I've never played this game online, but I have recently because of Paulos and I having our Worms 4 project. However, I have one question to ask:

WTF?

When Paulos, who has the ports forwarded, hosts, his game tries to connect to ME and fails. However, when I host, behind a firewall that I can't control and a NAT not set to port forward, he CAN join me, because my game connects to him????

How on EARTH is this supposed to work? Seriously, WTF? Does EVERY client have to be able to host, or does everyone connect to a single client for no reason?

yeah, Muzer. as I heard the system is very awkward and both players need to have their ports forwarded, both hosting and joining :( dunno why

btw: did you intend to post in W4M section? i'm not sure if this applies to W3D

No, I WAS talking about W3D - we tried to play online because we wanted to use W3D for research purposes. W4M appears to work as any sane person would expect.

Depends some games discover thru ping before start broadcasting so if he can reach you, dunno.
Tell him to try BattleLAN program, takes the packets and spoofing the destination with them, aka attacking you, so basically you must see his host then. ;)
The program was created for starcraft playing udp over internet with, but it works for worms2, worms armageddon, wwp and worms3d as far as I know.
No VPNs and such.
