Dream17 now has the Worms Open Warfare 2 boxart up for viewing, courtesy of the lovely chaps at THQ's PR department. Click for larger images:

I've just noticed, the DS version is given a 7+ rating while the PSP version is only a 3+...

Edit: Boxart updated, PSP version is now 7+.

d, the DS version is given a 7+ rating while the PSP version is only a 3+...

If the DS version has a rating of 3.5 for each screen then it would total 7. Simple.

The low res boxart on THQ's public site (http://www.thq-games.com/uk/game/2221) says 7+ for both games.

And THQ have updated the Press Site version of the PSP boxart as well. I'll upload the updated version to Dream17.

The age-rating stuff tends to come in late, so my guess is that it was placeholder.

That box art is sweet! Now only if there was a U.S version.

US version is identical apart from "TEEN" rating I think (maybe 10+) I can't recall... anyway it will have a simultaneous US/Europe launch.

Woo, we southies are gonna get the big ugly blue PG sign of doom.

By the way, is poor old Australia included in this simultaneous launch? If it isn't I'll cry. ;_;

Great box art then!:D (unless it's suddenly changed for the U.S version.)Also, is the game coming out simultaneously across the world? Please let it be july for U.S.

Yeah, DSs are 99% region free (I think there was an issue with US Brain Age vs JP DS Lites), and PSP games are region free.

Multiplayer from different regions doesn't always work. Bear that in mind. However most games released after 2006 are compatible.

oh yeah, I forgot about that.

But that's countered by the PSP'S movies being region specific

Spadge

How are the movies region specific?

Darkspark

Spadge, I think he means that some sony UMD movies are region locked.

UMD movies have died a horrible death.
Why would you pay for a low quality encoded movie rip, when you can do it perfectly well for free, at little cost for a movie you already own; then stick it on a memory stick?

I'm not such a big fan of that boxart.. To me it seems a bit... amature :-/ At least compared to the previous boxarts!

The game looks sweet though ;)

I think it's the worlm at the front with the boomerang. If you cover him up it looks a lot better. But yeah, that worms not as good as some of the stuff in the Fan Art forum. (Although still better than almost all of it.)

Never thought about that, but you're right. When I took a closer look he seems disconnected with the ground. Doesn't look like he's standing on it. Just hoovering over the ground.

Nice typo ;)

It looks alright to me,

I would've been fine if it was just a black background with the Worms Open Warfare 2 logo in middle followed by the Nintendo, THQ, and PEGI ESRB logos.

I like it! I just sorta wish they used the older sort of worms. You know, the ones of WWP?

Darkspark
20 May 2007, 22:08
Its funny, the worms on the boxart have that arrogant look which is translated in the PSP version.

The DS version has the worms looking all cute and cuddly, based on released screenshots.

It might seem a little detail, but has a huge impact on the impression the game gives off to players.

What the Hell are you talking about? The worms in WOW2 DS look damn near identical to the Worms in the PSP version of WOW1, save for some antialiasing around the edges.

Luther

Its the same worm in the DS and PSP versions of WOW2. The way we get them on screen is different, but the source art is the same. The only visual differences are down to the lower resolution and lack of filtering with the DS. We've used some tricks to overcome these restrictions and I think the results are excellent.
