Since I've been playing Worms for so many years, it's not such a big deal to me but I am curious what the single player campaign will entail. Over the years I've tried to get many a friend into the Worms series and they always interpret to be too chaotic/chance-based. I insist, of course, that once you get to know the game it's really quite strategic with only a minimal amount of chance but it did make me realize that with all the weapons and such, there's a big learning curve. I'm wondering if the single player campaign this time around will focus more on learning each weapon, the amount of damage it can do, and it's overall practical application.
Mostly because I'm a selfish ******* and would love this time around to get some friends playing and, at the very least, hoping I can tell them, "Play through the campaign and you'll understand things a lot better."
Anyhow. What is the single player mode looking like for Revolution?

I really liked the missions in Worms World Party, they alternated between serious missions with an awesome finale (where you end up pushing the boss into a stack of ten mines), puzzles, and crazy missions (like the ones where you have to avoid falling mines, or the memorable mine cannon). I didn't really like the missions in Worms Reloaded because they were usually too easy, and most missions consisted of plain old deathmatch. Some of the puzzles were interesting but must were too straightforward.
Also, I know it's probably too late to suggest that but I don't think the money system was a good idea in the first place. Sure you can unlock whatever you want, but once you unlock everything you wanted, what motivates you to keep playing to unlock the rest? I feel like predefined unlocks are much more fun because they prevent you from unlocking all the coolest stuff first, and that's why you keep coming back for more.
Yes, if there are unlockables, make it as in Worms Battle Islands, namely having a "Special Crate" on the battlefield in each mission. Normally it was easy to solve the "plain old deathmatch missions", but they really motivated you to unlock everything which was quite hard. You get medals depending on the time you needed to complete the deathmatch (not counting AI turns which was the best thing about it), Experience Points for unlocking rankings and items, and collectable Special Crates which you both need to collect and then accomplish the mission to get the weapon pieces you could use to improve your own team weapon.
On top of that the game features seperated Puzzle and Time campaigns. Never had as much fun playing single-player than with Worms Battle Islands. In return the new game mode "Tactics" was rather disappointing, but oh well :p
I hope that the "new challenges" in Worms Revolution are not just going to be all deathmatches, rather puzzles or something. I guess the unlockable stuff like the 12 skins are unlocked through completing the missions.

IMO, The most challenging and yet fun mission of the series was the mine cannon mentioned in this thread...
Now we have magnets and sentrys.....the puzzle-like mission possibilities are endless...In worms reloaded there was some puzzle-like missions....but the solutions were too obvious, in most cases...

Oh yeah that too. Anything that gives some replayability to missions is welcome. A good singleplayer campaign should be something that keeps surprising you and making you come back for more.

This is key. The missions must be CHALLENGING. This makes solving them much more satisfying!

I'm not bothered about continuity and narrative in the missions - what I'mmost concerned with is challenge.
The missions in Worms Reloaded and Worms 2: Armageddon were, to put it bluntly, dull. Almost every "area" consisted of bland "kill them before they kill you" scenarios, punctuated by occasionally challenging but often tedious puzzle missions. Personally, I much prefer the objective-based missions seen in WA and WWP, and it'd be great if they made a comeback.
Not too keen on unlockables though. Never have been in videogames.

I like puzzles and puzzle elements in games.
W2A did a pretty good job at implementing them and I thought they were like a seperate but just as enjoyable experience from the main game.
I would agree that things like this definately adds more to the single player game experience.
As a true gamer, I don't care much about a gamerscore... Achievements / Trophies etc...
In fact I would go as far as to say it actually means nothing and count's for nothing. (to me)
This really shows when Capcom are giving people achievement points simply for visiting the DLC store... Whatever happened to the word achievement? and the meaning of achieving something in a game ?
Personally for me... I prefer Unlockables over Trophies/Achievements any day.
Not only are they more motivating than GamerScore but they are more rewarding to earn (and use) aswell.
