If the other player quits mid-game, you'll get credit for the win. An update to the game made this possible.

I know that this works when I attempted to unlock the Ranked Master achievement (http://www.trueachievements.com/a34541/ranked-master-achievement.htm?showguides=1).

yes, but the trueskill system seems to randomly punish you if your opponent quits. i just lost over 100 places after 4 people quit in a row... while other times i will gain rank from the other people quitting
