please excuse me if this is a stupid question i know nothing of programing and game development and such but...

With psp being able to update versions and whatnot... could the game be "patched" with the physics engine of that of the DS version? like WWP and WA ?

it'd require more work than would be profitable. so, i wouldnt ever count on it. there's nothing wrong with the psp version of the game so far as making it completely unplayable. even if there were, i dont know what kind of provision there is for, as wormetti pointed out earlier i believe, making patches/exes able to be downloaded by the psp. it would pose quite a security risk if games could bring in executables, i imagine.

The downloadable content feature built into the game is unlikely to support anything other than flags or landscapes. It would be possible to copy an update onto the memory stick and run it from the memory stick browser like you run demos and official firmware updates. Updates for PSP games are very rarely released and even rarer from relatively small companies like Team17, so I wouldn't expect anything.

yeah i suppose that makes sense...

just didnt know if it would require too much work to patch the engine on it to me more like the DS... talking to a few people i havnt heard anyone say they like the physics engine on the psp better than the ds one so thats why i was wondering if it would be a positive step to make that a downloadable patch...

only thing i cant get over is the backwards jump (O_o) if u land on the edge of a piece of land it bounces u back off =/ just takes getting used to i suppose.

precisely. the difficulty of releasing such an update is that you cannot run a program without a certificate*. and to get the certificate you have to have it approved by sony, which is the same costly approval process that you need to certify the game in the first place. so as people have said, it is not cost beneficial in most cases.

and yes, i did not like the new physics either. maybe it wouldn't be as bad if i haven't been playing worms since w2 release, but as it is, it just doesn't feel right.

* unless you are running hacked firmware, of course.

i just think that a game with lots of problems to be solved is not a finished game.. what were they doing in testing phase? we payed for the game, and we want to be heard! there are issues, so please do something! and i recall lots of games having successful updates, like "killzone: liberation". so pardon my french :D all i want to say is - it would be a lot better game. a legend :D and im talking about quitters and buddy list freezes too.

PS
+ i know this game is more popular than mentioned, "killzone: liberation", so how's that they CAN afford to patch, and team17 can't?

Sony care a lot more about Killzone than Worms. After Killzone 2 on PS2, Sony purchased Guerrilla Games, so it's more than just a 3rd party title to Sony. 1st (2nd?) party developers usually get much higher budgets and better treatment than 3rd party developers.

and i recall lots of games having successful updates, like "killzone: liberation"

That's one game and it's not a 3rd party title. I would like to see an update but it's not realistic to think it will happen.

ofcourse it will not happen. but like i said, only so that when they publish wow3, they could say: ... we "fixed" the network problems! buy the game! spend your money!
