In Iguana's signature the word was "is" which really threw me off.

I believe it should be "ferito malum es" (to fight evil is) because Latin likes to have the verb at the end.

And what the hell is ferito? The part of speech is confusing me. I can only come up with that it's the adverb pertaining to "feritus" which apparently means "savage" which would make "ferito" mean "savagely".


Wait, the translator, (which you used to make it, right?) gives this as the answer:

Did you mean "now we come to fight are evil" as two separate thoughts, like "we're coming" and "fighting is evil" or did you mean "now we come to fight our evil"? If the latter, then I would say it as "Iam nostrum malum pugnare advenimus." = (literally) 'Now our evil to fight we come.'

I do. I study Latin (3 years and counting). Unfortunately, my teacher collected in our text books last lesson, so i've nothing to refer to.

I only have a basic knowledge in Latin. A friend of mine took a 2 week intensive Latin course (I.E. Latin all day, every day, for two weeks) and I borrowed and studied her books from that.

So, basically, I know enough to know the conjugations and declensions and word order, but my vocabulary sucks. But I also have the reference grammar and a short dictionary.


I entirely lost faith in electronic translators when I learned Russian. I played around with Babelfish, and "I need a pencil" translated into "Я карандаш" (pronounced: "ya karandash") which means "I am a pencil". :rolleyes: It should be "Мне нужно карандаш" (pron: mne nuzhno karandash) which literally means "to me is necessary a pencil". And there are worse examples than that.
