(I'm baaack...)

Alright, I've been able to run W4 just fine before, but now...

When I start the game via the launcher, I get a black screen, and then the game goes back to desktop without any error messages. Not only that, my CPU usage goes to 100% and I'm unable to do anything. Even opening the start menu takes 15 minutes and I'm forced to shut down the computer manually, by turning off the power supply.

After I finally managed to shut down and restart the computer, the W4 disk inside the DVD drive was so hot that it burned my hands. I wouldn't be suprised if it had melted :p

My computer specs:

2.93 Ghz Intel P4 Processor
1024mb Ram
Ati X700 pro 256mb videocard (Overclocked, latest 6.5 Catalyst drivers)
SB Audigy 4 soundcard (latest drivers)

The thing is, I was able to run W4 just fine before, with older drivers (6.4). Now, the game completely refuses to run with newer drivers.
What's the point? :-/
Does anyone else with an Ati videocard have the same problem?

EDIT; Here's the log file. Usually it's much longer, and this "AutoDeleteOutofDateSaveGame" sounds suspicious...this has never happened before.

Please help, I'd like to play W4 again. And I don't want to go back to older drivers. :(

I had a similar problem once with my NVIDIA card and the video capturing software Magix Video on CD/DVD. After I updated the driver, it messed up the capturing and my Computer completely broke down just like yours, Magix used the CPU completely and I had to use the reset button.

I went back to the old driver and everything was fine. Fortunately NVIDIA brings out new drivers very often. The next driver did the job again.
I don't know about ATI, but the BETA drivers for NVIDIA cards come out new every few days. So maybe there is a new (BETA) driver from ATI out there already that fixes that problem. If you don't want to go back, you could try that.

Hmm, now that I think of it...I'm not sure if this is the new driver's fault...

I remember there being someone with a similiar problem who also had the "1760 | AutoDeleteOutOfDateSaveGame" line on the log file...

So is my savegame corrupted or something?

I've got that line too, only with a different number.
I don't have any problems with the game.
I guess it just means, that the old savegame is updated.
