Ideas / Suggestions for Worms Revolution

put BACK INTO the game
- Replay - Single Player , LAN and Online Games
- Multiplayer increased back to 8 players
- Client/Server Hosting method of hosting games and
not matchmaking (Keep matchmaking trash on consoles)
- 6-8 player multiplayer games

Add to the game

* Please add eSports support , Ladder Mode , Spectator mode and record match

* Please add LAN Multi player support , this would get worms played again
at lan parties and avoid having to add the peoples names on steam that
you might only play with once at an lan party, even if the ip range is limited
to 192.168.0.1-192.168.0.254 and to 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254 and ban other LAN ip's.

* Please add a function of the game if 3-7 people are playing , one person can join and spectate the ongoing game then join to play next round.

* Please add ping meter to the game/game menu

* Please add the function to play the game in Window mode

* Please add the function to record a match. I know doom and quake had this support.

* Please add ping block function to the game , eg no one joins with a ping higher then 200 this could be a user setting to disable/enable this function. Help in lag free games.

* Please add what country or language the player is from/speaks. Avoids people joining and speaking another language

* Please add party mode/split screen - Multi people on the one pc , using the same keyboard

or mouse or two keyboard and mice. Most pcs have 4 to 8 usb ports now. Why not connect up

two. or 2nd person can use a joystick/joypad. Split screen gaming isnt supported enough on

pc since 2000/2001.

* Please support cross platform play with ranked online play of the new wormNET internet

system. PC Windows , PC Linux , Mac and Console (Xbox360/Xbox720/PS3/PS4)
Please dont use Games for Windows Live

* Hosting BAN list - by name or IP for x hours/temp/perm

* multiplayer options :-
1. LAN Play without WormsNet - 8 player unranked
2. Online WormsNet without or with steam - Add 8 player games - ranked/unranked
3. Online Private unranked game without Worms Net - 4 player game - unranked

Other ideas:-

- Old Weapons back , that were removed from worms reloaded

- New map sizes - Current (medium) , small , large

- Smoke from the fire that follows the wind direction and damages worms with smoke inhalation

- Acid and Acid Rain , damage over time and noxious fumes.

- Big Rocks/Boulders that can be blasted to roll down a hill and crush worms, knock stuff over and blow up barrels.

- Add CPU teams to online multiplayer (bots)

- Team Mode - 1 vs 1 , 2 vs 2 , etc and When invis , you are partially visible to your teammates..

- Bring back victory fanfare & end game clapping with chance to chat

- Player vs AI , 2team of human vs 2 team of ai

- More than 2 max players in ranked mode

- Better Multi player lobby system . The ones in the old dos games were far better

- Support standard USB Keyboard and Mouse on Console and PC editions

Fixed for Worms Reloaded and the new game

AI in single player is inconsistent - ai seems to be insanely precise grenades and Bazooka yet othertimes really stupid. (Reloaded & Revolution)

Ability to choose map/landscape BEFORE starting multiplayer game (Reloaded & Revolution)

Bring back a LAN mode (Reloaded & Revolution)

Add WormsNet (Reloaded & Revolution)

Only thing im really interested is myself is adding AI to player matches, I normally only play with a select few people, and normally only 2 of us a match, it would be nice to till the empty team slots with AI if i wanted to play a private match, and not a ranked one.

Making the Landscape editor work with multiplayer games (dunno if there will be one including with revolutions) but with reloaded, you cannot make a map using the in-game editor and play it on multiplayer because it doesn't create the .kev files, so any map you made in game will only show up as a black screen on anyone elses game.

Pretty much what you've mentioned really..

You're asking for split-screen play... on a turn-based strategy title.

The mind boggles.

Definately would be awesome to include AI player into multiplayer games with friends.

Allowing spectators online would be fantastic.

We run cups in our community for worms and it would be great to be able to watch other peoples games :)

Everything that WA has, minus anything that is outdated or makes the game unbalanced/less fun/uncomfortable to use.

Plus lots o' new stuff, budget permitting.

One thing I would really like to see is a spectate mode. People always feel left out waiting for games, and me being the nice one ends up sitting out to let them play :-/ A spectate mode would solve this problem completely, or some type of rotation system that rotates players in lobbies with more than 4 people would be awesome!

No it wouldn't.

Guess its up to the player really, It would be an option not compulsory.. Personally I dont like 2 player games and think having an optional AI to make a 3rd or 4th would be good.

I also find 2 player games a bit lacking . 3 to 4 is more fun , this is were it could improve the fun of the match having an CPU AI to fill out the landscape.

OK, after being a worms gamer since 1996, owning at least one copy of every worms game(except 3d), surely I can voice my opinion! I remember queuing in HMV for my boxed copy of worms 2 in 1997? i think that would of been the time! buying worms was cheap considering the phonebill of £700 in one month i ran up on a 33.3kb modem playing w2!!

OK here is what i think, Worms 2 had the best interface of all the worms games, the fact that you could wait about for people, set your schemes as you want and still use windows was great, it was by far the most easy to use, i dont suppose we will get that in a console focused world, but one can hope.

Next, i remember when reloaded came out the devs were saying, the most configurable customisable everrrrrr! erm? i guess they never played worms before, because it was the most locked down ever!

The T17 devs should go and play armageddon, the best worms overall so far, infact go online now and i bet you there will be between 50-80 players, load up reloaded and find a game if you are lucky... speaks for itself really.
infact for any of you who havent played it, youtube worms armageddon, there were almost unlimited crazy modes, which is what worms is about? surely?
from sheep racing, rope racing ( with an actual usable rope), parashoot racing, there was anything and everything - it was AMAZING.

Fix the rope(the console compatible version that pc gamers are forced with), its so boring now its not usable. if you are really that bothered about it effecting the gameplay, have two types of rope, one that can appear in normal schemes, and a actual working rope for the various roper schemes. the W2 or W:A ropes were the only good ones.

Weapons, where have the real weapons gone? all the good stuff was taken out!!!!! why?!?!!?!!!!!!
bring back things like homing pigeons, infact all the weapons, theres no reason to leave them out?!!

Replays (including saving)
Multiplayer - Increase player numbers, why is it so low now? i guess something to do with the console port. - we often have 5-6 players who want to play but cant :(!!!
Spectator mode, where has that gone!
actually support pc users when it comes to talking, typing, in game, no sillyness with not being able to chat at certain times, between turns etc
Make it so that you can always free look, sometimes it gets locked.
Windowed mode

This seems like a rant, it isnt, i just wish that worms was fun to play now days. dont get me wrong, with your friends you can still have a laugh with the randomness that is worms, that is still there, but i am always left thinking if only W:A was working properly in w7. it was just far superior in every way to reloaded.

I am kind of hoping reloaded was a release to get some cash in to finish off revolution properly. :D time will tell.

Worms Armageddon does work properly in Windows 7, so you can still play that if the newer games disappoint.

Hey Coolpot, a great number of the Revolution team were here and worked on Armageddon. They've worked very hard on getting the balancing right for Worms Revolution and it plays incredibly well. I've really enjoyed playing it, it feels ace and its beautiful to watch it all unfold :)

That's exactly what Worms is about, having a laugh with mates. Thanks for the suggestions you've raised, most of them have been covered and discussed (some at length!) already in the forums. You should definitely give Worms Revolution a try when its out before you say that Worms isn't fun.

Hopefully Worms Revolution will prove to be another fun multiplayer experience for you, but you should also enjoy the extensive single player campaign. The writing by Dean Wilkinson and narration by Matt Berry is hilarious :)

Thank-you for the reply, I will definitely give it a go, as I do with all worms games, there is always something different to like in most version. Most of all I look forward to seeing how the physics objects and water add to the game play.

Hope the aqua sheep makes a return, nothing funnier than a underwater sheep with a snorkel :-)

make the dafault go to in the xbox live multiplayer option menu quick match be 'player match' instead of ranked to encourage more people to land in 4 player matches which will surely increase the regular base or longevity or have more first timers stay a bit longer, instead of playing the hardcore super serious stress heads *****ing each other when they win etc..u know who u are.

assuming that the set up is the same ie 4player for player, and 2 for ranked that is.

just a small thing but i think it would encourage more numbers getting together more often and in turn more FUN of course.

I got a suggestion for offline quick matches. Personally I ain't into the online side of worms and like to start up the game and press quick match to get playing against bots right away. Only a few Worms games make it a bit repetitive because of the limits put on the quick match feature. Here are some suggestions I have for it to make it as fun as a quick match can be, hopefully you guys can still take it in consideration since it shouldn't be that much work.

- Random landscapes - some Worms games always give the same type of landscapes and themes if you keep pressing quick match, please make it so it chooses a different theme each time. I would like to see some variation in my quick matches so it doesn't become boring, and having to start a custom match just to get a different landscape is rather bothersome.
- Quick match options - just some options to personalize the quick match experience, the settings you put here will apply to all the quick matches you start, this would mean everyone will get a game to his liking by a fast click on the quick match button. Based on a menu I saw in one of the dev diaries, a menu were you can set the # of Bots, difficulty of Bots, Game mode, Game settings, Turn Time and Wins would turn this game's quick match into the best quick match in any Worms game.

I hope that you guys can pull this off for me, I would very much appreciate it.

But you can also create a custom match. It takes just so little more effort.

make sure on the 4 player matches when the first losing player is out and leaves rather than staying and spectating....that the game doesnt just freeze up so that the other 3 players have to end their wasted time of a game........like this current one does!

Hello here :)

my expectection for worms revolution are almost all listed in the first post. but i got some more sugestions.

iam a huge player of worms armageddon, played the first time with the demo of WA, and then buyed the game right away. first online game was arround years 2000, when Xdsl became avalaible in my city... after some break, mostly because of my study, i really started to play a lot arround 2004... joined a clan, and started beeing really active in worms armageddon comunity.
I joined two years ago the projectX, as a betatester, mostly because of the real time worms. what is real time worms ? it's the arghh.......

Real time worms (RTW), is an atrocity for some player, (worms always been turn based) and the real holy grail for other like me. RTW is really usefull for some gamemode, like rope race, battle race, boom race yeah all kind of race. RTW work in 3.6.29, but since 3.6.31 is out, it doesn't work anymore. the creator of projectX (entuser), is now inactiv and i have lost all hope in playing again RTW on WAwormnet.

if you introduce a new worms, aka worms revolution, and if you put back old physics of game (mostly rope obviously...), and all the suggestion listed in the first post, wich is to me a must have list in worms revolution, do you also plan to add RTW in worms revolution ?

and if you don't, do you plan to add a mod loader (like wormkit for wa), wish allow player to create mods, and add it to the game. Mods in wa are a big succes, (wk_rubberworms mostly, and projectX lately). Do you plan on player to create those, or not ?

i guess i could make a really big post, about worms, since it's my favorite game at all time, but i'll stop for now... iam waiting for an anwser :)

thanks for reading.

Fun suggestion, perhaps it would be a lucrative idea to make a stand-alone game and call it, I dunno, "Ninja Rope Race"? I mean, there is truly a lot of people thinking of Worms as a turn-based(real time) ninja race title, rather than a turn-based strategy game which it actually is. Such a thing might be a best-seller, but not only that, it could also attract customers with "special interests" and thus avoid a lot of complaint threads. In the end, rope behaviour, physics, customisation etc. are likely going to differ from W:A anyways, which presumably results in loads of complaint threads that are basically "I was expecting W:A with polished graphics. Why is this not W:A with polished graphics?".

Oh right, that's an important note if you are going to make a game focusing on rope races: physics and ninja-rope would have to be exactly the same as in W:A. Otherwise, prepare to get trolled.

I heard that many people won't buy worms revolution because of the ropes. I heard many people complaining about the new rope in worms reloaded. Well the staff of team17 could make a game named worms rope ( or something like that). Just implent tzhe old ropes make some levels and put it on the store. It would save many worms fans and the fans would be (finaly) happy. T17 staff plz answer!Thank you.
