View Full Version : Why DLC?

Just had a quick think... I want to ask team17 why the game had to be split up.

I've been addicted to playing it over the past couple of days, I'm not sure if people agree but if you had sold the whole package at a higher price I would have happily got it. (even with my criticism)

But I disagree with season pass dlc for all the obvious reasons.

Also, will the weapons (lightning, buffalo, seen in screenshots and achievement list) be a free update or are they going to be part of the dlc?

I don't like the 'DLC' system, it sounds very mercantile... (I don't like Steam either.)

I prefer the time when you bought a physic game and you had your own CD-ROM or DVD, and you knew that all the content was in it. As it is now, I have the feeling of having a 'half' game.

Already bought the season pass. I like to think that I'm simply paying a bit less than 30€ for the full game, which is quite decent, especially when you compare that with the price of Worms Reloaded when it was released.

Slightly disappointed with the fact that some classics like the Skunk and Napalm Strike were part of the extra weapons though. There are only two poison weapons in the game and none of them will be available to players who don't have the season pass.

I kinda expected a full weapon panel in the base game, and extra weapons in the DLC which would be fun variants of existing ones. Silly overpowered things like the good old Minigun and Ming Vase. (didn't the Ming Vase make a comeback in Worms Facebook, by the way?)
Would have been more fair to players who can't afford buying DLC.

I'm not even supposed to know so I don't think I should give more details. :(

Ah well, you guys can always remove my post if it's causing so much trouble.

Spoiler alert, don't click if you got the season pass and don't want to ruin the surprise. (http://kilburn.ftp.free.fr/wr/)

so you have no source for whether the weapons are paid dlc (meaning a split in the community) and the new weapons only being available in games where everyone has bought the dlc?

It won't split the community. Beth has confirmed that people who do not own the dlc weapons will still be able to join games that use them, they just won't be able to host games with the new weapons or use them offline.

Not sure about that one. My guess is they can, as long as the game is being hosted by someone who owns the dlc.
