View Full Version : PS3-Game Progress Overridden

I know this isn't a new topic, but I haven't found any solutions on the other threads that I've read so, here it goes again...

My system downloaded an update for the game, and on start-up, all my previous progress was erased :( I dug around in my system files a bit to find that the game created a new "Save Data Utility" which somehow becomes the default, and my previous "Save Data Utility" (which Is from the other day, and I presume, still has all my progress) basically sits there like a bump on a log.

I can't get the game or my system to recognize the other file, so the only option I have is to start over. It's not the end of the world, but it is a bummer because I have no idea whether or not it will happen again.

I do wish that someone from Team17 would address this issue. Worms is one of my favorite franchises, and I really would like to get this dealt with so I can get back to enjoying my nostalgia. PLEASE ADDRESS!

yea same for me. it automatically threw me into the opening mission. honestly this wouldnt bother me in the least as long as the Flawless Mission Mars Pack trophy pops. I'll report back

I have 2 second that. Just downloaded an update and now game is actiing as if I just bought it. My DLC is there but I have no characters, and mission progress is gone. Frustrated.

I spent so much time on the missions, I absolutely won''t complete of all them again to get all my class worms back.

After applying the patch the game is creating a new save file. The previous save does seem to be there still on the PS3 (and backed up to the Plus server), hopefully unaffected. It's only a matter of reading back that previous save. Please address this severe issue.

Hi guys, sorry to hear you've experienced an issue with your save data progress.

We've currently been unable to repro this internally. Do you have any further information you could provide us about where you were currently in the game/what teams you had/what you'd been doing etc. so we can try to repro this.

All right, here's everything I remember:

— I had 3 of each worm class, maybe the fourth of one of them.
— Completed all missions of the first 3 themes, was just missing the last few on the farm.
— Bought the funfair DLC, but only played the theme in multiplayer, didn't play any of the additional puzzles.
— Had 2 formations, 1 custom game scheme.
— My game is from the US PS Store.

That's all I can think of, but I'd like to humbly suggest that this may not be the issue, because of the double save I mentioned.

When opening the game after the patch, a new save file is being created on the side of the previous one. The progress doesn't seem to have been overwritten, it's just that the game seems to be reading from a different file than the save used in the previous version.

I have already tried deleting the game completely and the saves, redownloading the game and after the save from the Plus server, and the game still insists on creating a different save.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you debug this.

don't forget to throw a "Flawless Mission" fix in there whenever you fix the above problem

Yes please!!!! I have OCD and have heard about horror stories on console releases. Hope they dont abandon us like always and never fix a thing, sad panda :/

I know I havent played any challenges but I had at least 1 team created, bought I believe 1 type of worm each and was on the 3rd world in campaign. Prob about halfway through that. Should we just start over again or wait for some type of resolution?

All 3 users on bolth of my systems each at different levels of progress are GONE. I had gold on everything exept the last 3 mars missions which i was going to play tonite but.. kind sucks with all soldiers. I've played some of those missions so many freakin times is there any hope??

Here is what I can remember about my progress at the time:


On mission 3-3, or 3-4
Purchased 2 of each class of worm
On challenge 2-4, or 2-5
No DLC's purchased
Purchased from US PS Network store
Created one custom team formation


That's about all I can remember, it was about a week and a half ago when it happened, and I haven't played it yet since then.

I really hope this info contributes in some way :)

It would sure be nice to see a little more info from team17 on when or what they are going to do to remedy this. It would suck to start over and even worse to have it happen again. Im no programmer but shouldn't it be as easy as adding a load / save feature in the options menu? It appears my old save data is in tact it just wont load it. I've loved worms since my first copy on the sega saturn and have played several versions since and loved all of them. Revolution is my favorite so far. But its hard to recommend this game to friends when their are bugs like this. I hope this version is very successful and look forward to many more thanks team17 P.S. don't leave us hangin updates please

I would have 2 agree. Still awaiting a response. I prob wont even bother with the new DLC this week until Im sure there a chance that I can continue where I left off. We dont even know what that update even addressed except for creating new save files. Frustrating to say the least.

You have to be kidding me. How can you not reproduce this? You notice it right after updating. There really shouldn't be any additional information needed. Where is this machine you use internally that somehow runs this game without any issues? How come team17 isn't responding at all or even giving patch release notes? I love worms and think the changes in this version are cool but it would be nice if you did a real QA on the game before releasing or at least kept giving constant updates to let us know you're doing something.

Team17 Digital would like to take this opportunity to apologies for the save-game issue caused by the recent title update. Being gamers ourselves we understand the frustration caused by this error.

Steps are being taken internally to investigate just how and why this situation has happened and every effort will be made to ensure it doesn’t happen again.

In the meantime we have considered the best way forward and have concluded that a second update would more likely cause further disruption to the community.
