem. Now we have crit rockets spamming those opening gates.

MrBunsy
8 Aug 2008, 08:55
You can hardly spam crit rockets - they don't appear consistently or even that often.

StoneFrog
8 Aug 2008, 15:35
TFC also has concing, pipejumping and rocket jumping.

You can do the last two in TF2 but you have far more air control in TFC.

That's one of TFC's strongest points - its skills community is still going strong.
