I don't understand what these mean? and is the higher number better or worse (for example with maggie's drawers, does a high number mean you miss a lot or a little bit)?

Hard Cases
It's a measure of kill rate: if you win, you're awarded points for despatching your opponent as fast as possible. More points for fewer turns.

Valiant Failures
If you don't win, you're given points for being close to victory. More points for a very narrow defeat.

Well, yes and no. Yes, because it means you get more points, but no, because it means you missed lots.
