What are you on about? You must be paranoid.

Paranoid? Or...

Oh, wait, there's no alternative. Paranoid it is!

That is (or was, can't be bothered to check :p) on a couple of signatures, including Iguana, AK and WormGod. :p

Semper notus
et occultus.
Iam nos advenio
ferito is malum.
Tui sceleris.
Yep, I read those sigs too.
A crappy attempt to sound clever.

Poorly translated word by word with no idea about how Latin dictionaries are built.
For example the author only uses present tense 1st person singular verbs and uses the pronoun "nos", while in Latin the conjugation of the verb identifies the person.

IIRC, it's the same people with the marshmellow avatars.
Definitely not paranoid.

SomePerson

Not to mention horrid word word order. The verb comes at the END in Latin.

I say "Iam nos advenio ferito is malum" should be "Iam hoc malum pugnāre advenīmus"

Although, in all fairness, our signature of "Kommunisticheckaya tuna vlyublyennosti kotov!" is a horrible mistranslation too, but that's the entire point.

KamikazeBananze
7 Jul 2006, 15:09
Actually, I was told that verb order was unimprotant. However, that was for my JC, not my LC. So, if I'd taken it for my last 3 years, I might have been told "Verb at end."

advenio... What form is that? It's been four years since I did latin.

Yes, you can do whatever you want with artistic license.
advenio... What form is that? It's been four years since I did latin.
As I mentioned, present tense, first person, singular. Just like verbs are listed in a Latin dictionary.

I think my favourite piece of Latin has to be "Felix Qui Potuit Regum Cocnoscere Causas", which is carved on a stone next to the Porter's Lodge at Churchill.

It actually means something like "Fortunate is he who knows the causes of events". But I prefer "You're lucky if you know what's going on".

I think it suits OD :p.

I can tell you for sure now that there's a 'secret' rebellious underground anti-OD group campaigning against our secret forum (stand back for a moment and notice the irony here...) and they're against our 'attacks' all over the forum, claiming that we do all sorts of conspiracies here with Team17 staff, and, if I understand it correctly, they made their own forum somewhere (I'm drowning in irony here) where they plan their Secret Attacks (save me :[ !!)

Yeah.

Yes, but we are rubber and they are glue.
Yes, there is a rebbel force. Lets see...I believe members such as, Psyke; Iguana; Rabble; Bucket; Cisken; Saffya; and a few others I can't remember.
From what it looks like Saffya doesnt really even give a crap.
Im sure I could find out more, but staying in there MASS convos...makes me sick.

Nah, that's wrong.

Here are some of the ones that are DEFINITELY in the anti-OD-posse:

Iguana, Alien King, Swed Simon and Splinter

Let's say I'm good at making people talk ;o

Also, they have a secret forum as their base of operations. Oh the irony.

You can probably add Dimworm (the other one) to the list, as he definately knows about OD.

Perhaps because she never comes here anymore...and if she does, she isn't very active.
And I think it's more of a matter of why would we let her join. Not that Im against her joining.

Interesting fact:

Alien_King, Cyclaws, Pilot62 and Iguana all have the same type of avatar. With the exception of Cyclaws, they all have "Location: Here." And, with the exception of Alien_King, they all have the bad Latin in their sigs.

COINCIDENCE???

Before they started this whole organization, there wasn't really any elitism or flaming going on. (Not THAT much, anyway.)
Now they get all p!$$y with us, and there's a lot more flaming going on...

*gets flashbacks*

The idiots outside of the forum can plot and attempt to prove the exsistance of the OD all they like. But by doing this it's proving how immature they are, and give us a valid reason why we don't let idiots in the OD. Yes, it may be elistist. But every forum has it's echelons eg: Moderators

They probably have the wrong idea. They obviously don't know the forum's criteria. They could have striven to be a part of it by being well-behaved or turned rebellious. Maybe if someone tells them why this place exists and why people have been allowed in they will change their attitude.

thomasp
22 Jul 2006, 19:10
I'm still all up for keeping this place a secret and letting the user mods/admins deal with any issues that arise. I'm sure if someone started blabbing in the forum about OD, we could get them watched for spamming - remember Cyc and Ak have already been watched before....

Hehe! :)
You actually told him what he has to do to get invited to OD:
To be fair, there was a fairly long period earlier this year/late last year when Iguana actually tried to be sensible and helpful, then he demanded I'd suggest that he'd get into OD (he had known about OD for a while by now), so I did and the response was mostly "I'LL RAPE YOU FOR MENTIONING IG@*$ŁA!!:mad::mad:".

However, lately, his way of "proving us wrong" and "stopping our spam" has been rather hypocritical. I've tried explaining it to him several times, yet he insists it's the right way to do it.

I mean, how long has he been here? Three hours? Four? Four and a half at a push. And he's pretty much just dropped nicely into the group as if there'd been a suitably shaped hole there all along.

plasma hate thread

oops? Wouldn't say it was a hate thread... more of a 'I cant stand the arogance any more' thread... and he's improved in that sence a bit lately.
More worrying though is how does he know of a particular thread? And one so insignificant?

SupSuper
23 Jul 2006, 04:35
Frankly, I don't see why he makes such a fuss. Yes, we're restrictive, yes, we've pushed it sometimes, but all with good reason. If people show what they could contribute to OD, we invite them, otherwise, what's the point?

If they already have an idea that this exists, why do they want in so much? They won't get any special treatment just because they're in here, and the rest of the forum will remain the spam-havoc it is. So if you just want in so you can feel good about yourself or tell others, and won't contribute to this place (after all, Iguaua hardly posts anymore anyways), we do fine without you.

They've managed just fine without having an OD, and we've managed just fine without having them, so let's keep it that way.

We'd never be able to make another avatar fad. He'd whine too much. :p
And he's talking about leaving the forum eventually, anyway. Whether he'll be like Worm Mad and actually do it, I dunno.

I agree that we went rather overboard with all of the fads and spamming and flaming a while back. But we haven't done anything like that for a while, now. Nor do we have plans to.

I thought of something, why does everyone see "not There" as a haze? Maybe it's a good thing. Perhaps "There" is "A cow's anus". Eh?

Hell, even if they did, we could just shrug at them and not care, to make their efforts seem wasted. Does it matter to us if others get to know about OD? Half the forum knows by now, surely.

SupSuper
23 Jul 2006, 19:59
It probably doesn't matter much, but better safe than sorry. Even if they know causing trouble won't get them in, they could still cause trouble. Although Iguana says they won't in fear of banning, and we don't wanna get to the point where we have to threaten people to keep them in place.

Blinx
23 Jul 2006, 21:06
Really. If we revealed the forum to them, I think they'd shut up about it. Maybe setting the notion, that if you act mature enought, you get let in. It would be insentive for a large number of idiots to grow up.

I know that "There" supposedly means "OD", but it doesn't have to be that way.Actually it was originally the IRC channel I had up on my Worms 3D website.

At the moment it's clear that they're trying to see what they can get away with in OO and clearly want to turn it into an off topic discussion forum. I think if the opportunities arise when there's no meaningful conversation, the threads should be locked. As far as I can see that love thread is just a spam hole.
