UPDATE:
Thanks to everyone who applied to be part of the Worms Revolution beta. We are no longer accepting applications for the time being. Thank you.

Hi all,

Team17 are actively seeking participants for a closed beta for Worms™ Revolution. We’ve had much success with previous closed beta programmes and would like to extend the opportunity to the Worms community once again to allow you guys to get a sneak peek at what we have been busy working on whilst also helping us out in terms of feedback and bug reporting.

We’re aiming to kick the beta off on Steam within the next few weeks and are looking for interested parties to apply now.

In order to apply you’ll need to be a PC user with a current Steam and Team17 Forum account and you’ll have to sign an NDA too – never fear – this isn’t as complicated as it sounds and full instructions will be provided via email during your application.

So what are you waiting for? We’re eager to get people online and playing the game as soon as possible, and will also try to be on hand to play some matches ourselves and answer any problems or questions you may have.

Apply now by emailing wormsbeta@team17.com and including ‘Worms Revolution Beta’ in the email subject.

If successful, we’ll get back to you with an application form within the next few weeks and look forward to having you on board for another Team17 community beta test. Please remember that this is a closed beta with extremely limited placement, so we cannot guarantee that everyone will receive a response.

Thanks again for your continued support of Team17.

Phantom
6 May 2012, 22:59
Well first of all it's too early to get the key and second you aren't supposed to actually tell anyone you have it.

jsgnext
7 May 2012, 02:41
Hmmmm....no, just no...
You can tell everyone that you got in the beta if you feel like....
NDA implies you cant post/show videos, screenshots, client, code, current performance status or any information about the incomplete game(the product) to people who are not in the beta or in the development team...

Here are some examples:
Ex1: "im having fun testing worms revolution"---> im not breaking the NDA...
Ex2: "Im having fun testing worms revolution specially the bugged multiplayer and <insert brand new unrevealed weapon name here>" ---> im breaking the NDA
Ex3: "Worms revolution sucks because it doesnt have holy hand grenade" ---> im breaking the NDA
Ex4: "Worms revolution Review by jsgnext"----> Im breaking the NDA
Ex5: "Hey bro, wanna come home to check out the new Worms!"----> Im breaking the NDA
Ex6: "I got in :)" --> im not breaking the NDA because im not giving ANY information about the product being tested and/or its current state of development

In fact, in previous betas, everybody posted in the corresponding thread if they got in or not...including me...
In the NDA document it says what you can do, and what you cant do....so when you recieve it, read it before sending it back...

Wormy34
7 May 2012, 03:16
Do you get sent the NDA by email if you get into beta?

Akuryou13
7 May 2012, 04:22
In the NDA document it says what you can do, and what you cant do....so when you recieve it, read it before sending it back...Exactly this. Half the time you're not even legally allowed to mention that you're in the beta. Team17's previous betas have largely included exactly this requirement of silence. Whether the masses actually follow that rule, and whether T17 punishes them is all up to the various people involved, but T17's betas HAVE mentioned not discussing your admittance to the beta. At least in the past.

Do you get sent the NDA by email if you get into beta?Usually, yes. Either you get a form in your email, or you get an NDA as part of the beta download and you accept it by clicking the download or what have you. Depends on the company. I think T17's usually sent emails.

Ex5: "Hey bro, wanna come home to check out the new Worms!"----> Im breaking the NDA
Legally, I wouldn't be allowed to mention anything to my wife and kids.
And I surely wouldn't chase away my friends, should they happen to get wind of something.

It's a quite tricky thing who you can trust or not, since in the end it would (or could) always fall back on you.

So the best thing would be to keep a complete radio silence.
Anything else would only be teasing others.

SirFuture
7 May 2012, 17:12
Right, email sent - hope I get to test this new game out.

The trailer makes it look amazing. I've been a big time worms fan since the very first game.

jsgnext
7 May 2012, 17:52
So the best thing would be to keep a complete radio silence.

I somewhat agree with this tho...
Its safer to not tell anybody that you got in....but you do not break the NDA by doing the opposite...
I could quote the NDA document, but i dont think its needed here....and Im not allowed to do so...

[...]T17's betas HAVE mentioned not discussing your admittance to the beta. At least in the past..

Maybe they said so and i didnt noticed....but its not specified in the Testers obligations of the NDA document...so it is immoral, not illegal...
However, this time im not telling anyone if I got in or not....since I agree with bonz on the "teasing others" argument now :/ (I never though about that)
Anyway, people can go into the "Official Worms revolution Betatest Steam group" and find out who got in and who not xD

SupSuper
7 May 2012, 19:09
It's also impossible to not tell anyone because Steam will advertise it to your whole friends list (or just say "In-Game" which makes them even more curious). :p But unless your friends are jerks, they will usually leave it at that and you should be fine.

Hey Amiga fans!

Hi Thurbo, squirminator2k and vackillers thank you for the warm welcome :)

I still have my trusty amiga's (A500+ with dual kickstart) (and an A1200) but sadly they don't get any airtime these days...

...

God I do miss games like P-X, Superfrog, Lost Vikings, Fury of the furries, turrican and such... They were good times indeed !

...

Here is another one! I still have my Amigas (mainly CD32) and still develop a little bit for Amiga (with and for Hollywood).
Also, I was one of the original buyers of Worms: DC. What a great game! I also have the CD32 version with these cute cutscenes. Epic! :-)

I think, we "old" Amiga folks need a separate space (here in the forums)? It is always great to see some fellow Amigans.

Regarding Beta: I also got two mails, I tend to answer the second one. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, just a quick update on the Worms Revolution beta. Thank you for your support with wanting to help test this game with us. We've had a lot of applications, which we are currently working our way through so some of you should be receiving Steam keys within the next few working days :)

We'll let you know updated progress on what is going on with it. Although as we've stated in advance already we will not have the time to personally response to those who unfortunately didn't make the beta.

Cheers!

It depends on how large a cash sum you offered them, oviously.

You did offer them a large cash sum, didn't you? It's really the only way to guarantee a spot on any beta.

We're still taking applications for the time being.

However, the only way to apply is via the forms sent directly from ourselves after following the steps outlined in this thread.

Forms are not to be passed on to anyone else and people who send these to us without prior correspondance will not be accepted to the beta.

It is said that I have to send a letter with "Worms Revolution Beta" as a subject, but I answered to the letter with an apply form with the wrong subject.
I know it is too early for asking this, but, well, my email's server has technical works and somehow Team17's letter and two of mine were deleted. Should I send them once again or not?

Oh, I can't edit my posts here but I should add that I've my letters again after the end of these technical works. My first letter was an answer to the letter with the apply form, and it has a quite different subject. I wanted to know if this letter will be rejected or not.

Was just about to pop this on.....

Cheers!

Thanks for the update. While I understand you can't contact everyone who didn't make it, maybe you can do a post saying "ok guys, we've taken what we can for now. if you didnt get a key, sorry."? So everyone can know? :P

If you've not applied yet for the beta and want to, you better get a move on as the final deadline for applying is this coming Monday, 14th May 2012.

It depends on how large a cash sum you offered them, oviously.
Alternatively, a large amount of beer, equalizing the large cash sum is acceptable too.
It's in the range of a galleon full of beer. ;)

Change "Will" for "most likely"....
However, make sure to check all the information before sending it....if something is wrong you are unlikely to receive your key....

I highly recommend sending all the info in one mail...I mean, its not like T17 is following your emails personally, there are a LOT of emails to verify...they will just check all the emails and determine if they have enough information for the key or not...

The applications don't go to me personally, but as has already been previously mentioned if successful, we’ll get back to you with an application form within the next few weeks and this is a closed beta with extremely limited placement, so we cannot guarantee that everyone will receive a response.

We do not have the time to respond to everyone personally, but those who are successful will be hearing from us.

edit: though I don't remember changing the e-mail address... it's a bit difficult situation, as I have two gmail accounts with messages from Team 17 on both of them. I included the address that had the initial "Welcome on the Team17 forum" message, but I have all the messages concerning the previous beta in another e-mail account.

Same here Jogger Jim.. I have emailed them about it. One thing I have found that is strange is that I can't edit my own details on Forum without a message saying that it is prohibited So I'm wondering if it is that causing issue.

No it says something about 34 applications, that had wrong forum details.
From all of the x applications, 34 are invalid.

Maybe something went wrong with the script they were using to give us the forum access.
I can not join either, though I did provide my correct data (checked it 3 times afterwards)

The forms were processed by a rather strict script. It looks as though it didn't understand anyone that entered anything but a single email address in the "Team17 Forum Details" section.

Send a message to the address noted in the email you received; I'm sure you'll receive access to the forum in the next day or two.

Same problem here. I entered correct details, i think it messed up because i have different mail adresses for the forum and the mail i registrered the beta with. Or because i entered both mail and username in the form (like the sample).

Mailed them again with details, hope it works out. Cannot wait to test this game.
