Please read it's not that long and will interest any long term Worms fan.

Sorry if you were expecting some kind of an announcement or leak, thats not the case but the title caught your eye didn't it?

I'm new to this site/forum, but very familiar with worms!

Now, i'm no game developer or anything but i'm pretty damn certain on what could make the best worms game ever.

BE HONEST, especially long term fans.

WHO ACTUALLY ENJOYED WORMS REVOLUTION.

It had some good additions/new idea's,

Classes
Dynamic Water
Matt Berry as its narrator

However for me, the game was overall slow, and well.. sluggish. They should have renamed it Slugs!!

The 3D aspect of the game made it generally less precise also, that was a big let down for me. Also the graphics, i'm not usually one to say a game was bad because of its graphics but it just didn't have the best finish and had many rough edges.

Who actually wanted a game like that?!

ANYWAY, going to the point of my post. Can everyone just agree that all we need is Worms: 3 Armageddon?! Everything that W2A has but all the weapons from previous games, new landscapes, new game modes, new hats and way more!

I could go on and on but to be honest I've written similar posts to Team 17 many times and I just cant be bothered to do it all over again. What I would like is for people to reply so we can actually get some opinions going!!

Also, if anyone plays Worms 2: Armageddon on the PS3 add me and i'll give you a good game!! :) Thanks

I mostly agree with you about the slow and sluggish feel of Revolution. I guess maybe a 3D installment just can't really have the same kind of natural feel and precision of the better 2D titles? That and I wasn't a huge fan of the classes mechanic. I understand if some people feel like Worms needed that one more layer of depth, but it felt like needless complication to me, and I liked the feel of all of the special worms even less than the regular soldier. Still, I think the game was solid. I don't have a lot of criticism for the graphics, except that they were pretty obviously LittleBigPlanety, but I'm not even really going to criticize that because they did a pretty darn good job of it, and it suited the game pretty well.

But basically we're in agreement that Revolution was pretty okay but needed something, and some generic gameplay tightening and more content might be the way to go, yeah. I think it definitely needed more level themes, and maybe some more customization content (I miss user flags). It's like, it's an okay-to-goodish game which isn't far off from a really good one, and that can surely be achieved by improving on what's already here.

I definitely wouldn't call the next one Armageddon, though. One Armageddon was enough IMO, and didn't they use it somewhere else too? That'd get pretty confusing.

Yeah, Worms 2: Armageddon is sort of the console version of Worms Reloaded (ish) - certainly a sequel to Worms for Xbox Live Arcade, PSN and iOS (the game originally released in 2007 for Xbox Live Arcade). Not to be confused with Worms 2 or Worms Armageddon. Worms 3: Armageddon would probably push the confusion into overdrive ;)

I suggest they call it Worms 3: 2: Revolutionary Armageddon Blast Party.

That's not snappy enough. Something more along the lines of Worms 3: 2: Revolutionary Ultimate Armageddon Blast Party Under Siege. :p

I've wondered several times if Team17 will stick with the 2/2.5D route for now, or whether they'll go back to another full-on 3D worms game. Sticking with 2D's probably the safer bet, and evolving Revolution a bit further (eg, like Worms 2 to WA)

The next one is clearly going to be an episodic spinoff called The Worminatrix featuring explicit gore wrapped in wonderful Asian animation, offering a unique insight into the lore of the franchise.

Revolution was the first worms game I hated. Too sluggy and slow. I much prefer the 2d landscape style of Worms 2 Armageddon/Reloaded to the 3d landcape style in Worms Revolution which I personally didn't like at all.

New gameplay mechanics were good, deffo, but that was about it.

That makes me think... how many people here would be willing to cooperate to make the "best Worms game ever"? A game with modern graphics and developed around community feedback with all the crazy little ideas that Team 17 would normally consider not viable at all. Basically Worms Unlimited (http://worms2d.info/Worms_Unlimited).
We've got artists, programmers, possibly people who know their way around making sounds and music, and a bunch of people with great ideas. I mean, yes, we've already got Worms Armageddon, but it's still pretty constrained by its own art style and the fact that Team 17 still owns it.
It should be legal as long as the game is free and states that there is no affiliation with Team 17 or whatsoever, right?

Of course that's not really a serious project but I was just wondering if anyone ever thought of that. :p
