View Full Version : Why didn't Team 17 release a digital version of the game before the update?

Releasing it on Steam, Impulse or any other digital distribution service would have been great before the update. Now I don't have the CD and stores don't sell the game anymore. Why does Team 17 make it so hard to play this game? Would it be so hard to release it on Steam?

Cause this game is not officially supported by Team17 anymore.

You can still buy it HERE (http://www.amazon.com/Worms-Armageddon-Pc/dp/B00000K4DE).

Why does Team17 or who ever supports it now make it so hard to get the game. And do the people who support this game now actually make any money from me purchasing this 12 year old game?

This game has massive replayability. I don't understand it has been pushed into the public eye more. Instead Worms:Reloaded was put out (I don't know who would ever approve of such a game to be put out over W:A or WWP.)

Its like the developers actually want us to pirate the game. Because there is no way I would pay shipping for a game that old. Even though I would easily pay $20 for it on Steam.

Work must've been put into making W:Reloaded and putting it on Steam, when that work could have just as easily been to put W:A/WWP on there. Everyone who bought Reloaded was in a way deceived, purchasing a major downgrade.

Worms 2 + Worms Armageddon on Amazon (http://www.amazon.ca/Sold-out-Software-WORMS2ANDARMG-Worms-Armageddon/dp/B000E23XNA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1301903560&sr=8-1)
CDN$ 8.98 + CDN$ 4.95 shipping = CDN$ 13.93

You would seriously pay more money on Steam for one game, than 30% less from Amazon for two games, including shipping? I think you're crazy.

No you wouldn't. A game like this goes for 5-10 dollars on Steam. You really think somebody wants to have to go to Amazon to find a copy? Then track down a used copy, from a vendor who may-or-may-not-be-reputable? Then place the order, wait for it to be shipped and hopefully arrive in good shape? Get real dude...

If this was on Steam for 5 dollars or so, I would buy it. Hike over to Amazon and go through all that **** for an older game? No thanks.

Sorry to Team17, not meaning to **** all over your efforts or anything, it's cool that you are so dedicated, my only point of contention is that nobody (or perhaps just a very small number of people) is going to want to go through all that just to play this game. Older games, Indie games, Cheap games, they all seem to do pretty decent on Steam (I myself being a purchaser of many said games).

They are sold new on Amazon, by the official method, not used via Amazon Marketplace.

The guy I quoted said he would pay $20 on Steam as opposed to $14 for a double-pack including shipping.

The price I posted in my previous post is for the cheapest, unused one with the seller being 100% positive from 107 ratings.
And clicking that link is barely "tracking down".
