hey now i was able to host but no one joined so i exited, but then the server disconnected, saying Apache couldnt connect to wormnet, error 61

Scratch that. The server went down again.

When someone closes the IRC connection, the server tries to send a quit message to everyone, including the person that quit. Which causes an exception in FreeBSD. Which causes the server to crash because of either FreePascal's exception handling in Linux, or FreeBSD's Linux binary emulation. It WOULD go back up instantly, only if not for sockets still staying open after the process owning them quit. Which causes the server to restart, but not being able to bind back the sockets to the local ports.

Blame FreePascal or FreeBSD Linux binary emulation (for not processing exceptions correctly), FreeBSD sockets (for not closing immediately after the process is killed), and me (for not doing anything about it).

It won't go up until ViruX wakes up (at least in 5 hours). Sorry.

I'm trying to get a server up on Lex's PC, but I'm met with resistance from bugs everywhere (including my own software that worked fine yesterday).

The server me and Lex are struggling to get up is for W:A only. Sorry.

I've found the problem and who's to blame:
When someone sends an URL with a ß in it (particularily when hosting a game), Worms sent the URL to the server unencoded (while it should have encoded it into UTF-8). Blame Deadcode or who-ever added the ß symbol and didn't think of consequences of breaking HTTP standards.

Now, even with an URL that doesn't encode international characters into UTF-8, the standards say that Apache must send the request string EXACTLY as it was sent to the server to the CGI application (PHP). Instead, it falls down on its knees and starts to cry bitterly, throwing back a "500 Internal Server Error" and mumbling about a "failed utf8 to ucs2 conversion" in its error log.
So, you can also blame the Apache developers as well.

We're trying to make PHP work as a module right now, hopefully it will behave better this way.

I would, but the bug was critical - no one could host, and that means no one could play.
As per WWP: WWP uses WormNET 2, which is quite different from WormNET 1 (used by W:A). Parts of the WormNET 2 protocol are encrypted, which means making a WormNET 2 server would take much more time.
I have no idea about Worms 2 though, since I don't have that game.

The people on Lex´s server suck a lot. They don´t let you play if they don´t
know you. No communication possible. Wait until wn is back.

i would let everyone, i only kick if to many or a person is being rude to others (but not in a joking way ;). But i dunno if also on wnet but lately i havn't been able to host but i think it was my comp and i reformatted last night so w'll see after i get all my files back i'll install worms and come :)

The wormnet ServerList.htm file you posted isn't working for me, either. I get a fatal error when trying to view the server list. Any help there?

Odd. It always worked for me. Sometimes I do get a fatal error when trying to open the serverlist, but it always works on the 2nd try.

hello first time poster.. use to play this game all the time on dream cast and forgot about the game as time went on... finally was thinking about how much i use to play this game and how fun it was so i looked for it on pc and got it... i want to paly this online but doesnt seem im able to ? can anyone help me out as like is there still a multiplayer online ? or does this game not have a multiplayer anymore for online pc since its so old?

Well...some progress but still no game...

I installed the required update version...i did that /nointro thing...

Tried to connect at UK server...it took 3 minutes, then it appeared: "Fatal error on connection, disconecting..."

What should I do? Do I have to write my IP there? I dunno if I got a proxy or firewall stuff...I use that ZoneAlarm software to avoid invasions (that already got me in the past...)

In fact I forgot to see if my Directx is updated...

Anyways, i'll keep on trying if u keep on trying helping me...=)

Yes, it's much harder to emulate a WWP server.
