I know that it uses your aliases unless playing with friends. But when you run in to a friend randomly during a ranked match does it use your real names or your aliases?

I'm almost positive it uses aliases, even if they're on your friends list. I've had a couple ranked and random matches against friends, and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, which means it probably showed aliases.

it most definitely did show aliases (not real names) the other night when i played a ranked game vs FeXd, who's in my friends list.

Yup, confirmed. I've never seen my "real names" displayed in an online game, vs Rivals or Friends.
