So Steam is doing this Summer mini-DLC thing. Basically, for the next 11 days, they're giving away specially-made DLC for a variety of games. Each DLC costs 3 "tickets", which you can get from getting a specific achievement in a variety of games over those days (7 different ones a day).

Eeeexcept for Team17. Who instead of special DLC decided, for whatever reason, to put the entirety of Alien Breed 2: Assault up instead. Sure, it might be lazyness, but who cares free game!


Aaaactually the reason I'm saying it's free and not "free, if you actually have the games you can get the achievements in" is because, last time they did something like this, each day had one Steam-related achievement - one you can do without having to buy a single game, you just need a Steam account. And since the first day already has one of those, I expect the next days to...

Course, you could always spend the tickets on something else. Like a limited edition Team Fortress virtual HAT! Oh man, this one's a toughie.

This is pretty awesome, especially given that most of the other DLC is for games I don't own. I'm not gonna say no to expanding my already far too large Steam library. One day I may even actually play some of my games!

Glad you like this move, we felt that Alien Breed got a tough run on Steam when Alien Swarm came out for free. :( anyway, we hope if people play and enjoy Episode 2 they might go and buy one or both of the other Episodes. One can but hope.

That's what led me here. If I like AB2, I can assure you I'll be buying the other two.

...and yeah, you guys were really unlucky with that Alien Swarm release.
