Got the game -- loving it! But...

I've had a couple of folks disconnect from me -- I'd see one of their worms wave a white flag, it'd tell me I was the victor, then something to the effect of "one or more players has disconnected" -- yet I've never disconnected myself. But when I checked my stats, it lists me as having a number of disconnects. Anyone know what that's all about?

I believe that when it is only a 2 player game, the server cannot determinte accurately who left which results in both players being given the disconnect.

(Also, great game just now. Rather spooky that I should read this thread then search and find you!)

:D

Ha, ha! Hey, hey, man! I added you to my rivals list -- not sure if you got the little mail icon. But yeah, good match. I was so ****ed off. To be perfectly honest, I should have won both of those first rounds, but I screwed myself. GRrh! :p

Does Cyclaws have to accept you as a rival, for him to appear on your list Geekydad? Just out of interest. As some people I've added as rivals, don't appear in my list...or perhaps I quit too early; before they had the chance to accept...

I would like to know whether somebody has disconnected due to a network error, or because they turned off their DS. Surely, the fact the game calls the person still in the game (The Victor), means that the game CAN tell who should earn the disconnect. I seem to drop ranks daily. I was 700 two days ago, now I'm 900+.

Not sure. Perhaps one of the guys from the development team can chime in on that. But I would think so.

I think I do, yeah. I must have missed it though, because you're not on my rivals list.

Yes, both players need to add each other to their rivals list in order for the other player to show up in the list.

That's a shame if true -- so far I don't have any disconnects but I'm sure they will happen.

Oh well - not like this will ruin my enjoyment of the game (or will it)? :p

O my oh my...LOL! And everytime that has happened, I was thinking to myself: "wow those ppl are fair afterall, instead of quiting they just surrender" xD Guess my winning stats aren't that high afterall ;D

Yes, both players need to add each other to their rivals list in order for the other player to show up in the list.

So how can you tell when both people have added each other? Will eah player see the mail icon? Or will they see mail icons for both themselves and the other player on the screen?

So how can you tell when both people have added each other? Will eah player see the mail icon? Or will they see mail icons for both themselves and the other player on the screen?

At the "Players" screen (at the end of a Nintendo WFC match), you can click one of the other players in the match to request a rivalship. The other player then gets the mail icon from you. If the player clicks on that, he will see the rivalship request, and can choose to accept or decline. If he accepts, you will be added to his rivals list, and he will be added to yours. To indicate this, the player's name will be highlighted in red, instead of white. However, if the other player declines, you won't see any change.

So in other words, the rivalship is always initiated by one player, and either accepted or declined by the other side. Both sides need to agree before anything is established (much like how the friend codes work).

Great explanation Paul_TT and I'll now look for their name to turn red before I leave a game.

Yes, both players need to add each other to their rivals list in order for the other player to show up in the list.

Is this the same for friends? How does this work, say, if I add player A to my friends list, does he then know about it before or after he adds me as well?

Aaand, if I change my online name, will it affect my rivalships?
