If you have a long time for each turn it's useful. then you can fly around for the whole turn without wasting more then one icarus potion instead of a lot of jetpacks.

It's more skill-based than the jetpack due to the rythmic tapping method of flying but it's more powerful as it lasts the whole turn.
EDIT: Damn, beaten to it. :p

It is extremely darksider to use it.
E.g Drops holy hand grenade on someone and is able to fly away with wings.

You can do it with a jetpack too, and I like jetpacks.

But when you try to drop a HHG from a jetpack, you lose the jetpack...

Yes, that's right. Argue amongst yourselves. Mwa ha ha. Anyway, Icarus was a Greek Legend. They tried it on 'Braniac:History Abuse'. It didn't work. Then again, I don't think attaching a cape to a sheep helps it to fly. I'll have to try it.

it does if they came from crypton. :p
I do like the icarus potion. Haven't quite gotten the hang of it just yet, But i think that's the great thing about it, it's not as easy to controle as jetpack, and i think t17 wanted a skill weapon to get you around the map, (like 2D had with rope).

I'm a darksider. I don't like skill. darksiders PREFER strategy over skill, but if you don't have any skill, you can be as dark as you like, you're still not gunna be a good player :p a true darksider creates a skill of his own, and in 3D, being a darksider is a skill in itsself.
as far as the i pot goes, I gotta say it's more useful than anything else is, as long as you're not worried about speed. with it, you can touch down, walk through a tunnel or something, and fly off again, without having to worry about losing ammo. you can also save yourself if you walk off a cliff on accident or something, which you can't do with the jp. the i pot is slow, but it's unlimited, and far more versatile. I think both the jp and ipot are very useful utilities, and they both have advantages in different situations.
personally, I prefer the ipot simply because I find it more fun to use.

You can do that with a jetpack. I think it's just something team 17 put in to add extra difficulty to some missions. By the way, r u callin me a coward, not a darksider?

Well, i thank Team17 for putting it in for two reasons
1. My sig :p
2. Ability to fly over waters if you already used your jetpack
I sometimes got stuck on an island where i already used my jetpack and the AI level 5 just shot over a cave right in my face the whole time, so i flew over the water and just smashed him into the water with my bat
So it is usefull!

Couldn't you do that with a jp, 2?
I almost never use the jetpack now. Icarus rules!
BuffaloKid

How so, vmanc?
Well, there's no fuel and there's no fall damage to worry about. The rythm thing is easy if you just press jump really fast from the start. Oh, and I find the new jetpack harder to use than the one in Worms 3D. I also keep sliding off the edge of the terrain after I land.

The IP is too slow. It wastes the whole turn.
Well you have a point there. But anyway, the levels aren't that big. If you put it on 90 seconds you won't have that problem. And even if you put it on 40 or 30, you won't be trying to get to the other side of the level in that timelimit would you.

I could do it faster with a jet pack. This is like that annoying discussion I was forced into: Cruise vs Plane

It cures poison. I haven't the faintest idea how to do the thing with the wings (I think my record is about four flaps), but curing poison is nifty enough for me.

Didn't know that. I'll remember that from now on, if an evil opponent turns off health crates and then poisons me!

The JetPack seems to have a heights limit. You can't reach the towertop in DM4 with the jetpack. It just stops going higher at a certain height.
The Icarus Potion however can take you up there. Plus: You can fly around longer.

He may not have been, but I am. If you don' like skill (of some sort) then, your not darksider.

He may not have been, but I am.
Don't you think thats a mite hypocritical?
But yea, darksiders can have skill, there is no rule saying they can't.
And also, I just can't get the Icarus rythem right, so I tend to steer clear unless I have to use it.

I do have skill with the super sheep I throw from my lair in the darkness.
Super Sheep are easy to control. The Icarus Potion requires more skill.

Just so you know, I've found use (and skill) with the IP now. I still prefer the Jetpack.
Also if you have used your jetpack and you dont more left, but you have an I pot then its also usefull..
You could also come in an online match where theres no jp, but x I pots.. Then you should really learn to use them.. Or else, it sucks to be you =9

Some people like Jetpack, others like Icarus Potion. Discussion over.

Yes, yes, I get it now. Ever since that fateful day I lost Erm, I d'no from my Super Sheep Club team because of a not quite far enough reaching JetPack in No Room for Error, I have made a point of using IPs.

The icarus potion is slower, but can be used more than once in a go. It also requires rythym, and can heal poison.
The jetpack is faster and different (imo easier) to use, but has limited fuel.

from what I know... its much harder to control the jetpack in worms 4 compare to worms 3D... besides, the potion is easy to learn... I can flap around the whole map until time run out without falling even once~~~ if you want to be a darksider so much, just go sun-tan yourself.... if you dont have the time, just buy black paint and paint yourself!!! lol!! :)

Yeah, it *can* take you up there, but only if you're godly with the timing. If you're anything below that, you can only get a few flaps off of the ground. I've done maybe 5 or 6, and I'm pretty good at these kinds of things, normally...with my luck, I'd almost get there, be one flap short, botch it, and splat/splash.
But when you try to drop a HHG from a jetpack, you lose the jetpack...
you could drop a holy hand grenade from a ninja rope.

icarus potion is easy to use, and once you're high and lose the rhythm you can easily get it back

Would have probably let this one slip, but the bump didn't really seem worthy...
and it's been bumped twice.
