I figured this would be a good thread to start.

I like customizing games and making my stuff right purdy, so naturally, I had to make the best custom flag designs I could. I'll post my stuff after this, but first, some info...

For those who would like to make their own flags from graphics you have on your PC, here's the method I personally used (pasted, with slight modification, from another thread):
1) Convert your source image to the correct palette (below).
2) Convert the image type back to 24 bit (16.7 million colors). This is done so that the next step will produce good results.
3) Resize the picture to 24X24 (NDS) or 32X32 (PSP) using bilinear or bicubic resampling. It might be necessary to crop the image, distort the image proportions somewhat, letterbox it, or some combination. You can pretty much do whatever you think looks best. :)
4) Convert it to the DS or PSP palette again (There's a reason I did it twice - the first time was so that areas of solid color would already be approximately the right colors after I resized it, and the second time was because resizing naturally blends colors together).
5) Zoom in on the image to make it huge and easy to copy by hand.
6) Copy it by hand into the editor. Sometimes it's hard to tell which color is which, so I had my palette image open as well to compare to the source using the eye dropper tool. The undo button is your friend here on the DS version. PSP users should have no problems with accuracy though.
7) Voila!

I used PNG images because different people might have different imaging software (Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, The Gimp, etc.). Just save the appropriate image, open it in your imaging app, and save the palette to a file.

And that's pretty much it. It'll be nice if/when somebody with minimal programming skills can come out with a flag design utility, but for now, this method works, for those who have the know-how.

Now feel free to show off your own stuff, whether through photos, simple designs or both. It doesn't matter if you went to all the trouble I did, just share whatever you want to share. I'm looking forward to seeing what other people have. :)

I'll probably make a proper Squirminator2k flag at some point for both versions. I'm too lazy though, and having to use the stylus to design the flat on the DS version is a little off-putting.

Yeah, you have ten slots for flags in the DS version, and you can use them with whichever teams you want. You could even use the same flag for all teams, if you wanted to.

Yeah, the PSP palette is way better, IMO.
The PSP version seems to have (nearly) real greys too, rather than the bluish greys we're stuck with.

Oh well, we shall have to take comfort in Lab mode ;)

presumably DS users can use the stylus to draw their flag? What is that like is it easy? Cos its really hard to do anything decent on the psp.

The stylus is kind of hard to use but people seem to manage it. The DS version doesn't support d-pad for placing pixels, so it's harder to copy an image in my opinion.

I just like green.

I like purple more, but a) it's not really a background colour, b) there's no purple in the DS palate and c) it's already been established in various sigworm drawings that the walls of my "lab" are painted green.

I'm happy to have the DS version. Sure, there's no purple but there are lots of zombie skin tones. Mwahahahahaaa.

Here's my flag. It's Finnish Defense Forces badge used mostly in front of military hats. It's pretty basic design but I like it. :cool:

My favourite flag was in WWP, called Britworm. Using the technique at the start of this thread, has anyone tried to make a flag from WWP? I'm sure the dimensions are different, but you can change them. Anyone tried this?

I'm not too great with the touch screen, and making a flag will take me several hours :D I want to know if it'll look good before I start!

Yeah, WWP flags are 20X17 - a good bit smaller than either version of W:OW2, and the aspect ratio is different.

There are two lines of white pixels on both the bottom and the top. Not sure how good that will look in the actual game though; you might want to go all black instead.

Wish I'd read your post first though, I counted 19x16 as I forgot that MS paint uses a zero as the first value. So that means that my flag is a little off centre. Also, I didn't convert the colour pallette to a DS one, I just did it by eye... so one or two of the colours are a bit off.

But I am proud of it, so tough :D I'm now using it!

Don't have a camera but I have two flags that I alternate between.

One is the black mage from final fantasy (with a little bit of fire coming from one of his hands).

The other is Frog from Chrono Trigger leaping with his sword out.

The only way you are going to see either of these is to either get me in a random match (unlikely) or go to http://gtamp.com/worms/ hang out and get some time in there.

This image was taken using custom firmware plugins so that the colours are the exact ones i used.

I decided to do this because I am a huge Shadow the Hedgehog fan. This was done on psp using a sprite as a template.

It's the Horde flag, from World of Warcraft, if no one got it. Though I don't play anymore. Just thought it looked cool.

If you have a macro mode on your camera (usually a button, or part of the mode switch), activate that. The image is awfully blurry.

That was my cameraphone, I couldn't find my digital camera at 2 AM in the morning. If you know what the Horde logo is, it still is pretty recognizable through the blur.
