Hi does anyone know of a good flag maker for the PC. Like the Pattern Maker made for the PC for the animal crossing ds game. You upload a picture, and it automatically resizes it and colors it in each AC:WW palette. I don't think theres one out with this game only just been released but hopefully someone will make one.:)

The game has just been released, so there isn't one.

I'm thinking of starting a flag thread when I get home (I've made two flags so far), and I'll probably post a DS palette there (and maybe a PSP palette too, but my source there is one of the trailers on YouTube, so the PSP one might not be all that great).

Personally, I made my flags in Paint Shop Pro (I like Paint Shop Pro's palette functions), but it's also easily doable in Photoshop or The Gimp. I used a somewhat complicated procedure:
1) Converted my source image to the DS palette (I yoinked it from the game by somewhat underhanded and complicated means; don't ask...).
2) Converted it back to 16.7 million colors (so that the next step would produce good results).
3) Resized the picture to 24X24 (I figured that out by drawing some spaced-out black dots and counting them, heh) using bilinear resampling. It might be necessary to crop the image and/or distort the image proportions somewhat.
4) Converted it to the DS palette again (There's a reason I did it twice - the first time was so that areas of solid color would already be approximately the right colors after I resized it, and the second time was because resizing naturally blends colors together).
5) Zoomed in on the image to make it huge and easy to copy.
6) Copied it by hand into the editor. Sometimes it's hard to tell which color is which, so I had my palette image open as well to compare to the source using the eye dropper tool.
7) Voila!

Not as easy as a standalone program, but it gives better results. I used the same method for AC:WW and Mario Kart, and a test of the apps available for those games never gave as nice of results as I was able to get from a step-by-step method.

Sorry if this isn't very helpful. I'm not a programmer, but maybe when I post the palette image, some kind soul can work it out from there.
