Look, my sigworm acts like a brainless moron most of the time on any comic. Gardy's nails the personality I thought of, not too talkative, a bit fool, but active, while Super Frea puts me a step further, and makes me almost totally retarded. (A bit more than I thought, but nothing to really complain... Except that drawings don't eat bricks, but oh well)

Anyways, the point is: I'm not offended at all. I don't even go around asking for a bit of "respect" or anything. Let them think whatever they want. As long as I don't annoy anyone, I don't see a reason to modify my posting manners. You can think I'm insane, stupid or whatever

Right, enough of this stupid spam from Shadowmoon & co. The next person who posts something in this thread which is not relevant to Akuryou13's art will receive the prized "Persistent Fanart Forum spam" infraction - a 14 day ban from the forum.

Incidentally, replying to this post to "agree" or whatever will be deemed spam.

ok, I have 2 plot comics today since I just need to get the story going and I can't think of any funny way to do it. so here's the mildly amusing plot comics for now and the actually funny strips will continue after these 2.

It's kinda weird how Aku and Paul.Power both only have one visible eye, yet their eye looks as big as usual.
The coloring is nice and plastic-y, but I feel like the skin tone's dark areas are a little too dark. It just seems off. EXPERIMENT!
Also, the white eyes have blue shading. That only happens when there's a bright blue sky shining ambient blue light on stuff. It wouldn't happen in... uh... Darkredvoidistan.

ANYWAY, Zero looks friggin fantastic in every way. KUDOS.

picked up a cartoon drawing book based off a suggestion from Melon (this book kicks ass, btw, Melon. you rock!) and it does a very nice job of suggesting how to draw character to express their personalities. I'm going to do my best to apply the teachings of this book to my worms as well as human drawings. the next picture I post in this thread will almost definitely be an example of what I've learned and should there-fore be a slightly different style in at least the face of the worms. I'll see what I can come up with.

so apparently I'm going to do a forum group pic with the knowledge I'm gaining from this art book. you should expect to see cartoony expressions, poses, and facial features as I go through the chapters. the first section was facial structure and going through it I learned to draw old people, girls, and teenagers, which were things I didn't know how to do before. this is the first segment of lineart displaying one of each of those and also paul:

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4423/forumgroupnv8.jpg

and don't bother requesting. I intend to go through the character profile thread and draw everyone I can think of.

It really is a superb book. My drawing ability skyrocketed after I got it, but that's probably because my drawing so poor before. It's actually put me off of drawing worms because I can't apply a lot of the stuff about bodies to them.

Is the mask on the old worm there actually resting on the inside of his lower jaw? Genius.

EDIT: In case anybody is interested, you can see a preview of the book here (http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=6jA9Bb5ClhgC&dq=action!+cartooning&pg=PP1&ots=Scf2pnFkL8&sig=W7M6F0EHKg0hvQFnrllnLDefoFM&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result). I made this to practice facial structures, body types and basic line-art. I succeeded in meeting my goal for the pic, and adding that much shading would be more work than is really worth to make this image not much better.

First of all, the pupils are ridiculously large and far too detailed compared to everything else in the pic. The size of the ones in your short-lived comic were far more appropriate.

As for the body/faces, I think you've pretty much nailed that, so it'd be easier to just name the ones that aren't so good.
Thnikk: Unless I'm missing something such as that he's actually gone crazy, you shouldn't have pupils that are looking completely different ways, except for being cross-eyed or in rare occasions anti-cross-eyed.
Slick: ....what the heck happened with that? I presume you were trying to attempt some sort of male model look, but that end result was atrocious!
Shadowmoo/an (the one with the glasses, not the yellowshirt): His head is too out of proportion. Mostly because worms don't have skulls, so the top half of their head shouldn't be so big compared to the bottom.
On related matters, I'm now beginning to consider that perhaps I should think about not mixing up Shadowman and Shadowmoons' names. Mabye.

My sigworm wasn't supposed to be coloured at all (paper white color), and the pupils look too detailed... it's a badly drawn worm, after all, so a pair of dots should do the trick. Keep The Good Workkeep the good work? you think I should NOT post any good art here, then?

First of all, the pupils are ridiculously large and far too detailed compared to everything else in the pic. The size of the ones in your short-lived comic were far more appropriate.the ones in the comic were unmanagably small. they didn't look good for any expressions other than the ones in the actual comic. in order to show certain emotions you have to cover a portion of the pupil with the eyelid. doing that was nearly impossible with the tiny pupils. the result was the character either looking up into the sky or down at their feet without ever moving their heads.

Thnikk: Unless I'm missing something such as that he's actually gone crazy, you shouldn't have pupils that are looking completely different ways, except for being cross-eyed or in rare occasions anti-cross-eyed.that would be pikkul. I could be mistaken on the red eyes thing for him, but the green is definitely him.

Slick: ....what the heck happened with that? I presume you were trying to attempt some sort of male model look, but that end result was atrocious!you've completely missed the point! congratz!

remember splapp's version? the super sexy stud-muffin that was so attractive he'd looped back to horrible? I was going for the same sort of thing, and based on what I'm looking at and .Jet's reaction, I'd say I hit that look right on the head.

Shadowmoo/an (the one with the glasses, not the yellowshirt): His head is too out of proportion. Mostly because worms don't have skulls, so the top half of their head shouldn't be so big compared to the bottom.shadowman. and his head isn't out of proportion, he's unattractive. big difference. just because he isn't pretty doesn't mean what i was going for wasn't achieved. I probably should have made him taller to emphasize the scrawny look I was going for, but the head shape isn't misproportionate.

and yes, worms DO have skulls. without a skull the worms wouldn't be able to have faces, much less facial features or expressions. your point is invalidated here because you're only talking about shadowman when paul and grim's heads are ginormous.

My sigworm wasn't supposed to be coloured at all (paper white color), and the pupils look too detailed... it's a badly drawn worm, after all, so a pair of dots should do the trick. The eyebrows could do as a scribbly little cloud, but fantastic work, overall! I don't know if this should be with perspective, but it doesn't seem to megardy simply has small, wizened hands. no matter what they'd look smaller, but tal's hands are a tad large. if you think it's big enough a deal I can just shrink them a bit, I just didn't bother as it didn't look BAD to me, it just looked like he had large hands :p

Also, it looks off-balance the way it's leaning.he's meant to be angular, so that's probably your stick comment. not sure what you mean on the height:width and it doesn't at all look off balance. whatsoever. I can see that pretty clearly.

Nice tutorial though.it's probably work in a bunch of other programs as well. photoshop for sure. others most likely as well. the main part that makes that stuff look good is the fact that it's set as Linear Dodge with glows around it. any program that can do those 2 things can do what I do in terms of effects.

I'm being picky, but there are two things that aren't right though - the sword looks a bit... flat and plain (compared to the detail on everything else), but that's not too bad.
The blood splatter on his clothes though...
The clothes have folds in them, with shadows. The blood splatter is just flat and doesn't really merge with the background cloth.
I am being critical though, otherwise it's good.

I'm being picky, but there are two things that aren't right though - the sword looks a bit... flat and plain (compared to the detail on everything else), but that's not too bad.the sword isn't anything I can fix. it's more of an angle thing. the blade is what's pointing toward the viewer, and so the flat side wouldn't show up at all.

The blood splatter on his clothes though...
The clothes have folds in them, with shadows. The blood splatter is just flat and doesn't really merge with the background cloth.
I am being critical though, otherwise it's good.that is just more work than I felt like doing :p the blood is layered below the folds and the shadows of said folds, but it doesn't show as well as it might. I COULD go back and crease the blood along the folds to make it look more realistic, but it's far more work than the effect is worth :p

I forget there's people in the world who don't get snow regularly during the winter! :confused:just about 100 miles north of me they get snow every couple years or so. it's not common, but it's not uncommon either. I, however, live about 60 miles north of the gulf of mexico, so it almost NEVER gets cold and dry enough for snow. even what we had last night was rain both before and after the actual snow, so it was only powdery and comfortable enough to be outside in it for a little while.

and btw, I now understand what sort of "cold" people in northern america get and they're all a bunch of wusses. I imagine the air on an island like britain is wet enough that you freeze like we do here, but if anyone from areas not right near water ever talk about being cold anything above 0 F I'm going to stab them :p

I counter-refuse on the fact that I am called an idiot up to ten times times a day, and it is only rational to expect an idiot to come up with stupid ideas. Such as counter-refusing. And I don't like lyers, so it's not a good idea for me to try prove them wrong.
Ergo, my request is valid.

The things that make that image awesome:
1) Me.
2) A female, and an anatomically correct one at that.
3) Foobos. Or was it Phoobos? No, I'm sure it's Foobos.

Also, is that made with a tablet? If so I'll feel unsatisfied for not having one myself.
Also post #700 is mine.

1) Me.you're welcome. you seemed like the easiest sketch to do that had some decent level of detail in a small area. congrats :p
2) A female, and an anatomically correct one at that.why thank you. Action! Cartooning ftw :)
3) Foobos. Or was it Phoobos? No, I'm sure it's Foobos.THE ALMIGHTY FOOBOS!
Also, is that made with a tablet? If so I'll feel unsatisfied for not having one myself.it was done with an Axiotron Modbook, using a basic drawing program thing that comes, presumably, with all macs. not sure of the program's name :p

The shading looks very much wrong. Mainly because the shadows don't seem to correspond to the same angles (eg: the eyebrow shadows makes it look like the light is rather high up, while the overall worm shadow makes it seem like the light is low down, close to horizontal).
Especially on the band. The way the shading is done on the top part, when compared with the outline, would only make sense if the light was actually coming from behind.

I can't seem to do anything at all with the eraser and almost nothing with the pen or pencil tools...The only options you get are shown in the bottom of the Tools panel (below the color options, they're hard to notice but they change with the tool) and in the Properties panel. Flash isn't intended as a professional art package, that's why you can import stuff from other applications. :p

Good workyeah. I agree with you on the fingers. they look funny but I can't peg it either. I assume it's just a matter of them being slightly disproportionate or something and neither of us being qualified to say how :p

the forehead is just a difference in opinion. YOURS IS WRONG

but seriously, it's just a tad large. I don't really think much of it either way. don't see why EVERYONE IS *****ING!

Great armour, and nice details on the hands, but the head looks a bit tiny for a worm

I second pyramid on the head comment. It should be a tad bigger, following the worms' cartoonish style. But then your image seems to be more serious, therefore i supose the small head is ok.

I'd have to see an unarmored worm on the same proportions to sew a more accurate comment on this.

A refining on the lineart would be a nice improvement as well.

Despite the critique, the pic is already pretty good.

I'd have to see an unarmored worm on the same proportions to sew a more accurate comment on this.I'm pretty sure he'd look like a tiny-headed mutant. either that or a bean-pole wearing the armor to compensate :p I just didn't really notice how odd it looked when I posted. ah well.
