Whenever I try to load game I get to the point of where it says "Girders can be used to block your enemies in. Loading...." then it just goes straight back to my desktop can someone tell me what happend? I tried running it on refresh rates

Sounds like a graphic card problem to me.
Got the latest drivers installed?

I had a problem like this. Maybe OpenGL or DirectX have problems.
Run DxDiag. (Start -> Run -> dxdiag)

Well, I have checked the video settings and they are all ok, still I'm getting that same thing. But I checked the XOM.log and it reports some errors like these :

2013 | ***Error : .\Win32Storage.cpp (440): Unable to open file! (SaveGame.xml) mode = 1

I don't know what that means but I think it has something to do with the problem. Since some people have had this kinda problem before and If anyone can help me somehow, I'd appreciate.

savegame.xml is a save file which is created first time you play, so it shouldn't be a problem. Check your dxdiag and see when the video card driver is dated, update it from their site (if it's nvidia it's www.nvidia.com ) and go!

I got this same problem today.
The only weird thing is that it was only after a failed attempt at trying to mod a part of the game.
When I put back the origional settings, it worked fine.

I would suggest reinstalling the game. If you have a save file already (should be in the data folder), then make a backup of it, because it should still work.

i found out that the game cant find SaveGame.xml and SaveGame.xom. i did sum experimenting and downloaded the demo. from there i took the two files and put them into the worms 4 mayhem data folder. everytime u start the game the files r deleted and it says in the xom log that it cant find them!!

a demo save file most likely is for a version older then the patched full version.... hence it deletes them to save itself from crashing.

but your problem appears to be just odd.... i have not seen anyone here say that they tried reinstalling the game from scratch off of a official CD.....

run the game as a administrator? do the hokey pokey? maybe do a virus scan? do the macarina? or make sure that after reinstalling windows that you reinstall the game as well....
