NEW! Worms World Party Windows Vista - Windows 7 Compatibility Fix v1.5
by Levo

Notes
=============
The WWP Windows Vista - Windows 7 Compatibility Fix is for those who want the game under Windows Vista
or Windows 7. Please make a clean installation of Worms World Party, or remove any other fixes you may
have previously installed, otherwise it may not work. It is unofficial, but is working fine. It comes
with no warranty. Installing SP1 is recommended. You may have to run it with Administartor Rights.
It is recommended to update to this version (1.5).
The game cannot run on laptops that have an Intel Integrated Graphics Accelerator. The problem is that the driver does not support 2D games. It can only be fixed by Intel. Rumors has it that a new driver will fix the problem soon.
Users with ATI cards should update their video drivers, use Catalyst 8 or disable their current driver in Device Manager before running the game.

If you get a "Worms World Party has stopped working..." error, try these steps:
1) Uninstall the fix and THEN the game
2) Browse to the game's directory and delete all remaining files and folders
3) Install the game
4) Copy the DATA folder from the CD to the game directory (overwriting existing files)
5) Install Service Pack 1 (http://wwp.team17.com/main.html?page=comm&area=_down_patc) (recommended, but optional)
6) Install the latest Compatibility Fix

Installation
=============
Run the installer (wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.5.exe) and follow the instructions.
To uninstall find "WWP_Vista_Win7_Fix_Uninstall.exe" in the game's directory.

Change log
=============
v1.0
- Initial Release

v1.1
- Now it disables Aero and then re-enables it, instead of removing explorer.exe from memory
- Uninstaller added

v1.2
- Completely re-written in Visual C# 2005 (fixes the antivirus problem caused by the batch to exe converter)

v1.3
- Support for Windows 7
- Now it suspends explorer.exe while the game is running

v1.4
- A few bug fixes
- Added console/log window

v1.5
- Completely re-written in C++ (Net Framework is not needed anymore)
- Three methods of running the game are now available: Suspend explorer.exe, Disable Aero Effects, Kill explorer.exe
- Test mode, tests every method one by one, so you can choose which works best.

Comments for v1.5 start here (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?p=721323#post721323).

Also note that the fix is splitted in two parts, "wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.5.part1.rar" and "wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.5.part2.rar". This is because of this site's restriction to upload files lower than 100kb.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!
I've seen a lot of people getting confused with the installation of version 1.5.
The fix is a SINGLE installer, compressed and split in two parts.
When you download a compressed file, you just right-click on it and click extract, right? (or you double-click it and select where to extract it)
Now you need to do exactly the same thing, but NOT for both parts.
Download the two files (wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.5.part1.rar, wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.5.part2.rar) and save them in the SAME folder. Then extract ONLY THE FIRST one. Ignore part 2, it will be automatically extracted.

*** PLEASE DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THE LATEST VERSION (1.5) ***

You probably have an Intel Integrated Graphics Accelerator. Worms World Party cannot run on it, because of the driver.

I installed this fix, but I still can't get WWP to work. Everything works fine until i start a game. Instead of the exploding cake, I see a pink square surrounded by black background, and when the game starts, I can hear the music and sounds, controls work, but all I see is black.

What do I do to fix that ?

Doesn't developers from team17 mind people to use this "unoficial" fix?

Doesn't developers from team17 mind people to use this "unoficial" fix?

This fix doesn't "crack" the game executable. It has nothing to do with reverse engineering. It is a launcher for the game, which helps it work properly.

There seems to be a problem with the latest Version of the fix.
I installed it and at first it worked, but after a crash of the game it didnt anymore.

Here's the problem details which should help you figure it out:

System.IO.IOException: The file "pssuspend.exe" exists already.
Stack Trace:
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
at System.IO.File.InternalCopy(String sourceFileName, String destFileName, Boolean overwrite)
at wwp_vista_win7_compatibility_fix_v1_3.Program.Main (String[] args)

Seems you just should invoke the File.Copy Method with overwrite = true ;)

Thanks for pointing this out. A bug fixed version will appear in the next hours.
Now delete the file "pssuspend.exe" in the game directory and all is going to be alright.

I have a new install of Windows 7 (RC) with a nVidia 9800 GTX+ video card (most current drivers). I just installed WWP from scratch and applied this patch (v1.4).

When I launch WWP, I get the command line window that says "Starting Worms World Party...", then I get a window that says "Worms World Party has stopped working". When I click "View problem details", I see:

Windows 7 is BETA. There are too many problems in it. NVIDIA Drivers may also cause the problem.

Probably not.
The game cannot run on laptops that have an Intel Integrated Graphics

Mmmh, why do you call it "Compatibility fix"? I hoped it was real patch fix for the game but it's actually just a "workaround" to disable AERO, stop explorer.exe before running the game! :(

Hope to see soon a REAL FIX.
Thanks for these workarounds in the meanwhile....

Thanks for these workarounds in the meanwhile....

It is IMPOSSIBLE to see a REAL FIX from a non team17 developer. This would be REVERSE ENGINEERING/CRACKING!
And as the Worms World Party development is over, a REAL FIX WILL NEVER APPEAR.
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS "WORKAROUND" DON'T USE IT!

Worms Armageddon is pretty much the same as Worms World Party, except it is still being updated, which means most of the compatibility problems have been, or are going to be in the near future, solved.

That's very good! Is there any chance for a linux port? Or wine compatible?

Muzer
6 Jul 2009, 21:41
It's compatible with wine, after a fashion. But someone made an easy program, that although the interface is not great, it gets the job done of getting it to run in wine. It's called play wa in linux (google it).

I have the exact same problem. (almost)

I uninstalled the fix, uninstalled the game, reinstalled the game, copied the data folder, reinstalled sp1, reinstalled the fix
now it does the same thing.
Everything's fine and dandy up until I try to play a game. Then, pink background, black square, and when the game starts its all black.

Vista Ultimate SP1, Nvidia 8800GT

On a side note. I once tried to play in VMware, on windows XP; it worked, but the colours were screwed and it was all flickery. Might have been down to VMware. Doesn't really bother me though, however I'd like it to work here.

I'm running the patch on Vista and the game runs fine. However, I can't play online. After connecting to wormnet, filling in some logging details and continuing I get some audio sound (that sounds like something happening) but then no servers etc appear, just stays at the blank blue box.

The game is not crashing, port forwarding should be fine.

W:A online worked first time for me.

Any ideas or tips?

The FAW here doesn't help (re-installed, patched, restarted etc)

If the game doesn't work under Windows XP neither, then the problem is your hardware (or maybe a driver).

NEW! Worms World Party Windows If you get a "Worms World Party has stopped working..." error, try these steps:

4) Install Service Pack 1 (http://wwp.team17.com/main.html?page=comm&area=_down_patc) (optional)
5) Install the fix

Installation
=============
Run the installer (wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.4.exe) and follow the instructions.
To uninstall find "WWP_Vista_Win7_Fix_Uninstall.exe" in the game's directory.

I am running Windows 7 64bit. The computer is a Core 2 Duo E6750 with 4GB ram, and 2 ATI HD4870s. I dissabled crossfire (because that makes some other games not run right).

I tried your patch, and it didnt fix the problem. I purchased and downloaded the game from ebworld.com tonight, so all I have is an exe that installs the game, so I don't have a way to do #3 (unless you have a suggestion). I tried installing .net framework 2.0 for x64 and it said this version of windows already has it. I uninstalled your patch, installed the Service Pack 1, then reinstalled your patch and it still didnt work. I also tried all these with and without admin priveledges. Here is the error message I get:

wwp_game.exe is the original game executable after the patch installation.

As you can see in the "Problem signature" the game crashes. This problem is probably caused because your OS is 64-bit.

This patch fixes the color problem caused by the visual style of Windows Vista and Windows 7. When that problem occurs the game does not crash, a black screen or wrong colors appear.

Search the web for a solution for 64-bit Windows 7. If you manage to make the game run without crashing, then install my fix.

If the game doesn't work under Windows XP neither, then the problem is your hardware (or maybe a driver).

well, I am running VMware Fusion on MAC, I also tried Parallels Windows XP (game is running, I hear sounds but screen is a mess) and Cross Over (black screen with sound and after patch worms won't start)

Simply suspending explorer, did the trick for Win 7 x64

I used:
pssuspend.exe from

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897540.aspx

and made a simple batch called wwp.bat
@shift
@echo off
pssuspend.exe explorer.exe
call wwp.exe
pssuspend.exe -r explorer.exe
exit
thats it, put both, pssuspend.exe and wwp.bat on wwp dir and run from the bat.

No more weird colors

The fix 1.4 did the trick for the colors for me, but the game crashes after the cake, regardless of which resolution I try, and Irecinius's script didn't work either...

Windows 7 RTM x64 on a Dual Core Intel processor @ 3ghz, 4 gb ram, 1920x1200 desktop resolution, NVidia GeForce 9800 GT (1gb DDR3).

Any solution?

I use the same exactly program to do it. So no difference. But the fix is a much easier way.

I will repeat. The WWP Windows Vista - Windows 7 Compatibility Fix fixes the COLOR problem. If the game CRASHES, the problem is it's engine and it is probably caused because your OS is Windows 7 BETA and especially 64-BIT. If you manage to make the game run without crashing THEN install this fix to correct the color problem.

Worms World Party is pretty old and badly written. Windows is not the best operating system. It never supported old applications. This combination is the reason the game doesn't work without a fix.

EDIT: Try setting compatibility mode to Vista, XP or 2000 and THEN installing the fix. If you have already installed it, set compatibility to "wwp_game.exe".

As I said before, my version of Win7 is the RTM, which means the FINAL version of the OS, just the one that is currently shipping to stores and OEM's, so it's no beta, or release candidate.

I'll try your suggestions, though. Thanks for taking the time to help me out, I might sound like an a-hole sometimes, but I don't mean it :P

I'm also running the Windows 7 x64 RTM release ... I'm sometimes able to run the game without problems.

It works for about 2 a 3 rounds before it ends in a black screen. It crashes when i try to run the Task manager.

After it crashes it never works until i reboot Windows..

Intel Core i7 3.0 GHz
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
12 GB Ram
Nvidia 9400GT

Worms is probably the only game i ever run on my machine. I really hope there is a way to fix it...

Should i buy Worms Armageddon (since patches are still being developed) ?

Buying Worms Armageddon is a good option, but not a solution :D. But people say that you will be able to play it using the Worms World Party CD. So, you may wait.

Worms World Party was designed for 32bit platforms. Most 32bit apllications may work under an 64bit OS. But this has many issues.

The opening titles work fine, so what this fix is intended to do works. But the rest of the game doesn't work due to limitations/problems with its engine. Your OS is 64bit, so most probably the game cannot run. But try setting compatibility (to wwp_game.exe) to windows xp (32 if available) and then try again.

Windows version and architecture (32 or 64bit) please. Did you try setting compatibility after installing the fix? If yes then you should set compatibility to "wwp_game.exe" and not "wwp.exe" (which is the fix launcher.

Please also note that the game may not work under 64bit Windows due to its engine's limitations. Setting compatibility (wwp_game.exe) to a previous 32bit Windows can fix this the problem.

Alright, so here's the problem...

It *worked* on my Windows 7 Professional x64 before the patching, it just had really messed up colors. And this off the CD - when I used the trial version from the website, it crashed right away.

Well I have the disc in the drive, and after applying the Windows 7 fix it keeps asking me for the CD. But the disc is already there! Anyone else having this problem? Apparently it's unable to see my CD drive now or something...

9.8 ATI drivers don't work for me. The only way to make the game working properly is to use the Win7 basic graphic drivers. Then it works, but during the game I get some interferences in the display (sort of thin stripes that fuzzy the screen for time to time). The game is still playable, but that default is a bit annoying. And then when I escape the game, I need to restart manually explorer.exe (cause I get a black wallpaper and no more Aero interface).

i tried all those tips to make the game work and nothing. after a while i unninstalled my ati catalyst drivers and guess what, after reboot i tested and the game worked, so i guess the problem is from ati drivers.

note that the game worked without drivers with all files intact, i made fresh new install of wwp.

the bad thing is i need the drivers to play games like Modern Warfare 2 proper, right?

hope this helps.

That's true. Try disabling the driver each time you want to play WWP and not uninstalling it (and then rebooting).

On windows vista 64-bit business edition, I had no problem running this game. I upgrade to windows 7, many problems... At first I got the "this program has stopped responding message" so I updated to sp1 and I tried applying your patch, but now I get a message telling to "insert worms world party" which I assume is referring to the CD. Is this because my CD is no longer the original but a burned copy of it?

If this problem can't be resolved, short of me re-buying the game, it's not a big deal because I plan on buying a small hard drive and dedicating it to linux and windows xp. Will there be a compatibility issue with 64 bit xp?

first of all: Thanks for this fix! Even if it's not working correctly for me, you've done great work :)

Windows 7 RTM 64-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad
ATI Radeon 4870 2GB

When I installed WWP today, I got all the colours inverted. Then I found this thread, read the manual/install instructions and installed the fix. Now, the menue and the intro are running fine. The cake at loading is running fine, too, but as soon as I am ingame, the colours are (lightly) inverted again and the terrain is black. I also tried it in compatibility mode XP SP2/3 and Windows98 => sadly unplayable :( You have any idea what do do next ?

I also noticed that the game is often freezing when doing anything in the main menue. It's freezing the whole computer so even CTRL+ALT+DEL isn't working

Maybe you could give me some advice what to try next. (And don't think I am a noob xD I am very used to using my computer, so you don't need to explain even simple things like opening commandline or whatever xD)

Thanks in advance!

I also do have problems with WWP: menus are ok, but the 'cake' is shown as black square on pink background + game is completely black (not even the worms are displayed). The sound is good and shows me that the game is actually running.

I tried the SP of the game and also the win7 "patch" offered by Levo, but with no success (exact same behaviour).

My system is a WinXP Home 32bit on Atom N280 Processor with integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics. As this is DirectX 9 compatible, shouldn't it also be support DirectX 7?

Well, does anyone have a good tip for running this game on my Laptop?

Hey all,

running 8800GT SLI with a quad 6600.

Windows business 64bit.

Ran fine to start with, this is without changing any of the compatability options, the colour problem was the only one i had.

No patches were applied etc but when i applied this hot fix, it displays "team 17" and the "red fox" in perfect colour, but then the screen goes black and it seems to hang.

I have tried messing around with all the compatability options in both .exe's too.

Any suggestions?

cheers

Hi, I downloaded the demo to make sure the game would work before I bought it. So far all that happens when I attempt to launch is it causes my computer to think, or the screen flickers to adjust resolution, but it never opens and everything procedes as if I never opened. I tried the fix offered and now the command prompt opens, then attempts to start up WWP, but never gets past more than a screen flicker or two.

I'm running win7 hp x64 on nvidea gtx 285 cards. I've tried every past OS in compatability mode allowed, but no change in results. Also, I have it set to appropriate resolution and colors in compat mode.

Any ideas? I would really appreciate it as this is one of my all time favorite games and I'd love to have it on this pc. Thanks in advance,

*EDIT* After reading through this thread some more, I realize that I should mention that there is no wwp_demo.exe file, just wwp and wwp_game. I've tried both files with fix and compat mode, same result. I should also mention that graphics drivers are up to date.

*EDIT#2* Today I downloaded a Worms Armageddon demo, patched it (to 3.05 i think), and ran into the same problem. I also tried ending explorer.exe and then running the two games, no difference.

I've just bought this game to find out that it doesn't work, because I have an Intel Integrated Graphics Accelerator. I think that this is absolutely ridiculous. Think of how many laptops use these.

If Team17 aren't releasing updates on this game anymore to fix such stupid problems then they shouldn't be selling the game. A note should at least be made on the box about the situation.

Both a waste of my time and money.

The info on the box was relevant by the time it was printed, Team17 can't be blamed for the fact the graphic devices manufacturers don't take us "old timers" into consideration. Posting such a comment here is what wastes your time, if you want it to be constructive you'd better petition Intel for driver improvement :)

Hey all,

running 8800GT SLI with a quad 6600.

Any suggestions?

cheers

Did the game work fine but with weird colours before applying the fix? If not it is the 64bit issue.

Kmart

Uninstall WWP demo. Delete the folder where it was installed. Install the demo. Browse to the installation directory and rename the main executable (wwp_demo.exe or whatever) to wwp.exe. Install the fix and try again.

You said that it stops working all the time, so most probably you are running Win Seven 64bit. There are problems running the game under 64bit. Try using XP Mode (read the bottom of the third page of this thread for more info).

This happens because the fix makes the explorer "freeze" to run the game. Your workaround is good, you can try making a script disable and then enable the wallpaper cycle automatically (if possible).

I hav Win7 Pro 64-Bit running on my machine (Intel T9300 2,5Ghz Dualcore, ATI 3650 Mobile 1GB GDDR2, 4Gb DDR2 RAM) but nothing works ^^
I tried to start the game after a clean installation, after the SP1 Patch and after using the Compatibility Fix, but nothing worked correctly.
Now i will give it a last chance to do what i want, starting the Win7 Compatibility-Mode at Win98 (or else 32-Bit System) and hope it will work.
If it works (hopefully fine ^^) i will say it to you right here, if not:

Yes it is an integrated Intel video card. Even if the game ran, black screen would only appear. All laptop vgas are integrated.

EDIT: The game crashes because you haven't installed Intel's driver. If you install it, WWP won't crash, but won't work either.

Hello,
I've been playing Worms since the early 90's. WWP is my favorite and I've been playing it since it first came out. I've gone through numerous computer updates since then and have been successful at patching and fixing all of them. However I just purchased a new Dell Desktop and I cannot make it work. I've read through all of these pages of threads on this subject and I see that there are others that have not been able to make it work and some successful. Hello,
I've been playing Worms since the early 90's. Levo, I've tried all of the suggestions you have made and no mater what I try, nothing seems to work :( I'm going through withdrawals!
Here are the stats on this new computer:

Crashes occur because of the 64bit OS. 64bit windows doesn't work properly , especially with older applications.

There is of course nothing wrong with 64-bit versions of modern operating systems, I don't understand why Levo keeps implying there is. It's not even new technology anymore, it's standard in this day and age and fighting it is ridiculous.

What's actually broken is WWP. What you guys should really be doing is either waiting for WA to start working with WWP discs or shelling out the £5.99 for the W2/WA pack in the Team17 store.

Yes there are many problems with 64bit windows (not other 64bit OS). And also there are many problems with WWP. Most users, as you can see, have problems playing WWP under 64bit. This confirms what I say.

Hi, this patch work fine for color, mine problem was my catalyst driver (i set then to 8 from 10 and now it work fine) but now i have another problem.

I solve color problem with ur patch, once again its work fine but i cant play more than one game. After the "victory", the game crash, windows says that "wwp stopped work bla bla" and i got a black screeshot instead of my usual "background".

Any solution ? :)

Please stop asking this question. Windows x64 has x86 emulation to run any 32-bit program fine so long as it conforms to programming standards. If a program doesn't work on x64, it's the program's fault, not x64's.

With that said, my roommate has an x64 laptop and can run WWP fine. I am an x86 (32-bit) desktop and I cannot. We are both running Windows 7 Ultimate.

In any event, I clean-installed twice. I was able to run WWP just fine from my XP install when I first had installed Windows 7. It's been a few weeks, and now I've tried, and I cannot run it. I first tried clean installing it and using the Vista 1.1 Compatibility Fix here (http://forum.team17.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36539) (as I had done before to my XP Installation as the colors were wrong) and that wouldn't even boot up.

So, I tried yet another clean install with this workaround, (both with and without SP1) and it doesn't work. I've tried a variety of compatibility modes, and they don't work.

And I have an ATI Radeon 4350 with up-to-date drivers. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you trolling me? I didn't say you can't ask questions. I'll make this short and bold so you can read it:

I AM USING WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE x86/32-BIT. STILL

And for the record, no, 64-bit Windows 7 doesn't have any problems that are brought on by not being 32-bit. The problems lie in the 32-bit applications themselves. When my friend got his new laptop, I reinstalled everything he had been using on his 32-bit laptop for the past three or so years. ONE thing didn't work, and it was a terrible scanning utility for his scanner that was crappily programmed, and had been made for Windows 95.

And he can play Worms on his 64-bit perfectly without any patches, and I cannot. XD

Yeah, I did, check my first post. I got annoyed when you scolded me like you were doing for other people even though I did everything right. And I am on topic. You were the one to go off-topic telling me to be nice to you, which I'm only answering.

Yeah, that was my initial guess since it worked before. I tried the color settings, and I'm still getting the same error. I've tried compatibility mode with every OS, as well as tried it with the compatibility off. I've also tried it with 256-colors, running it in 640x480, disabling visual themes, disabling desktop composition, and even the DPI setting, but things usually work better with that last one off.

And I always run in administrator mode, but, I've tried it once without it just 'cause. I always get the following error:

"Worms World Party has stopped working", and it checks for solutions online or whatever.

Making people mad is one of those talents. :p

Have you read the stickies in the WA Support forum (http://forum.team17.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=68) and checked if any of the proposed solutions work for you? If they don't, you might as well open a new thread there and describe the issues in a bit more detail. I've deleted some of the more pointless argument from this thread, but I've left anything that's even slightly constructive or required for the thread to make sense.

Do feel free to continue, but please be civil. A good rule of thumb is that if you're using bold type or the phrase 'learn to read', you're probably being a dick. If someone is being a dick then report it; don't have a three page argument and then expect me to clean it up, because I've got better things to do and it's so much faster just to trash the whole thread.

Mopquill: W:A support won't help you play WWP but it will help you play W:A which is by now better anyway.

Check the control panel for the 16-bit option. I said nothing about the compatibility tab.
Surprise, it still didn't fix anything. XD

In any event, I didn't know that option was there. I was on XP until a month ago, and on XP your options are 16 colors (4-bit), 256 colors (8-bit), True Color (24-bit), and True Color (32-bit). I figured you'd meant 256 colors, as that would be the one with a compatibility advantage, as opposed to 24-bit. It doesn't make any sense that 16-bit would help compatibility in any way whatsoever. *shrug*

In any case, the appropriate answer to Davido, rather than ignoring him and having me fail to answer him would have been:

Davido, 16-bit color can be achieved by going to:

Control Panel > Display > Adjust Resolution > Advanced Settings > Monitor Tab

Then use the drop-down box on the bottom left of said tab (labeled Colors), selecting High Color (16-bit). Good luck.

The game cannot run on laptops that have an Intel Integrated Graphics Accelerator. The problem is the driver and can only be fixed by Intel.

Any news will be announced to the first post, but I don't think that Intel cares about this issue.

Its like... lots of squares.. flashing. then for a sec it was fine (except for some squares on the bottem), Then it screwed up again.

Could be something with refresh rate?........

Still i have a question (since i'm not so super pro in handling software).
I've been continuesly reading about the Intel graphics accelerator being a pain. So my question is:

Is there a way to shut down that graphics accelerator and make the game work?

I'm sorry if I missed a post that allready handled this question. (I'm dutch, so some solutions are hard for me to follow since everything is named differently on my computer :/ )

Any way, thanks again Levo for putting so much effort in helping others :)

First of all I want to thank Levo for putting all his effort in helping others out, even if they are a pain or a bit slow. You really rock Levo :) (you should deserve a medal lol :P )

I've been reading this thread for a while now, and i've been (constructivly) trying out every solution given, shamefully, still my wwp doesn't work. You don't have an Intel graphics accelerator, so you don't need to worry about that. The game sometimes doesn'y work under 64-bit Windows, nobody knows why. Which Catalyst driver do you use?(version?). Is it Windows 7 Ultimate?

I don´t? Well allright, I guess in this case that's a good thing :p

Aye i've been reading about win 7 x64 being a problem, but also seen posts that claimed having no problem with it, so I was hoping mine would be one of them :p
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium OA (Says a sticker on the bottom of my laptop...)

I'm not quite sure what version of catalyst i'm using, according to the info screen (Seen at the top right of the control center, under options -> Help -> About Catalyst control center)
Version 2009.1209.2335.42329
I'm quite new with laptops, and that catalyst control center, so please excuse me for the lack of experience, and perhaps for the lack of usefull info..

Thanks anyway for helping me though :)

I switching to windows 7 Ultimate 64 since Friday. I hope it will be working. I know there is WA and WR soon, but I lost my WA disk and I'm not willing to d/l it illegally and WR is yet to be released.

Hello,

I recently installed this compatibility fix under Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. However, whenever I try to load the game I get the "Application has stopped working" message and under "details" it mentions "APPCRASH".

I'm using Catalyst 10.3 Drivers with an ATI 5770. The same happens with a 2600XT in another system.

When I was using Vista 64 bit, the problem was not present and this excellent fix worked fine.

Uninstall your current Catalyst driver and install version 8. That way the game should work. If you don't want to do this, disable the driver in Device Manager, restart your computer and the game should also work. Then re-enable the driver and restart. Do this every time you want to play.

Hi there, haven't played any worms for a very long time, though I'd install the classic Worms World Party and give it a go. I use Windows 7 x64, I installed the game according to your instructions, even installed catalyst 8, however, I still get "Worms World Party has stopped working" error.
Can you think of any fix for this error?

Hi there,

I have installed a Windows 7 on my PC and I'm using a Symantec Anti Virus. I was downloading a Google chrome browser and when I have done the installation process. A pop up message box came up that is stating error. Buy as I turned of my Symantec anti virus the browser was then installed.

What should I do? should I use another Anti virus? or Do I only need to configure some of the options on my Symantec and what do I need to configure on the options?

needing help.

Works perfectly under Win7 x64 with a switchable 8400M GS (7.15.x)! Did not install anything with admin rights, nor running WWP in compatibility mode. Great job :)

Thanks for your help mate :)

Though i guess i just have one of those windows 7 x64 operating systems that doesn't want me to play wwp :< Because i've tried to disable the driver by going to the device manager then clicking on the "Beeldschermadapters" (in English Screenadapters (or something :P)) then disabeling the videocard i have, because i think that's what you meant by "disable the driver in Device Manager", rebooted the laptop, then started the game, still it said, after turning my screen black twice, "Worms World Party has stopped working".

Though I haven't tried to instal Catalyst Control Center version 8, because I can't find the download of it, anywhere. I googled it, but then i only get sites where you have to register, and then pay to download it (wich i'm not doing). I also tried the official AMD site (http://ati.amd.com/products/catalystcontrolcenter/index.html) but then it only links me to a site where i can download version 10.3. So it might sound simple to someone with experience :p but for me "Uninstall your current Catalyst driver and install version 8" is quite complex >.<

As I said before, i'm not quite profound with software... And I only have myself to blame for it :p

Thanks alot for your help though, Levo :) If there is anything you can think of to help me still, then please name it, if not, then i'm gratefull for the help you gave me so far :) Especially because this topic is actually ment to repair blurry colours , and not make the game work... (Tried to find such a topic on the web, no succes though :/)

Hi there!

I've install WWP on my Vista comp, with lot of nostalgy... a very good game that I loved!

And damnit, black screen and crash message : wwp.exe has encounter an error and must be close, or something like that.

I've test your compatibility patch, doesn't work for me.

I've tried your manipulation, uninstalling and re-installing game and patch : doesn't work.

So, I've tried copying data forlder from disc to folder, no more results.

Turn wwp.exe into wondows xp sp2 compatibility, and put my screen at 800x600. Failed.

I even tried to install it on a virtual pc with XP. Same problem.

Can anyone here please tell me what is wrong?

Here is my computer dxdiag :

HP Pavilion
Proc : Intel Core2 Quad Q6600 @2.40GHz
Graph : ATI Radeon HD 4800
Memory : 4Go RAM

Please help!
