View Full Version : Unfair play: waiting for the time to run out to get the last turn

I think everyone knows about that issue. It's unfair when you see someone do that and it makes you want to smash your head on the keyboard. Moreover it makes any match feel long-drawn-out. Less time for shooting and getting bonuses, too.

A couple of simple solutions:

Have either player get one more turn after the 3 minutes have passed. This will result in every player trying to shoot as fast as they can in order to recieve the last turn, unlike just waiting for their entire turn time to run out, making the other player feel bored and -pis- displeased.

Add an additional game mode which has the game end after a set amount of turns. No reason to wait for your turn time to run out.

Add another bonus to the outcome of a match: Least turn time used. The player with the least turn time gets an additional 50 coins, so if you see your opponent playing dirty at least you know you'll get a small consolation.

I'm fairly sure any of this solution will improve the quality of random online matches by 10 times. Most likely even more!

This problem is also kinda related to surrendering problem.. Simply, I started to hate random online games and playing more and more with an AI, just because if you hit an enemy too hard, it will surrender and screw up your game, kills and other.. If you wanna keep it low to prevent surrender, then it will waste time..

Something definitely have to be done :\

This is exactly why I love playing against you! you may know me i'm Din-Adrian and when i play against you I use my best tactics and weapons because I know you won't quit!

And after that I never surrenderd in my life, only in challenges i did.

Well happy Worming

minute moar to game,or -10 sec on turn. We cold try this first and see how it goes? I like the bonus 4 short play thing, perfect motivator.

bonus is a good idea, but 50 coins? you'd get an extra 80 for the win, and yea it is annoying, but if they rematch, you can always do it back and it is a useful tactic but I have seen it backfire a few times as well so it works out pretty fair in a bazooka/grenade fight as long as they dont pull out a HHG in the last few seconds

Not trying to stir... but is this not just the nature of timed games? In a very close match surely somebody can't be faulted for wanting to get the last shot in?

My solution:

If player 1 started the game, player 2 should always have the last turn - and vice versa.

There is a reason why there's a timer and not just a fixed number of terms... Time management has always been an essential element of Worm's strategy! The only possible excuse for your inattentiveness is the game timer suddenly jumping due to lag...
