View Full Version : Ranked matches problems
I'm constantly running into two people teaming up. Only shooting me instead of each other. It feels like either two Steam users make an agreement to defeat everyone else or someone who's got two accounts.
I don't know what to do against this but there has to be something done.
Names please? I think I know who you mean.
Sorry I forgot the names, however it were two pairs of players already. I "marked" one of them as cheaters for Valve support to have a look into it... Well, that might be a bit naive but I was a little angry and didn't know what to do :p
i'm on xbl but have the same problem... i started a list of the people and just avoid them if possible... seems really weird to allow this for ranked matches but allow the host to limit a game to 2 for player matches

Question about the online: if an idiot that i am beating leaves the game, does that count as a win for me or not?

yes it does (at least on Xbox Live).

Sigh of relief. Beat 40 ranked matches would have been a b1tch without this.

I was beating two people earlyer today and they both left and i was just sent to the main menu. My points didn't go up so i am assuming that i didn't get the win.
This is bull****. 40 ranked kills is going to be impossible.
I think there's still a bug or two with points occasionally not being counted. It's kinda hard to prove though.
Assuming, of course, that they didn't disconnect at the same time.

If there were some in-game stats counting things like ranked wins then it might be easyer to figure out. If people leaving mean i'm not getting the win then i'm not even bothering with the online.
I never could start a ranked match, no one joins...

This is happening to me in 100% of games now and i no longer want to play.
If two teams aren't teaming up on me because i'm slightly better than them, then they leave the game sending me back to the main menu with no points.
This is the first worms title in history to make me angry.
If it's making you angry, you could always just... not play Ranked.
I mean, complain anyway because otherwise stuff don't get fixed, but it doesn't mean you have to keep playing Ranked in the meantime.

I want (need) the achievments, otherwise i wouldn't be playing it.
I haven't touched W2A online since i completed the 17 wins in each category. I'm not into playing online.
i haven't played online in a while now for the same reason... its just annoying trying to fend off 3 other players for a whole game... i'd rather just play worms 2 still for actual competitive matches

I'm having tons of trouble bein teamed up on as well it's so frustrating. on XBLA there is one loser in particular being way too obvious that he has two accounts, I'll post the names later but his avatars are identical and he will even go as far to place bubbles on his other teams worms, or attack a single opponent when there are 3 of the other team right next to him in a big cluster. I miss 1vs1 ranked so much!!
On the flip side so many people are becoming over paranoid about being teamed on. I was in a 3 player deathmatch and after the loser harrased me for over an hour sending me 24 nasty messages accusing me of teaming on him when truth be told he sucked at the game. I wish some people could just accept defeat and move on.......**cough**harry7potter**cough**
"Network error"
I disconnected from a ranked match. Lost about 60 points.
This is cool i'nit.

Thats why i play 1v1 ranked only....I always get focused early in 3-4 player games and i end up forced to go darkside for 30 mins with 2 or 3 diferent players trying to desperately destroy/reach my bunker....
Anyway, I have the same problem as in W4M with 1v1 matches....I win 97% of the time against players who dont even know how to move a barrel properly.....so I get bored quickly...
I can say I really did have enough. Skillless morons defeating me because of them getting the first turn and 3 of my worms grouped up (-22 points), Teaming up players defeating me (you don't have a chance, -28 points), network drops right at the beginning of the match (-32 points), a bug stealing my turn after I place a girder, airstrike blow team weapons, host migration wasting 15 minutes... I know you call this ranked but that's not ranked, that's sh*t.
It's way too obvious. Two people with the same country flag joining the same ranked lobby. Neither of them says a word. Both concentrate on the rest of the players. They don't attack each other apart from a tiny assault with a shotgun (to make it seem like they didn't belong to each other).
This game is cheap on Steam, all you need is two f***ing computers.
Do something, I'm sick of losing points of cheaters like those. Ranked matches with more than two players are a joke anyway. What the hell is ranked about that.

The game rules is not "have four players ranked matches and let people team up with each other as they'd do normally". To avoid this, allow us to limit ranked matches to two players.
And actually I'm rather complaining about how easily you can cheat here by simply buying the game twice and joining the same ranked lobby. For some players it's really obvious as I described above. Once I got all the ranked matches achievements I'll stop playing ranked anyway, just wanted to point out how useless rankings are once again.

I recieved a message of somebody before saying "You're cheating, teaming up with Blue team"
I wish i could reach through the screen and slap these idiots.

Thurbo, are you actually suggesting that people are going to go to all the effort, of setting up two steam accounts, paying double the normal price, ensure that both of their teams end up in the same ranked match, and go back and forth between computers, all to win some meaningless points in an average worms game? And even if someone is actually doing that, then they deserve to win, they are putting waaaaaaay too much effort in anyway.
Always playing with a friend would work too.

Yeah, that was a glitch at launch, the game was giving out retarded amounts of points.
Roboslop, yes it's quite obvious some people are doing this. And, as Plasma mentioned, others are simply farming points with their friends (and team up on other players should these join their lobby). Unfortunately this game isn't quite inactive enough, I hadn't managed to start a match with less than 3 players for quite a long time and it's just no fun that way. I abandoned playing ranked although I still need several achievements :( I'll stick to play with Steam friends, if playing online at all.

Well Turdo, pretty sure Plasma wasn't suggesting points framing, rather you can avoid this problem, by playing against your friends, and not random people. Also, cry cheater all you like, but seeing players team up, has been around as long as works has been online. The problem here, is high bazooka grenade damage, and custom weapons, which effectively can mean, two dead worms for one player before their turn. There is almost nothing they can do to prevent dual loggers, friends teaming up, or random people seeing a chance to have less weapons potentiality pointed at them quicker. What would like? IP monitoring? Easily beatable. Moderators? Ridiculous man power/money problems. The best the could offer, is disallow friends in the same match, that is literally, the only option, and even that can be circumvented. Any game that has 3+ players in a free for all style has the same situation, guaranteed. In short, they cannot prevent players from making impromptu alliances.
If Plasma meant I should always play with a friend, I don't know how that would help in my problem running into teaming uppers. No idea what you are on about but the simpliest solution is to allow us to limit ranked matches to 2 players.
As in all previous Worms games since Open Warfare 2 (except for that XBLA Worms and Battle Islands. But nobody is playing Battle Islands with more than 2 players anyway).

You can't invite friends to ranked matches anyways so it's random luck whether you get to play with a stranger or not.

They should have had this from the start but they really need to add it in an update.
