View Full Version : I was just in the worst ranked match ever...

What makes me mad is that the scheme chosen gave us only 2 blowtorches, as far as damage causing items go. only 5 weapons were dropped per round. it was pretty much impossible to kill anyone before sudden death. Also, the mass of starting ninja ropes, jetpacks, and teleports means that whoever's turn it is when the box drops will get it. The only was to win really is to grab some weapons and wait for sudden death. This is extremely time consuming. The first game we wasted all our weapons thinking they would continue to fall. They didn't. We then stacked our worms on the highground and by some miracle one of his lived. I won the second and third rounds by saving my wepons. I feel bad for the other guy though. The game lasted over an hour, it wasn't fun at all, AND he lost. but he was a nazi, so i dont really care.

ok first of all, isn't Nazi a little racist. Second, i played the same scheme i had some fun after i picked up a donkey and the other team surrendered

well none of the 5 crates had a donkey. I would enjoy the scheme if more then 5 crates would spawn. But they just stopped. Then it gets boring.

Also, he was a nazi. his picture was the swastika. I am not racist for calling him a nazi, he is a racist for being a nazi.

Any scheme with large numbers of (or unlimited) ninja ropes and/or jetpacks is just awful.

I'll play through the games when I encounter them, but I hate it with a passion. People need to be a little more creative.

The ninja ropes / jetpacks dont bother me too much, its just that it is IMPOSSIBLE to be finished without sudden death, a ton of luck, or an incredibly stupid opponent. (someone who places all their worms near the edge and kills some of their own worms). It surprises me that anyone expects us to play these kinds of games. at the very least, we should get boxes that spawn the whole game.

BTW the swastika isn't only used by Nazis. It's also a Buddhist symbol, often displayed by Korean players (at least in other games). You can usually tell the difference by the direction it faces though and if the player has a worm named Hitler or something.

the swastika was used by the Buddhists, Hindus, and the Jains long before it was a Nazi symbol. the Nazi swastika is supposed to sit on its corner, like a diamond - but some angsty preteen neo-Nazis exercise ignorance and sit it flat like a square.

Yeah, what Wormetti said. I can even type one in Japanese fonts (like this - 卍). Some Buddhist swastikas are clockwise like the Nazi ones though, so even there, you can't be positive. After all, it was borrowed from the East as a popular symbol of luck in the early 20th century, and the Nazis borrowed it from the Aryans of India (and I can only assume Buddhists got it from the same place). Anyway, if it's a diagonally-mounted clockwise black swastika on a circular white field with a red background, then you can be almost positive it's supposed to be a Nazi swastika.

But even there, IMO, you have to remember that this is Worms: Open Warfare, and it contains a WWII theme and so on. Some people might make a Nazi team just to give the impression of being a particularly nasty team or something to that effect, so I don't think you can necessarily judge the person playing.

Edit: I personally use a Japanese naval ensign for my main team, which is seen as evil to a lot of Chinese and Koreans (even though it's still used by the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense forces). The fact that I use it doesn't mean I think it's a good idea to play catch with Chinese babies on bayonets though. I guess there are three reasons that I use it: the fact that I live in Japan (for the time being, at least...), the war theme, and the simple opinion that it's a cool-looking flag.

Swastikas aside, I still don't see why we have to play against lady luck with 2 blow torches and random crates. Give me Bazookas and grenades any day, and let the better man win.

I didn't realize the other things a swastika represents. I guess there's a chance that he was one of those other things, but his picture resembled the nazi swastika, not the others.

Anyways, this thread isnt about whether or not he was really a nazi. its about the terrible scheme.

Well, the scheme in question has only TWO blowtorches, if I remember correctly, so it makes little sense, even as a darkside scheme.

Yea, I just played that. 5 weapon drops and you only have 2 blowtorches. Retarded.

We had a draw one round (cluster bomb killed him) so it went on to 4 rounds. Thanks to this thread, I knew to save my weapons so a holy hand grenade gracefully concluded the hour long fight and bumped me to rank 9.

i had that too. First round; two of my weapon crates were boomerangs. But when sudden death came, i had 4 worms, he had 3. I fell onto his guys and the coffen explosion killed his guys :D. Then at end of second game, when i nearly won, he disconnected

Ah, you played Zeke as well, huh? Since you have to choose random names for your worms, "Hitler's" exceedingly unlikely since it's not in the list. However, he did choose Nazi/Aryan-themed names like, "Viking," and, "Boot."

Considering the coloring, I'm thinking it was some juvenile **** trying to be offensive.. then again, maybe it's the WWII theme. Anyway, I ended up beating him without too much difficulty. Maybe it was one of his first times, but he was probably the fifth worst player I've faced (And I'm pretty mediocre, hovering around 70th place).

That flag is terrible! I can draw a much better swastika!

Not that I've had practice, or anything...

*coughs*

Moving swiftly on, I've not had this scheme yet, I keep getting intermediate (Or something similar) so lucky me! I don't know what I'd do if it came up though, try and suicide his worms, I guess!

Jump, fall, slide, and take them with me!

Don't worry, I was gonna say the same thing, JammyAH. That's one ugly swastika.

Nazi stuff aside, I've played this scheme as well. I was told that the schemes are predetermined and randomly chosen by Team17. If this is true, I have no idea why they would choose such a boring scheme.

I actually played that scheme too

To be honest, the first round was great fun
5 crates dropping in about 10 turns. Showed skill in how quickly you could get to the crate, and depending on how fast you were, and how close an ideal target was, made things interesting

Unfortunately, after those 5 crates dropped, nothing else did for the entire round.

The round ended with a tie, since we bunched all our worms together to the very peek, and the 6 remaining worms all drowned at once.

I don't really have a problem with this game type, but please make sure crates spawn continuously. That dry patch ruined the round.

Also for the love of crap, remove "The full wormage" from ranked games. I loth those ranked games with a passion.
