View Full Version : Dynamic water damage
Dynamic water can be interesting. It's a great idea. However I think the damage it deals is rather low. I hoped there would be some setting somewhere to change the "drowning damage" but haven't found it yet.
Am I overlooking it or are we stuck with the 5 damage per round, at least for now?

5 damage is enough for it to be dangerous but not annoying , you can easily lose worms to water if you're to careless .
5 per turn can be quite a lot if you're in a 4 team game and don't have a select worm

Yeah it would be nice if you could change the damage per round on Dynamic Water. The more options a Worms title has the better it is, that's just how it is.

This is true but one day you might want the damage to be either less or more, and that's when it would be nice with such a option in place.
Unfortunately in my experience so far 5 is not enough to worry about. I don't prioritize moving submerged worms, even if I have worm select available since 5 per round is hardly noticeable for quite a while on a worm with 100 health.
I mainly play 4 player local games and have finished whole games with worms underwater for the whole duration of the match without much worry.
Although I guess that increasing it too much could get annoying but I also imagine that, at least once in a while, needing to actually flee from water could be interesting.
For now trying to submerge worms is pretty much useless for me. The only use I have for water is trying to wash worms into the ocean.
In a two players match, blasting a worm that just had a turn into water deals 35 damage over time if there are still 8 worms in the game. Even after that the respective worm might have trouble climbing out of the puddle without using a tool. In close matches, 5 health points can be the matter of life and death - you should worry about getting blown into dynamic water as much as getting shot off hills and take fall damage. Place your worms more carefully or accept taking water damage for a position that's harder to reach for your enemy.
