I finally finished compiling the last of my homemade Worms Armageddon Speech banks today. I had them done for my own uses when playing online, but I thought it’d be a shame not to also share them with the gaming community, so I’m posting this at whatever Worms-related places I can find online, and maybe I’ll also come across Worms sites that host and share Speech banks. They’re by voice actresses who aren’t technically pros but are very professional in my opinion, who acted out my scripts for the direct purpose of Worms speech banks, as well as a few male ones by me.

Unzip them into your Worms Speech folder. For example:
C:\Team17\Worms Armageddon\User\Speech\Folder
You’ll be able to select them in the in-game options while editing a Team. They’ll appear under the list of the official Team17 Speech banks. I recommend not changing the default names of the folders, to help increase the chance that someone else you meet online will be able to hear the Speech bank you’ve chosen. In most cases, you’ll be the only one who will be able to hear it, since the other players would have to have it saved as well.

Edit: Some people were complaining about mic quality, so I moved 'Little girl' lower so that she wouldn't head up the list, since that actress didn't have a high-quality mic.

Enjoy!

Really nice work! I have to criticise the recording quality of the female banks, though, enough to say that I know I wouldn't use any of them for myself. Your banks also seem to suffer from a couple of home-recording issues, but I enjoyed them much more. I also like how your "Cartoony guy" sounds a lot like Guybrush Threepwood!

Full points for effort!

I agree with GreeN completely.

You should really have used a pop shield for recording. :-/

You can cheaply produce one yourself with a piece of circular-shaped wire, covered with a piece of nylon pantyhose.

An easier way is to just record from beside your mouth (~10 cm distance with a decent mic) instead of in front of it. Your cheek then acts as a perfect "pop shield" and the recording sounds good.

Nice work you got there. ;)

d@mn skippy!

yeah i advised my actresses to record at the sides of their mouths instead of in front, usually after i heard the breath sounds after they first auditioned, as i did too for my recent one. thankfully most of them turned out awesome. the only one that really lacked a good mic was 'Little girl.' the pickiest of the picky might also avoid 'Cool girl,' because it has an obvious sound when the mic was on versus off. for technical quality i might most recommend 'Perky girl' and 'Cheery woman.' also note that the volumes in my samples are higher than what you'll get in-game, because of an odd volume difference during play, so if you hear a voice you like, try it in action

enjoy!
