Even if they are making it, they won't be able to comment this early. Ask again next year.

Yes, there's a good possibility of a W:OW3. THQ seem to have gotten quite fond of the 2D worms games.

Just fix the few problems with WOW2 first and then create WOW3. WOW2 is probably the best worms game ever created it's even better than original Worms.

Something I worry about with WOW3, is that the online community will be split between 2 games, making it harder to find a match...When Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne came out, the Reign of Chaos servers were left empty whilst everyone migrated.

WOW3 shouldn't be coming out for at least another two years, if any.

i don't see them coming out with wow3. there only needs to be one wow game for portables, and they have it. well, they have two, but wow seems like it was more of a way to test the concept, and wow2 is what they really wanted to do with it.

there is not really any problems to fix in WOW3 aside from a few minor glitches this game is so perfect thy might not need a sequel. and the online community would be split

I don't see why a new worms game would split the community, since a new game always generates a new fanbase as well as attracting existing fans.

Plus, just think of all the great things they could add now they have the formula right...

*Obviously, new weapons, maps and sounds
*The ability to block other players (for the DS) - so we could shut out the droppers (since apparently it's impossible to tell who drops from a 2-player game due to the network design)
*The return of the 'worm placement' option, where players take turns placing their worms on the landscape before battle. It would balance out online games a lot :)
*A friends + rivals lobby, so you could see who is online (DS again)
*More options... landmine fuses, anyone? :D
*More puzzle levels... man I love those...
*Emoticons, so you could applaud or jeer your opponent whilst staying nintendo-friendly

And that's just off the top of my head. I say bring on the sequels! :D

i think WOW 2 is pretty damn good i just hope the online set up doesn't annoy me too much, but i am realising how much there is in this game besides from online. A wow3 wouldn't be necessary really.

but i've seen screen shots of wow1 and the themes and backgrounds look absolutely gorgeous with beach and surf themes. I wonder if they could ever incorporate these themes/ levels into the wow2 online world.

i would also like a chat function for the DS.

Team17 won't make any more WOW games, because they are allergic to money.

A silly argument I know, but it's on the same level as some of the other arguments against another WOW game here...

I'm sorry to say this but I hope not, I don't know why but i'm tired of W:OW games (even though there are only two.) I think team17 needs to do a diffrent style of worms, plus there's not much left to add maybe a few more things like wormpot .

I love the sound of that!

I don't excactly get what you're saying about the money thing, but I guess i'm half way with the argument against another WOW game and I don't even know why.

there is a danger of over saturating the market, resulting in negative returns on future investments of publishers, and that would be bad for the franchise.

FIFA and Madden have proved that, in practice, that doesn't happen.

it proves that in practice there are markets where it doesn't happen. on the other hand, we see a lot of people who are happily playing wa and ignoring pretty much anything new in worms.

thats because new worms games suck in comparison. yes there are good portable games but they are only good because there is no portable version of W:A.

any game newer then W:A besides WWP, is 3D and not anything like the 2d games.

Worms XBLA Worms Open Warfare 1 and 2

we were talking about pc.

franpa, that's right. and i'm sure that one of the reasons why there were no new 2d games on pc is that publishers didn't want one. and they didn't want one because even with wwp, everyone still plays wa, and it would be very difficult to change with any new release. it would have to really deliver and run the network flawlessly to get people shifted over.

That comes to a grand total of... two 3D games. Gee wizz!
That's not including any spinoffs, wich as Worms Aqua, Worms Blast or Worms Forts.

No, Street Fighter proved that it does (sadly enough, as I love Capcom fighting games). Madden and FIFA are bad examples, as team rosters change every year, and the games take advantage of that and of the fact that people always want to play as current teams.

I want to see W:OW3 too, but it's unreasonable to ask for it or expect it soon. Have fun with W:OW2 for the time being.

i think there shouldn't be a wow3 because as said before it would split the community
but there must definitely be a patch to get rid of the bugs and glitches in online game.
if they put some new stuff in there that is not really necessary for online gameplay (such as campagin, etc.) they could even require a little money for that.
if they make too drastic changes eg new weapons they have to be availible too for those who dont have the patch

That still doesn't take away the fact that nearly everyone who has WOW2 would get WOW3 and play that instead...

i think u dont really get what i mean ^^
the communtiy would definetly would split up because many people wont buy the new one, or does everybody has M33???

i think the split of the starcraft comm. wouldnt be so bad because SCII would also get many many new players, but W:OW2 is already hardly played by anybody do that would be bad

unforunately Parcley told me that they wont make a patch for the psp to fix the bugs and glitches :(

Squirminator2k
24 Apr 2008, 22:51
I think it's safe to say that the only people who wouldn't buy WOW3 are the ones who didn't like WOW2. I don't consider that much of a "split" to be honest.

DopeBoss

no thats often so that people think "the new game is not much better then the old, then i buy this and save money" and i think it would be the same with wow3
i mean all pro gamers & stuff they would definitely get the new one, but they are unfortunately a small percentage off all the players

Yes, that's a good point, unless the game is much different, such as WOW to WOW2.

i mean all pro gamers & stuff they would definitely get the new one, but they are unfortunately a small percentage off all the players
You're the first new guy here to say that since Martyn Brown said it himself, coming up to the release of Worms: A Space Oddity. Bravo!

Command & Conquer 3 is just like the original, only it has better actors in it and nicer graphics. There's very little new stuff. People bought it anyway.
