Hi,

Just got this on PC, really enjoying it :) Is it me but are the animations all at 30fps or something? Moving the mouse around is really smooth - but the animations of the worms and the weapons, backgrounds and water are all kinda jerky, like they're at 30fps or something.

Thoughts?

I think allot of people have this problem, even acrost most platforms at the moment. Most games nowdays come out with problems so it's a little understandable that wel have some issues before they get around to fixing them. I honestly see this more like a beta test as that's the current quality.

Maybe the animations themselves are just made on 30fps? (or just a certain amount of keyframes). I think in order to increase that is increase the amount of keyframes in the animations? (some sort of interpolation).

Well i'm thinking from a Adobe Premiere point of view. Not sure how the animation system in worms works exactly tho.

There is no FPS cap, some drivers do not properly support the option to disable v-synch. If your card can render at 59.999 FPS but v-sych is turned on, then it will lock at 30 FPS. The only way around this is to force v-synch to off in your driver.

It's hard to explain, in my Nvidia drivers i force vsync off and ingame also vsync off. i get very high FPS (because moving around the landscape with the mouse goes very smooth, also the worms revolution logo in the beginning is very smooth. i can check this with Fraps.

I think the animations are keyframed at 30 fps, or something like that?

That's what it looks like to me, because simply moving the mouse around the land and the menu during a match, it is clearly running at 60FPS on my rig with vsync on. When the worms walk and do their little animations, they are at 30FPS. When I blast a worm into the water, he suddenly can move at 60FPS, but only as he is falling. Turning off vsync still makes the worms animate at 30FPS, so this has to be something to do with the animations themselves, as I can max the game no problem (minus AA, since I happen to have an ATI card and it is greyed out).

This is because Anti-aliasing is provided through NVidia’s FXAA shader solution. This is a complex shader and will not compile on all graphics cards. If the shader will not compile, the option is greyed out.

It's not v-sync, the game is silky smooth when panning around the level, it's just when physics or animations are going on. Perhaps animations and physics locked to 30fps to suit the console versions? I dunno.

It's not AMDs fault, it's Team17's fault for choosing to support an anti-aliasing method supported by only one vendor.

They could have easily allowed MSAA and let it work on both vendors. MSAA is much better than FXAA in image quality too. I don't want a blurry image for no jaggies.

Please, consider supporting MSAA in an update.

Same here. Its really annoying.

I hope there is a fix soon

So true. If team17 can't get even AA right, it is no wonder there are a lot of other problems...

And if they don't patch AA for radeon cards, worms revolution has been my last team 17 game. every new worms game since years is a bad console ports missign basic features and offering a lot of bugs or bad design decitions...

After spending more time with the game, I used the Boggy B in a match, and when the grenade exploded, a nearby physics object reacted to the hole, but it fell at 30FPS, not 60 like what usually happens when I blow up parts of the environment.

Maybe his name should be Buggy B instead. :p

Sadly i have not found an injector who is working with opengl so far :(

Its definately an odd design choice. I wonder if one of the designers might come by the forum and shed some light on why they chose Nvidia's shader?

i bought this game after watching a couple of videos and thought to myself " hey it looks like they finally did it right, the best of the "old worms" on a new engine".

and it didnt take long after starting the game that i realized i couldnt use anti-aliasing in this game because, while every game you could think of may it be crysis 2, borderlands, games like starcraft 2 - hey any game you name it, supports at least post-processing anti-aliasing methods like FXAA or MSAA, this one doesnt, at least on ATI, for whatever reason.

i approached the problem with a bruteforce-method and used the "upsampling" method to increase my screen resolution and thus decrease the aliasing.

but it didnt take long for the next big bugger, every animation in this game is locked to a hard-coded 30fps, on any graphics card brand, and at any settings (vsync off/on - fps @ 60+), just like in quake 4

which makes the game choppy/unsmooth, in a worms game! as if the whole anti-aliasing ordeal wasnt enough.

i sadly cant request a refund from steam so i think i might avoid buying the next worms, i will probably just pirate the next game.

please put more effort into your games team17, worms is all you have, cant you atleast do that right ?

this game is an atrocity.
