Hi there, haven't played any worms for a very long time, though I'd install the classic Worms World Party and give it a go. I use Windows 7 x64, I installed the game according to your instructions, even installed catalyst 8, however, I still get "Worms World Party has stopped working" error.
Can you think of any fix for this error?

I'm sorry, I don't know anything else that you can try. 64bit causes alot of problems.

Though i guess i just have one of those windows 7 x64 operating systems that doesn't want me to play wwp :< Because i've tried to disable the driver by going to the device manager then clicking on the "Beeldschermadapters" (in English Screenadapters (or something :P)) then disabeling the videocard i have, because i think that's what you meant by "disable the driver in Device Manager", rebooted the laptop, then started the game, still it said, after turning my screen black twice, "Worms World Party has stopped working".

Though I haven't tried to instal Catalyst Control Center version 8, because I can't find the download of it, anywhere. I googled it, but then i only get sites where you have to register, and then pay to download it (wich i'm not doing). I also tried the official AMD site (http://ati.amd.com/products/catalystcontrolcenter/index.html) but then it only links me to a site where i can download version 10.3. So it might sound simple to someone with experience :p but for me "Uninstall your current Catalyst driver and install version 8" is quite complex >.<

As I said before, i'm not quite profound with software... And I only have myself to blame for it

I've install WWP on my Vista comp, with lot of nostalgy... a very good game that I loved!

And damnit, black screen and crash message : wwp.exe has encounter an error and must be close, or something like that.

I've test your compatibility patch, doesn't work for me.

I've tried your manipulation, uninstalling and re-installing game and patch : doesn't work.

So, I've tried copying data forlder from disc to folder, no more results.

Turn wwp.exe into wondows xp sp2 compatibility, and put my screen at 800x600. Failed.

I even tried to install it on a virtual pc with XP. Same problem.

Can anyone here please tell me what is wrong?

Set wwp_game.exe in XP compatibility mode and not wwp.exe. Are you using Windows Vista or Seven? 32bit or 64bit? Which Catalyst version do you have?

Users say Catalyst 8 should work, not 9.8. Try this one. Disable the driver in Device Manager, restart your computer and the game should now also work. Then re-enable the driver and restart.

Don't even try it people. It's very similar to the first version of the Compatibility fix. It kills explorer.exe and, as a result, many problem can occur.

Hey! Im tried to run WWP on Windows Seven x64 Ultimate with ATI/AMD Graphics Card...

The problem i have is that WWP closes before i get into the game...

Awesome work here, did well for me, for those who get to run it, but goes black screen when you start a game, just update your drivers, that worked for me, windows 7 32bit, ati card. Good work! cheers! been tryna fix the problem for the past 4-5 hours, finally playable, everything works great! great work on the fix!

Owh, and you also have to activate the 256 colours only and and run as an administrator for the file wwp_game.exe in the compatibility in properties.

Go to: Control Panel->Device Manager and find your video graphics accelerator. Right click and choose disable. Then restart your computer. When you finish playing just re-enable and restart again.

As far as I am concerned no. Intel driver does not support 2d games.

Cracks are illegal, no I don't have any. If you own the game and you get this message, it happens because you installed the wrong language update. Reinstall the game and and install the correct language.

I read somewhere that this problem will be fixed, but as you can see nothing has happened up to now.



I had exams these days and I didn't have time to answer you. Now I am working on a new version of the fix (1.5) which will allow you to choose between three methods (1.suspending explorer.exe 2.disabling aero (or something like that) 3.killing explorer.exe). Everyone who had problems with the previous versions should definitely try it. It will be ready in a few days. It is written in pure C++, so Net Framework is not needed any more. I hope it will help.

i ve spent a lot of my time now to get world pary on my samsung notebook with vista working. downloaded the game somewhere, used cracks, some "colorfixes" and this new patch, to download here.

when i m starting the wwp.exe the screen gets black, grey,black, blabla until it says, the game'S not working any more. it shuts down.

It was a trauma for me.

Afterwards I came to this thread, discovered the fix, installed it in its version 4 (in just one click: congratulations to the fix maker!!), and everything went ok during months: the colour problem was over;

But some days ago i had this message on my computer (see message enclosed).

Afterwards, the game could not be launched anymore. I had a message on a black screen, saying (in French ;-) 'WWP has stopped working..."

I looked for a logntime but could not find a solution.
therefore i went back to a safety system point at a date of a few days ago, and everything is fine again. I just used my Ninja rope!

I have no idea what was that message for a driver update.
But i can testify that on the same computer, WWP can work, or not work, depending on very small parameters....And WWP definitely works on my Windows 7 64 computer.

Problems:

-my screen turn to black..

I tried installing the latest ATI Catalyst

I tried disabling my video driver
I tried playing with compatibility options (running it as Windows 2000, running it in 256 colors)

I tried some of the above together, i tried all of the above together, nothing seems to be working!

I don't know why all these crashes occur under Windows 7, but they have nothing to do with the color problem. Try running the game in safe mode (windows) and check if it works.

Afterwards I came to this thread, discovered the fix, installed it in its version 4 (in just one click: congratulations to the fix maker!!), and everything went ok during months: the colour problem was over;

But some days ago i had this message on my computer (see message enclosed).

Afterwards, the game could not be launched anymore. I had a message on a black screen, saying (in French ;-) 'WWP has stopped working..."

I looked for a logntime but could not find a solution.
therefore i went back to a safety system point at a date of a few days ago, and everything is fine again. I just used my Ninja rope!

I have no idea what was that message for a driver update.
But i can testify that on the same computer, WWP can work, or not work, depending on very small parameters....And WWP definitely works on my Windows 7 64 computer.

Something is going wrong with windows' updates :P

This thread is for Worms World Party. This fix may work for WA, if you rename WA's main executable to wwp.exe. But you do not mention that you have done that.


Im running on Windows 7 and have an ATI Radeon 4300 graphics card...i hav catalyst version 8 and also tried the windows 7 fix but when it tries the 3 different modes, 1 and 3 it says are not working and 2 has failed..any solutions?? Pls help coz i really wanna play wwp...thnx

sorry, I have a problem! I installed the game and the fix works fine now .. but when I enter the game I hear the sound of the dialogues and the music but not the effects! i hear not the footsteps , I hear not the blast of bombs ! What can I do?

Weird, I haven't heard of such a problem before. I don't know what to suggest, it's probably something with your sound card.


Everything seems to work fine for me, but game simply won't notice I have the disc in my drive. It asks me to insert the disc then start again. Any ideas?

You may have installed wrong SP1 language.

I followed the steps and i can't make it work either.

I have a ATI Radeon HD 5700

I tried installing the 1.4 fix (i can't manage to unrar the 1.5)
I tried installing the latest ATI Catalyst
I tried installing the 8.x ATI Catalyst
I tried disabling my video driver
I tried playing with compatibility options (running it as Windows 2000, running it in 256 colors)

I tried some of the above together, i tried all of the above together, nothing seems to be working!

It's not a bat file, it is pure C++ (programming language). It is a native Windows executable.


I just picked up WWP for a cheap price, but I'm having the same problems as the above people are. I am on a Windows 7 64-bit PC with a ATI Radeon HD4650. Catalyst won't install because I am on 64-bit. Got any other fixes?

Try installing the latest version of catalyst, it may work.

well I was feeling nestalgic and picked up a copy of worms world party after I preordered Worms Reloaded. Well like others I am running Win 7 Pro 64bit, Crossfire 4870 and a AMD Phenom II x4 3ghz CPU and 8gb of ram and I can not get this fix to work, I spent a small amount on the game so Im not to upset but still would be nice to get it running. I REALLY want to get Worms Armageddon to work that was the best. :)

I have done your full method of installing etc... and on all three tests your fix does, the game doesn't start up, it crashes with the "game not responding error." And when the CMD window comes up it says "accessing configuration file... fail" followed by "ERROR configuration file could not be found" is it supposed to say this?

I just tried this on my UK version and it didn't work. I ran the wrapper as admin but each test still resulted in a crash. I tried copying the stuff from the CD like you said in the first post with no success.

I have the same problem ("WWP has stopped working") and I have a Core Duo 2.6GHz, Radeon HD4850 1 GB and 2 GB RAM.
And it seems that I can't install the second part of the 1.5 fix: when I try to extract it with 7Zip, it says that the file is corrupted.

Hello My Worms works great i am on Windows 7 i have the pach wwp_USsp1 and also the vista pach wwp_vista_win7_fix_v1.5 but when i try to go and play online it doesent work it gets me the mesage (Your version of WWP is out of date go to ... and download) does anyone know why is that

I downloaded both parts of the V1.5 fix. Part 1 extracted fine. Part 2 errors when trying to extract the zip (rar) file. When I install part 1 and play the game, a command prompt window opens and disables explorer.exe. The game then proceeds to play great. When I close the game, the fix goes to its next test which disables the aero. This time the game plays with the inverted colors. when I close the game this time I get an error in the command prompt box (I am assuming because I only have half the fix working due to the inability to get part 2 to extract properly). Does anyone have the part 2 file in a non-corrupt form or know how to stop the test program after the first test?

Hi. I've tried to install and play WWP on my new laptop and had the same problems that have been discussed here. I've followed all instructions, uninstalled the fix, THEN the game, then installed, copied DATA and replaced files in the game's directory, installed SP1 and then the fix... and it still doesn't work. "Most people" aren't those 20-30 people that are complaining that the fix does not work. There are more than 23000 downloads of the fix (not to mention downloads for v1.0 to v1.3) and people having problems are less than 400 (in total).

Also note this line in your report: "Application Name: wwp_game.exe"
"wwp_game.exe" is the game's executable. The fix's executable is wwp.exe. The game crashes, not the fix. This happens because it is a very badly written executable and cannot run on your computer (OS architecture, vga driver, or whatever).

I don't have access to a laptop with this VGA. You can try the latest driver from Intel. Then make report and post it on the forum.

You don't have to extract both parts. Download the 2 files, put them on the same folder and simply extract the first one.

During the installation of WR, something must have been installed on your computer. I don't know what it could be. I don't think that uninstalling WR can help.

Hey sorry, maybe someone's already had this question and it's been answered but I can't get wwp to work on my HP laptop (windows vista). I've tried changing the compatibility and downloading various service pack but nothing seems to work.

Without the service packs/patches the screen goes black then grey then black then it says that "worms world party stopped working".

When I intalled the service packs it doesn't even try to start but just says to insert the disk and click okay to continue even though the disk is already in. Any advice? I have a mobile intel(R) 4 series express chipset family video card if that helps.

Successful gameplay on different platforms depends mostly on drivers. Try different versions.

I remember using this fix loong ago... On XP... The fix was on 1.3... I had installed WWP that same day after a long time without playing... The fix didn't help, but rebooting did. Stupid me :D

Why I can play the Worms Armageddon but I can't play WWP on Win7

ok i cant find a single way to be able to play the game. 1st i try to play and it says the programs stopped working! next i try to install one of the parts to the 1.5 fix and it says error configuration file not found then i try to install part two. and it says the previous fix was removed and so i try it with that part. but it says the configuration file was not found again... I've seen a lot of people getting confused with the installation of version 1.5.
The fix is a SINGLE installer, compressed and split in two parts.
When you download a compressed file, you just right-click on it and click extract, right? (or you double-click it and select where to extract it)

akshay822, you should be running the game using wwp.exe, not wwp_game.exe. I'm not sure what that executable is, but it's not the right one.

At the end of the tests select one of the methods, it will be saved and will not ask you again.

with 1.5 patch still didnt work for me in windows 7..:(

i used ASUS 1015PED netbook.. it plays well in windows XP mode.. however still it is quite a burden to switch to windows XP since i had to change the drive setting from AHCI to IDE in BIOS if i want to use the XP.. and back to windows 7 if i want to work..

The game cannot run on laptops that have an Intel Integrated Graphics Accelerator. The problem is that the driver does not support 2D games. It can only be fixed by Intel. Rumors has it that a new driver will fix the problem soon.
Users with ATI cards should update their video drivers, use Catalyst 8 or disable their current driver in Device Manager before running the game.

If you get a "Worms World Party has stopped working..." error, try these steps:

This fix works for the game, but when I exit the game and open some other files on my computer (e.g. Adobe files, pictures and other media files) the colours on my screen all become inverted (as in the game before this fix). How can I stop this? It is really annoying when I open a video file and all colours are messed up...

When i try to download v1.5 part 1 or part 2 i get an error message saying this:
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.
Btw WWP works perfectly on my brothers laptop without installing a single fix or update and thats windows vista.

Yep, totally the same here, have to boot xp with that mode (or to use the VMware, but it's painful to rope). Except I have a laptop with Intel integrated card. But! I wonder why does it work in Windows XP, and not in Windows7/Vista? Do the XP drivers have the "2D games support"? It looks a bit weird, isn't it?

Hi there. I have a Windows 7 64-bit laptop with both integrated (Intel HD graphics) and separate video adapters (NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M) - ASUS N53SV. I tried running the game with both of them, and your fix works for me, but only partially. It fixes the colors in game menus, but when I start a mission, I see a black background and some terrain objects, with messed up colors.

Any way to fix this? Tried setting and unsetting compatibility mode and 256 color mode, it didn't affect anything. BTW, sorry for bad English if any.

OK, I was able to resolve the issue mentioned in my previous post by closing all the other programs and restarting the fix. It worked (method 1). But now another problem appeared: each time I start the fix, it says "Unknown OS. The game may not work properly". How can I remove this message?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and ye as mentioned above all the tests the fix were making did not work so is there a catch somewhere that i missed?

I can't seem to get worms world party to start after installing sp1 because it tells me to insert the right disc and I do have the right disc inserted. I wasn't able to get worms world party to work before the sp1 so i'm just trying to get it to work in win7 64 bit but I know it is a long shot.

I would like to sum my battle with WWP and WA on Win 7 & Intel integrated graphic card. Any suggested patch did not help in my case - IMHO because of Intel graphics. So I started with different virtual machines. I started with VMware Workstation v7.1.2.301548 and emulated Windows XP Sp3 Enterprise, unfortunately there where some graphics artifacts, game-play was not possible. I tried also Win 98 SE with VMware but with no success. Next I tried with MS Virtual PC 2007 SP1 with WIN XP SP3, graphic in game was OK, but only in small window mode, switching to full-screen cause black screen with no graphics at all, what is more the speed of the game was incorrect (everything was too fast).

Finally - the solution in my case:
VirtualBox-4.1.2-73507 with the same emulated system (WIN XP).
Simple installation from WWP iso, then apply a patch (wwp_EUsp1_UK.exe) and game working in 1024x768 with full sound and optimal speed. One minor problem is you have to switch on and off mouse pointer integration when you are switching between the game and the menu (in my case), but this is piece of cake IMHO.

What is more WA also run very nice on VirtualBox, but without newest patch. So I install the game, then WA_Update-3.0.5.0_Beta_2.exe and the game is working now. With next update: WA_update-3.6.31.0_Beta_Installer.exe and GfxUpdate-3.6.28.0.exe I had a problem as follow: game has started, menu was OK but if I started the battle, screen turned black and the virtual machine stopped working.

I hope the post will be useful for someone.

1. Install the Game
2. Install the Fix
3. Set Win 7 to "Basic" ( without AERO)
4. Set on wwp.exe File the Compatibility Mode
- Vista (without SPs)
- 256 Colors

Run the Game and its worked fine for me :D

I got WWP from ebay but I don't get it working.

I tried it with my pc (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1, ATI Radeon 4890, Catalyst 11.9) and with my Netbook (Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1, ATI Radeon 6300, Catalyst 11.9) but without luck.

In almost all forum threads I read about where people got wwp running on Windows 7 x64 they're using nVidia graphic cards, so I think the compatibility fix or the game do not like ATI cards.

I tried the Windows XP Mode, too. But also without luck.

Can anyone help me?

Kinda like hompen, I have an ATI Radeon card on my laptop (the HD4570) and Win7. I installed the last Catalyst driver, I have an ISO file of my original CD (which I lost...)

Neither of the 3 tests work, each time the game is launched I have a "memory could not be read" error at address 0x004fca43 or something like that...

Is it really because of my graphic card ?!

Anyway, I managed to get it work on my girlfriend's laptop which has an Intel graphic card (maybe just a chipset, not sure about that, but it's not an "intel graphics accelerator"), and without the fix, just a .bat as the main executable, to fix the color inversion problem.

Hi, i just wanted to play wwp again on my windows 7 computer. installed the game, then this compatibility fix. in two of the cases it started in correct colours but never showed the colours properly while playing the game. it is only a black screen while you can see the worms hanging in midair. what can i do?

After some tests with VMs running Win XP (extrem mouse lags and distorted font), I gave up to get WWP running with Windows 7 and Catalyst 11.9.

So I set up my Notebook with Ubuntu 11.10 and Wine 1.2.
And what should I say, running fine :) simply following the instructions at the Wine HQ.

The amount of useless "fixes" of this "patch" is too damn high!

I'd just like to pop in and add that I also cannot get WWP to work. I've tried everything from compatibility modes to killing explorer.exe, I've followed all the instructions, etc. I've done everything I can think of, but the game simply will not work. I always receive a "Worms World Party has stopped working" message before the game even starts.

It would be so great if this game got the same treatment as Worms Armageddon, but that's just wishful thinking, I guess.

That's exactly the same problem I have. Black screen and error box "stopped working" on top of it.
I don't think it will be useful that WWP gets the SAME treatment as W:A since it's so outdated. But at least a startup fix to get it to work again would be nice.

guys that are having problems with Radeons graphics should try downgrade to 9.8 drivers (catalyst control center + display driver)

(choose 64 or 32 version that suits ur OS)

- firstly uninstall current drivers (i did in device manager)
- restart PC
- install 9.8 (if installing package fails at some point try to install display driver again from device manager)
- run wwp (worked after clean install for me)


if you don't wanna downgrade your drivers you can use virtualbox and run wwp on xp as well.

Try to disable the browsers (such as IE, firefox, chrome, etc.), they are the most common issue. And try closing other programs as well, if this didn't help.

Hi all, there are my experience, I normally installed wwp on pc ( athlon x2 64 , 2GB ram, atix1950pro, soundblaster audigi se) with win 7 64bit professional, ccc 10.2, colors were messed up, but fix 1.5 solved problem.

I tried install wwp on my notebook (lenovo e320, i5, amd hd6630) with same os, but when I launched, black screen and error box "stopped working" on top of it. I tried all compatibility modes, none worked. I tried win xp sp3 in virtual box (firend told me, xp mode doesn't solved problem even with age of ampires 2, so I didn't tried that), but same black screen and error box "stopped working" in xp too.

Anybody some suggestions?

Edit: with intel graphic in cpu wwp (with patch) is working, but it's not so smooth (in battery saving mode) like on asus eee with atom (but win xp).

Now I have tried to uninstal worms, the fix and deleting all the files. Then installed a fresh copy of both the game and the fix. But nothing changed.

It's weird because I didn't change anything to the files (besides the windows 7 fix) and it suddenly went from working to not working, even with a fresh instal.

Any help would be appreciated.

No, I changed nothing. Not on purpose at least.
But it's already fixed. I got Worms Armageddon instead and that one runs smoothly.

this will not fix the crashes, only palette. nothing will help you, but maybe updated drivers

And i have tried everything to run my game worms world party but every time i do so, my screen go black and a pop up message appear saying that "Worms World Party Has Stopped Working"... Please Some Help me.. i have tried every patch and every compatibility setting.. please guys help me!! :(

method 1 and 3 worked for the game menus, but when i start the game it displays nothing

Just choose the EXE of the game that needs to be fixed (wwp.exe in our case) and apply. You're done!:D
No need to turn off explorer/aero/etc or use any fixes at all anymore! Don't forget to remove all other fixes after this to prevent additional problems.

you mean the DirectDrawFix or the fix from this thread?
DirectDrawFix works for both 32-bit and 64-bit, but ensure to remove all other fixes so it works properly.

I've followed the instructions on the first page:
Installed
copied DATA from disk
Installed SP1
Installed 1.5 compatibility patch

And I'm still getting the "Worms World Party has stopped working" error

sorry, none of the fixes in the thread will help from the crash. They only fix palette.:(
However I know a partial solution to run wwp on these PCs (with a bit of glitchy windowed mode), but it will still crash when starting the match
Did you try updating graphics drivers? I was having exactly the same problem and in one good day it magically gone :o

PS: and indeed, the fix in this thread isn't more than a color fix, so the title should be "palette fix" rather than "compatibility fix"...

It crashes with app stop error? then there's no way to fix it, except updating drivers (which helps only depending on the graphics card; for me it helped).

All the "fixes" are only for colour problems. None of them will prevent the game from crashing!!!

Are you running browsers? (Internet explorer, chrome, firefox)? If so, close them. They are common WWP palette stealers. Also skype, but there can be a lot of others

Anyone solve this problem with win7 64-bit?

So I ran the test mode, had colour for the first time (WOOHOO!) in mode_2, so afterwards set it to mode 2. But it hasn't worked since that! (argh!) I tried to uninstall, reinstall the fix, but it saved the mode_2 regardless. How do I go back to test mode? Any other ideas?

If you actually have the CD version of the game already, you may have used the wrong language patch when updating.

Simply suspending explorer, did the trick for Win 7 x64

I used:
pssuspend.exe from

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897540.aspx

and made a simple batch called wwp.bat

pssuspend.exe explorer.exe
call wwp.exe
pssuspend.exe -r explorer.exe
exit
thats it, put both, pssuspend.exe and wwp.bat on wwp dir and run from the bat.

Why are you asking it for the third time already? You first install the game and update, and only then apply fixes.

I have a Core2Duo plus an ATI 4650 HD, and the system i have running on it is Win7 Ultimate 32bits SP1. I used to make WWP work so nice on XP, but since I tried 7, could never make it work again, neither by fixes and compatibility issues mods, nor even in an XP Virtual Computer, and I'm literally out of ideas. I can play Worms Reloaded but -let's face it - is not as good and cute as the good old WWP, and only for ONE GAME I cannot change the whole OS (not cheap, btw).

Is there another way (no problem if it's hard to put up with) to make it work here? Where is the key problem here? Are the DirectX libraries getting in the middle of me and thousands of worm corpses laying around a cheese battlefield? I can try (and share) a solution, if I know where to start looking for it.

If you have a Core i5 and up Processors you do have Intel Card to make WWP work - it is built in your processor.

I ripped the game from my cd to an iso file and mounted it to a virtual drive on my comp. when i run the game, it errors and tells me to put a disc in the disc drive. How can i redirect it to run from the virtual drive?

It's not work on my Asus EEEPC 1015b and win7 x86.In 1.3 patch,I see only twice blimbs of black screen,and then it close with crash message without any annotation.In 1.4 situation like in 1.3.But in 1.5 situation next-app ask me to start test,I tap Enter,in first test mode he write's that OS is not ssupported.In second-problem like in 1.3 or 1.4.In third-error from taskkill.exe.Results-test 1 failed,test 2-problem,test 3-failed.
