View Full Version : Same levels in different difficulty modes !?

Hi,

I just bought this lemmings game for my PSP, and find that the remake is very well done, while staying true to the original.

However, I found it strange that the "We all fall down" level is included in the Easy mode as well as on another difficulty level. If I remember correctly, it was not part of the easy mode at all in the original game!

While continuing to play, I discovered several other levels that are also included in the other difficulty modes. I've been up to Easy - level 18 and have already found 5 levels that are part of other difficulty modes!
Could anyone enlighten me as to why this has been done?

Of course, it's a clever way to increase the level count in each difficulty level, but other than that... I can't seem to find the reason.

That's how it was in the original. Some levels were duplicated the further you got into the game. The gameplay of the level changed in most cases, but graphically they were the same...

1: If I recall correctly, there were 4 "we all fall down" levels in the origional, and one of them was in Easy.
2: In the origional, you can notice that the level layouts tends to repeat itself after the level "menacing".
3: I think the level graphics were duplicated for levels to be more fun.

OK, thanks for your replys!

I guess memory does that to you as time passes ;)

All in all, thanks for reviving this great game, and I hope to see either "Oh no more lemmings" or "Lemmings 2" ported either to PSP or to the PC soon!

1: I think "Lemmings for Windows 95" is still on sale. You get the origional Lemmings and the Oh No More Lemmings games on that. (but not as good graphically as Team17's version)
2: There's a good chance of Lemmings2 being made, but it may not neccesarely be for PSP.

Wow, where did you get your insider information regarding point 2? This would be great!

Regarding point 1, I still have my original DOS CD's, which play perfectly under DOSBox, the only drawback to this version is that I always have to start from the beginning, because I keep losing my codes :(

[EDIT]Oh, and BTW, knowing that we can build custom levels in Lemmings, what would be the implications if somebody recreated the Oh No! levels using the supplied editor?

That they had too much free time on their hands.

Head down to the studio with a galleon of Budweiser and you'll find out everything they have planned.

Nah, I'm just kidding. I just predicted that Point2.

I cracked at that... maybe the lack of sleep... But... meh... funny :p

Also, if they made Lemmings2... I hope they make last level... when I played it, and saw that the arc was... nothing but the end... It was a bit frustrating... I was expecting something like a final super level (a big one, you know :p) for each tribe, or something...

If you ever do it... make some extras there :p

A galleon of Budweiser? As in, a big ship load?

Looking at your avatar, Kilburn, I reckon there'd be a few members of Team17 staff that would like to have a big ship load of Bud pull up outside the office ;)

And this probes that if a member of team 17 enters a thread about a game, and hears about beer, he WILL forget about the game.

There's no waterway from Budějovice to Ossett. It could get quite expensive to transport a whole galleon.

Wait, why are we still talking about that?
If someone managed to get a boatful of beer, which are they gonna do?

a: Bring it to Team17, so they can find out all their plans for future games
or
b: Drink it all themselves

Team 17 will smell it from England, come, and drink it all in front of you...

And I think they would love to make a beer subforum in online orgy for conversations like this one...

Can I just interject here and suggest that maybe half a boatful of Stella would be better than a boatful of Budweiser?

Aside from anything else, it would float.

Interestingly, the Fun version of We All Fall Down is randomly cut from the W95 version of the game.

(Going off-topic by going on-topic! Fun, that)

Actually Lemmings for Windows 95 misses out levels at a whim. We noticed, whilst playing the game on two separate PCs, that different levels were missing between the two. Looks like a glitch of sorts (although the Beast/BeastII/Menace levels are missing intentionally).

Nothing to do with Team17, though. So... yeah, rather off-topic. Well done Paul!

with levels repeating on different difficulties did they change what options where availible? like how many of each type of action you had availible?

Yes.

Would have been pretty poor if you got the same options (i.e. it would be no harder) :)
